"Er, well I guess I can't really blame you Midnight.... not when you put it that way."
"Its good you did nothing to punish him, Jako, else I'd have let Mozart and her LFF Catlition at you." laughed Rita.
Jako's ears turned red, "Yes, er, well what did you find out?"
"Well father I found out a good deal, some of which I wish I'd never known..."

"This is what we found," interupted Ribbony, "I sent Mid off on missions to villages further in Freedom Forest, and sometimes outside of it. He gained much information, and you ought be proud of him, little Jakie." Jako's ears turned as red as a ripe cherry, "He told me that the villian we tracked was a cat, a tomcat at that- some of the refugees said he had an ill-favored look, and long claws."
"'Oh the claws!' They'd tell me" said Midnight, "'They were horrible! As long as your tail, kit!' I figured they were exagerating, because no cat has claws as long as my tail... leastways none I've ever heard of. An' they said he had yellow eyes. Thats all they ever said about him though. Most of 'em were more than half crazy..."

"Oh how horrible!" cried Mozart.
"...Anyway I thought the descriptions fit Tigerclaw pretty well." continued Midnight, "And I heard summat else too..." Mid paused.
"Tell them, Middy." said Ribbony encouragingly.
"They said he was headed for Reandalawo." talk burst out amongst the assembled creatures, and it took Rita, Jako, Ribbony and the Catlitions quite awhile to calm them.

When things were in order again Jak, Jako’s little brother, asked,
“So Tigerclaw came here and sent Shady and Hope in to kittennap Fire and her siblings?”
“It seems so. Either that or…”
“He decided that he had too few troops to take us on and sent Shady and Hope to see if he was right and the spies decided to do him an extra favor and kittennapped Fire and co.!” Mozart finished Ribbony’s statement and nailed the reason Hope and Shady had come.

“So my kits are now in the paws of a rouge and we’re just sitting here?!?” cried out Tori, “Let’s go get them!” it took the whole LFF Catlition and Creamy to hold her down.

“Ma’m, with all due respect they have a fair start on us, and it’d be foolish to go blindly into an adventure that we know nothing of than rumors! We do not know how many Tigerclaw even has with him, nor if he has decided to leave Freedom Forest, may he be holding the kits for ransom for all we know and waiting for us to come a-lookin for them with archers ‘round every bush”! Creamy rarely said anything, but when he did it was usually the most sensible thing to be said.

“Glad one of us has some sense.” muttered Toto.
Jako shot his young son a sharp glance then shrugged and said, “It’s getting late anyway, tomorrow we’ll continue this conversation and plan what to do.”

“But Mozart, papa said to wait!”
“I know Toto, but I have the feeling that Tigerclaw did take Fire and her siblings away as captives.”
“But how would we know?”
“We could ask Shadow to take a look in the woods…” suggested Dorthy.
“No. I’m not risking the littler ones.” Toto’s voice sounded like their father’s when he meant business.
“Why not just ask Shads?” the four turned and saw Frodo and his sisters standing there.
“Well Shada? You wanna spy for us like Middy did?”

Shadow looked thoughtful for a full five seconds, then she gave her decision,
“Yup!”

Mozart looked a little triumphantly at Toto.
Toto sighed, “Okay fine.” Muffled cheers came from the LFF Catlition.

Shadow crept silently along. Under the cover of the falling darkness she looked like her name suggested; nothing but a swift Shadow that glided through the undergrowth.
Shadow liked being out in the woods at night, much like her friends Midnight and Susan his sister. They were black and it was their element at night, for none could catch a shadow and few awoke at midnight.
The young cat picked up signs that Claw and his troops had been there, but they were old scents and tracks, at least a day old.

“Mozart was right!” she squeaked aloud.
“Right? Right about what?”

Shadow jumped, Sanga dropped down from the tree above her and landed behind her.
“Shadow! What are you doing out here?”
“I could ask you da same thing!” retorted Shadow.
“I like coming out at night.” Came the reply.
“Ya, well, so do I!”
“But you’re alot younger than me, Shads.”
“You’re not much older than Middy an’ Flower.” Muttered Shadow.
“Still, I’m your superior by a couple years. Now what are you doing out alone at this hour in Freedom Forest?” asked Sanga patiently.
“Nuttin’ important.” Shadow said carefully.
“What is Mozart right about then?”
“Oh nothing that concerns you!” came back the little kitten, who was getting very annoyed. She wanted to be on her way to tell the others and Sanga was being very persistent.
“You can tell me Shadow.” Reassured Sanga.
“Wook, I gotta go! It concerns my baby siblins!” Shadow ran a little ways, but became aware Sanga was following her.
He came down in front of her.

“C’mon Shads, tell me!”
“You’re worse ‘n Frodo when he wants a piece of cake.” Murmured the kitten, “O.K. but if you tell anybody you’ll be in big trouble with the LFF Catlition who’ll be in big big trouble with Jako and Tori and Rita and Catlition, got it?”
“I got it.” Laughed Sanga.

Shadow proceeded to tell him the whole story while they headed back, and she was just finishing when they got back to Mozart’s room.

“You was right, Mo. Tigerclaw took Fire and the rest.” She confirmed.
“Now will you listen to me, Toto?” asked Mozart.
“Ok, but where’d Sanga come from?”
“Oh, well y’see it happened like dis…”

“Hurry, afore somebody notices us!” the LFF Catlition and Sanga hurried through Reandalawo, gathering the things they needed as they went.
The LFF Catlition was going to find Claw and the kittens.
Sanga had been so insistent that he should go too that Mozart had given up and let him.

“Can’t do any harm to have one more anyway.” She reasoned.
They wore their packs and travel items on their backs and those of them who had swords wore them at their sides. Dorthy of course had her bow on her back, and Sanga too had a bow. Mozart had her belt of treasures as well.

Sanga; my mom wanted me to add him , he is the cat from the woods who found Shawnti and got Mozart to heal her and later watched the fight between Cogg and Mozart and got Caspian to save Mozart.
