and as far as speaking elvish, you'd be surprised how much you can learn just from rotk, the silmarillion, and some of the other books. i like the councilofelrond.com site too--they have a lot of info on the languages, but i think it's just a little off sometimes. i know a little...i could probably have a very basic conversation, but that's about it. i guess i'm one of those people who have too much time on their hands. ![]()

Today I watched TTT extended edition and am amazed how much I love this world. LOTR has been a part of my life ever since the beginning. I don't think I can ever get away from it and I don't want to either. I always disliked TTT the most out of the three movies(books is a different story) but after seing the movie again I like things so much better. I like the battle at Helm's Deep even more than the Pelennor Fields battle because this has a bit more details in it. And they stood against each other face to face. I like so many parts. But still the other two movies are my favs. But TTT is no longer disliked

I love LOTR, although I just read the books last year. I guess when I was younger I had thought, for some reason, that they were bad--maybe it was just that I knew other things LOTR junkies of my acquaintance read and associated LOTR with those books. At any rate, I read the books, but in the wrong order--The Return of the King first, followed by The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers. (*wince* I know, I know! I committed a serious crime which brought about dire results--namely, my great confusion.) I've only read the books completely through once, although I've read favorite sections several times or more. They take longer to re-read than CoN, which I re-read fairly often.
I should watch the movies sometime, but so far I haven't.

I read CoN only once but I finished them in one week. I'm not a Narnia person. I liked the books but that's it. I'm a devoted LOTR fanatic but I also read the books once. In the beginning I was avoiding LOTR but it kept calling me and when I first started to read I didn't even finished the first page. Then one day I started to read and this is when it grabbed me for good. I read it daily till it wasfinished. Then I started to read the Silmarillion which is a great story as well. You should watch themovies. They are brilliant. Of course not like the books but still billiant

By all means read the books again in proper order, Glenburne. Twice through is nowhere near enough to glean all the value from them. And don't worry too much about seeing the movies - the only one really worth it is the first one. Two Towers begins to go downhill badly and Return of the King is a travesty. Your time is much better spent on the books.

Gollum?!
My younger brother loves saying "my precious" in a creaky voice because he knows it creeps me out.
