  • Beth! I'm never on anymore! And I see from your last login date that neither are you! How sad.

Should you ever log in, if you send me a PM I'll get an email notification and reply. :)
Still working on Saving Leonardo. I think substantial is a good word for it. I find that I have to put it down and really consider the things she says before moving on (which is probably why I'm taking longer to read it. :p) A really good book, because even when I disagree with what she says, she still helps me to really consider why I disagree (does that make sense? Haha). Ah, speaking of sci-fi, have you read Karen Hancock's Arena? It's next on my reading list and I've heard it's great sci-fi. I like Muse a lot, Radiohead less so. But both are good. :D I've started getting into classical music, although I'm really almost totally new to this genre. I'm trying to expand my interests. Well, if you're doing awesomely well, then I am doing as well as you. :p Me too! We have to start logging in more!
Oh, and I meant to tell you: I got that book that I think you talked (/typed) about by Nancy Pearcy (sp?) Saving Leonardo. I haven't read it yet, but it looks great and I'm planning on reading it as soon as I've finished George Bush's book, Decision Points.
*depressed* I just wrote my reply to your message, hit submit and it said it was too long (by a lot, so maybe it's better you didn't have to suffer through reading it :p) so I tried to go back to edit it but it wasn't there! I don't really feel like re-writing it and it was probably mostly incomprehensible anyway, Haha. Anyway, I'll try to re-write my reply when I get on in Feb.

If I haven't already mentioned Andrew Peterson to you, then I'm ashamed. His album, "Counting Stars" has quickly become one of my favorite albums of all time. Let me know what you think of his music if you get a chance to listen to it. :) Oh! speaking of Andrew Peterson, he gave two lectures on the place of imagination in the Kingdom which you might enjoy:

    Part 1 -- Part 2
I love Reading(Narnia,LOTR,Anne of Green Gables),Horseback riding(English or Sidesaddle). Ballet Dancing, drawing! You can see a picture of me in my photo album on my page.
Thanks! Happy Thanksgiving to you, too! Did you have a good one?

Indeed! I actually just recently made two stacks of books (one stack is fiction, the other nonfiction :p) beside my bed. I've decided to try to restrict myself to two books (one fiction, one non) at a time from now on. I think it helps me get more out of the books that way.

That book sounds awesome! Hopefully I'll get to read it over Christmas break. Thanks for the rec!

I've heard of Sayers' mysteries, but I hadn't heard if they were good...I'll try to check them out over Christmas break, too (and so the book list grows exponentially...:p) Seriously? That's amazing! I wish I could learn Italian that easily! :p No worries, viva la run-on sentences! :p

Yes, MacDonald's writings are pure brilliance. I think At the Back of the North Wind is the only MacDonald book I've yet to read...As of right now, Lilith is my favorite, though. Haha, I love bizarre! Soooo many books...:p
I agree with pretty much everything you said about Two Cities...My thoughts were mixed about this book because I felt it sort of dragged for the first third of the book. The end was absolutely amazing, but I thought he could have gotten their a touch faster. But then again, maybe the end wouldn't have been as powerful... I quite like what you wrote, "...feel the pent-up energy, throws you into the chaos, lets the waves toss you from hope to despair, and brings you back to life." Pretty much sums up my thoughts. :p I'm rather worried that this paragraph is incomprehensible. :p

Haha, yeah, I definitely do better with short stories. I keep my focus better, I think. Yes! And I succeeded! It's 52,000+ words! One story makes up about half of that total (I got really caught up in it...:p), and then there are several 4,000 word stories.
Haha, I agree November isn't the best month, but really, no other months make such a catchy name! :p I haven't read Flatlands, but it sounds crazy-awesome (your story & his, haha)! :-D

Duuuude! You just made my day! Matt T on a JM record? What could possibly be better?! Platform Fire sounds pretty awesome!

Hahaha, at least you compose them, I just put them off, andProxy-Connection: keep-alive Cache-Control: max-age=0 hen I forget about them and then I log on again and realize I meant to reply two weeks ago...:p

Haha, yeah, I've learned pretty much all of Postcards, but I'm still working on the timing. It's taking forever, but still fun. :) I did talk to him, but he decide against giving lessons because he is on tour a lot and he likes to have time off when he is actually home (which I totally understand, haha!) It is lame that drums are so expensive.
Yes, well, you'll just have to trust me. Haha. :p I will confess to having a slight addiction to listening to music--but only slight I tell you! :p I actually have thought that producing albums would be really fun for me, though. I don't know that I ould be that talented, though. Haha. :p

Hope you like Me, Myself, And Bob! And I hope this message makes at least a modicum of sense. :p

P.S. This is a link to a really great article on the importance of reading the 'classics'. Personally, I had been a little burnt out on the classics lately, but reading i
That's great! Wow, an entire week? Sooo not right :p I only got Thursday and Friday off :( Haha. Hahahaha! I know what you mean! On Friday I started "officially" listening to Christmas music. I've been waiting all year :D

Um... I'm gonna say, no. I've never seen or read any of the movies or books. What about you? Yes or no? :)
Trust me, I was just as shocked as you are! :p I do love food! Haha. Not really, I'm a little old for trick-or-treating (obviously) & I'm not big on dressing up, sooo...:p Yeah, I'm like that when I spend too much time with people and not enough by myself.

Your welcome! Let me know (if/when you read any of them) what you think! (Indeed! What I hate is when [like right now for me] you have so many books that they all call your name at once and you can hardly enjoy the one you're reading because you want to hurry to the next one!) Ah, yes, you have too! Chesterton is absolutely brilliant! The Father Brown stories are really good, too. Oh good! Let me know what you think of The Old Man and The Sea. Yesssss, you will change your mind. :p

I've been meaning to read The Pilgrim's Regress. I'm gonna try to start it sometime this week. Allegory is indeed a lot of fun! The best allegories are the sort that you can re-read and see new things each time, methinks.

Haha, intriguing title. I'll have to put it on my list. Isn't the Weight of Glory a brilliant book?
Ahh, I've been meaning to start that one, too! Do you have the Dorothy Sayers' translation? You know she was C.S. Lewis' friend? I've heard that her translation is the best...
Another book I've been meaning to read... :p (a book that I have read that I've heard people compare to Wonderland is MacDonald's Phantastes. It's brilliant!)
Ack! It's like you have stolen my reading list! :p
I have read that one...My thoughts are sort of mixed, but I'll wait 'til you've finished it to tell you what I thought...

Yeah, I'm excited! Haha, yeah fantasy is at once the best & worst of genres, I think.
Exactly! Haha, I hate that, too!
Awesome! I've decided to make mine a series of short-ish (e.g. 10,000 words) stories set within the same world...We'll see how it goes...Alright, now you've got me interested! :p

Dude! I just downloaded it and it's awesome! Thanks for the rec!

    *in other music news*
Two new Matt Thiessen/Relient K songs! The first is called "What Can I Do?" You can watch a video of them performing it live here. I like it a lot!

The second is an Owl City song that Thiessen co-wrote. "Plant Life" I wish he would release it on iTunes as a single. (is the piano on this song not absolutely gorgeous?)

Haha, I agree! I love that quote! It made me laugh! I've actually started writing real letters to my sister at college...it's surprisingly fun!

*random* I'm (kinda-sorta) learning to play the piano! Whee! It's a blast! I'm learning Coldplay's Postcards From Far Away from youtube...I love it! I'm hoping I can convince my mom to teach me more, too...I don't really have much natural talent, but I'm (I hope) making up for it with lots of practice. :p I think I might actually have some talent on the drums, though...the problem is that drums are so big (they're not exactly cheap, either. :p) that we really wouldn't have anywhere to put them in our house.

*random again* Have you read Phil Vischer's, Me, Myself & Bob: A True Story About God, Dreams, and Talking Vegetables? It's written by the guy that created VeggieTales and is absolutely inspiring. It's also one of the funniest books I've ever read.
Well, hello there! :) It's been awhile! I'm just peachy. Got this week behind me, with only 6 weeks, 13 hours, 34 minutes, and 19 seconds to go before the end of the semester! :D j/k about the time of course.

    How are youuuuu???
