For the Snow Festival (First Snowy night after the first Full Moon of the New Year), you are invited to try your hand at writing a Narnian Carol.

The Topic is up to you -- it does not have to include references to snow, as long as the main theme is distinctly Narnian. However, the words need to be able to be set to the the tune of "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" and follow its iambic scanning pattern of 8 syllables+6 syllables, with *rhymes at the end of the 6 syllable lines:
da-Dum da-Dum da-Dum da-Dum (8 syllables)
da-Dum da-Dum da-Dum (6 syllables)*
da-Dum da-Dum da-Dum da-Dum
da-Dum da-Dum da-Dum*

da-Dum da-Dum da-Dum da-Dum
da-Dum da-Dum da-Dum*
da-Dum da-Dum da-Dum da-Dum
da-Dum da-Dum da-Dum*

Since the first Full Moon of 2017 is Thursday January 12, all entries need to be in by January 11 and the winner will be announced at the Winter Festival.

Okay here is a sample Narnian Carol:

The Great Snow Dance (inspired by Jill Pole)

Well met upon the Dancing Lawn
Beneath the radiant moon!
Exploding snowballs brought me down
Amid the panpipe tunes.
Deft melodies propelled the fauns
Around the merry ring
While friendly beasts joined in the song
and danced a Snowball Fling.

This would be sung by Puddleglum:

We came from killing the snaky witch;
The Bismans turned us loose.
Good thing! We probably would have died
If we drank diamond-juice.
I bumped my head on the ceiling twice,
And my burned foot still burns;
I hope it won't get infected now,
Since burned flesh draws in germs.

I leaned on Rilian for a while,
Till we climbed out the hole.
The dancers frightened us when we thought
They'd hurt the boy and Miss Pole.
Be just my luck if I catch a cold
From wandering in the snow.
If I can't get to my swamp home soon,
I might's well go back below!
