100 or More Things You Learned from LOTR

217. Out of the seven people who possesed the Ring (or were possesed by it) only two gave it up willingly.
218. To bear a ring of Power is to be alone.
219. If you ever somehow get 3 wishes and one of them is to wish the Fellowship of the Ring or the Hobbits out of LOTR make sure to do it AFTER they destroyed the Ring. Because (to my knowledge) Mt. Doom doesn't exist in this world.

221. Even good writers can pull off the "tall, dark, handsome, and mysterious hero" thing...sometimes.
222. Hairy feet won't help you keep warm in a blizzard. (Sometimes little teenage brothers enamored of their newly hairified state need reminded of this fact.)
223. Never write an imaginary language. People might try to learn it.

Samwise and Bilbo. However, it might well be argued that the latter did not give it up willingly, only after being 'leant on' by Gandalf.

226. Don't cut down trees in strange, dark forests: their guardians may well wreck your home if you do!

230. When taking a short cut through dwarven caverns, it is not a good idea to drop stones (or skeletons) down wells.

231. If you are being pursued by a balrog, make sure that when you destroy the bridge that you are beyond the reach of it's flaming whip.

237. If you are strolling in the woods, and a black horse ridden by someone wearing black robes and a hood comes along, hide!

238. Make sure the ferry boat is on the same side of the river as you are!

239: If you DO happen to find a magic ring, throw it in the nearest volcano as soon as possible :p

240: When you're in a forest, remember the ents, they could be anywhere :p

241. Ponies are prone to falling through cracks (okay... this is actually from the Hobbit... but they are like the same thing to me :p )
