Sonnets Here, In-House

This last one sounds wonderful. :) I think it's one of your most beautiful ones yet because it's a very gentle one. Love it!

Really, really liked the sentiment behind this one. That's always the danger in doing anything personalized to particular members of a community, that the rest will eventually start watching for "theirs" to come and then be hurt when it does not, or is delayed. Nicely stated and well written besides.

A SONNET FOR ONE WHO HAS
NOT GOTTEN A SONNET YET

I venture to assume that you exist;
That you have read these pages, and perhaps
Felt slighted for not being on my list
Of sonnet subjects. If you're there, my lapse

Concerning you has not occurred from spite,
Or even laziness. Please do recall
That in my poetry I'm shedding light
On those I know, and I do not know all.

Now, some I do know still await their turn--
For instance, Fernshire Hobbit, Elendil,
And CyberCat; more details I must learn,
To do them justice, which I hope I will.

I'm not omniscient; that's "Well, duh," but true;
Omissions don't mean I don't care for you.

That is really good!

You know, folks, there's no law that says you can't _prompt_ me on sonnets. What I mean is, suppose you know something I don't know about Member-X: she just won a trophy for water-skiing or pie-baking. TELL me about it, and you may hasten the day when your beloved Member-X gets a sonnet.

Thank you, Starkissed. Ephinie, you realize I've been in custom-tailored mode all through this thread; so, DID you want me to write instead about marriage AS SUCH?

To Sir Godfrey

My junior, but still senior to the kids,
I know you work promoting peace of mind,
Preventing folks from blowing off their lids,
And watching for the chance to help them find

Eternal mental health in Jesus Christ.
Unto this end, you bring in each resource:
The Halo game, so broadly advertised,
Or illustrations from the Star Wars Force--

Whatever works to steer each human brain
To crucial truth which it somehow has missed,
And warn them that, upon the unseen plane,
They have a foe whom they have to resist.

Do as you've done; be faithful unto death;
Vanessa counts on you to do so, Jeff.

To Vanessa's Mother

The world has grown both large and small at once;
But as for value placed on human life,
This only shrinks where cynicism dumps
Its conscience, and sends weak ones to the knife.

Not glamorous? Not wealthy? Not well known?
You're useless to the self-absorbed elite,
Just low-grade meat still hanging on the bone,
Less valued even than the flesh we eat.

Men gain this attitude by losing truth,
And seeing all things through their lens of lies,
They say you're worthless without health and youth;
But you've a daughter who thinks otherwise.

Your daughter, standing on God's written page,
Knows that you're human at whatever age.

*Hugs Joe tightly*

I LOVE the one you wrote for Jeff! He is such a treasure and I'm glad to count him as my dear friend and brother in Christ.

I also LOVE the one you wrote for my mother. That was very, VERY sweet of you to do so Joe!!!

request if you please!!!

This is a request for UniqueMonke or Tiara. She is too shy to ask for one and I, being her close offline friend as well, offered to do the requesting.

Here is some general info;
She is very silly
she likes to paint with me sometimes (we were in art club together)
SHe loves monkey's and is the self-proclaimed leader of them :p
She loves the color purple
she is a bit boy crazy ;)
