Default Sonnets Here, In-House

Last night, because Bruiser was in low spirits, I wrote a sonnet for her on the "Mood" thread to cheer her up. Since she said it made her smile, I'm going to try writing more such ventures to honor other TDL members. To begin with, another young lady who will always be special to me:

FOR UMBRELLAxSCENExCORE

Umbrellas with transparent central part
Were what the girl meant by her forum name;
Once this is understood, my work of art
Can turn to saying: it would be a shame

If Pakistan's most precious daughter yet
Should ever think, one minute of one day,
That this old man could possibly forget
Her blessing to my Janalee's last day.

And it was also Farah who beheld
The cliffs of Aslan's Country, with my love
Alive up there, forever strong and well,
And able to see me from up above.

So, Farah, may God's love hold you erect,
And bless you more than you know to expect.

For the boys. lol

Caught the breeze
Caught the lightning
He's in the middle
And you freeze
In the brightning
of the riddle.

Mr. Pollock bring your son
the sisters have gone
Feel this and dont believe
your the loan
of their zone
cause he's our fun
Oh how I loved the boys on
the left, oh and your not here
didn't know what she was, the sisters' ear.

Hiding it well
you dont bring it
So small
you can't stand the dwell
when she's closer and closer to the wall
Maybe she will quit
Maybe she's the hate
you hide in your dress boy
Right on time for the date
too bad I'm coy.

You'll be shocked to know that I heartily approve of your latest endeavor . This would be an English/Shakespearean sonnet, unless I'm much mistaken. ABAB, CDCD, EFEF, GG. Three quatrains and a concluding couplet.

Iambic pentameter is supposed to mimic natural speech, and yours goes even a step above that. Leave it to you to take an ancient form and make it sound conversational .

Molto bene!

Thank you, ma tres chere Fantine. Dayhawk, by Pollock do you mean Jackson Pollock? But to continue--

FOR TIMBALIONGUY:

Tim Stoffel, known as Timbalionguy,
My brother in the realms of sober thought,
Can't stand for lions by neglect to die,
And strives to see them flourish as they ought.

He wishes he could give large carnivores
A refuge with a flawless wall and moat;
For some who claim to love the predators
Are like those who say, "I love God," but don't.

Few members here suspect how hard he fights
Tree-huggers, who deceive the world at large
With phony claims to seek dumb creatures' rights,
While really making lions' fates more harsh.

Real progress, not fake shortcuts, is his cry;
Hence my salute to Timbalionguy.

Now it's YOUR turn, lovely Vanessa....

~ FOR MRS. GIL-GALAD TOOK ~

In almost fifty-seven years on Earth,
I never once had envied anyone
For playing hockey; but let loose your mirth,
For now my green-eyed jealousy's begun.

I envy Eric Lindros very much,
Because he's the celebrity of choice
For fair Vanessa, sweetest of the Dutch,
Who showers him with her admiring noise.

Vanessa, for her part, not in a game,
But in real life, has taken some hard shots,
Yet has not ever told God He's to blame--
Her Christian faith's authentic, not ersatz.

A sonnet has to end when scarce begun;
But she could fit in Proverbs Thirty-One.

I think Joe won't mind but he is a brilliant writer and I'm curious what he is going to say about our other dear beloved TDL-ers

Dayhawk, I have made poetic interjections on Inkling's thread of her sonnets, so I would be a hypocrite if I got angry at you for doing no more than I have done myself.
