I was in the book store yesterday, looking for some new books to buy, when I noticed these covers for the Narnia series. These book civers are meant to appeal to the adult fans of the Narnia series. You can view these covers below, thanks to HarperTeachers.com (http://www.harperchildrens.com/teacher/)
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (http://www.harperchildrens.com/coverimages/large/0060598247.jpg)
Prince Caspian (http://www.harperchildrens.com/coverimages/large/0060764929.jpg)
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (http://www.harperchildrens.com/coverimages/large/0060764945.jpg)
The Silver Chair (http://www.harperchildrens.com/coverimages/large/0060764937.jpg)
The Horse and His Boy (http://www.harperchildrens.com/coverimages/large/0060764872.jpg)
The Magician's Nephew (http://www.harperchildrens.com/coverimages/large/0060764902.jpg)
The Last Battle (http://www.harperchildrens.com/coverimages/large/0060764880.jpg)
What do you think of these new covers? Do you thnk they do a good job appealing to the adult audience? Would you pick up the book based on this cover?

Those must be brand new, because I manage a bookstore and haven't seen them yet. (Or maybe the higher-ups think four or five versions are enough!)
The first cover you posted is actually for the the one volume set of the series--it's the one I own because it was cheaper than buying them individually. Unless they just used the same cover again for LWW. I think all of them are great--less embarrassing for adults who would be mortified to be seen reading a "kid's book!" I also like the covers for the new 50th anniversary editions. They're facsimiles of the originals, with a great retro look.

I like these new covers, but they are only for a paper edition. Hardcover is the way to go with the Narnia series if you plan on re-reading these books often.

Hello everyone.
Yes, I read these books very often and would like the beauty of these new covers available in hardcover. Are they planning to release a hardcover set with it's own case? That is something I would purchase.

i know eh? They are just so lovely, it really illustrates the book, and gives you an idea of what its about by looking at the cover, for a person who might have never read it b4.

They are kinda boring. I liked the horse and his boy though, and the magician's nephew. Those were neat.

They are OK, I just wouldn't want to own them. And anyways, it really doesn't matter what it looks like on the outside. Like they say, You can't tell a book by its cover.

no you cant, but for the people who do, the covers would be good for them.

I saw the posh HP covers when I went into Borders today, and thought how remarklably similar they look to the new CoN covers. Are they done by the same people???

They look like covers for poorly written Christian fiction in my opinion. Not to offend anyone who likes them of course. But they seem like they're trying too hard, you know how that goes with Christian media sometimes.

Yes, that's the book I have now... the one volume cover for the whole series.. the only difference is, the book I have doesn't have that "Essay on Writing" by C.S. Lewis (to understand, look at the cover of the first book).
I know what you mean. I'm a teenager, and it was sort of embarrassing to buy the one volume book because I look older than I should be! (Most people would think that I'm 18 or in my young adult years!)

Me like very much. They have a really dark quality to them which is very cool!
I'm not sure I get the HHB cover though, nor the PC one, but still what do I know?!

These are interesting. I like them, their simple and artistic.

the HHB is the two crowns of Prince Cor and Prince Corin..at least that's what I think. I'm confused about the Prince Caspian cover though.

I recently bought Lewis' paperback versions Mere Christianity and Screwtape Letters (it just arrived UPS, yay!) and the covers are similar to the new CoNs. It seems they're re-releasing his entire collection in this fashion.

I was confused by the HHB cover myself, they probably should have shown a horse on the cover, or a Calorman.
I think on the PC cover its suppose to be Caspian's sword outside the place where the dwarves and the badger found Caspian. That's the best I could come up with. :o

The HHB cover is I think the bands that Tarkans and Tarkheenas wore on their arms. That's my best guess.

I have the same set She-Elf has now, plus a real old set that I'm missing LWW from cuz I gave it away. I like that set and the covers very much. These new ones, the only ones I liked were LWW and TLB, I thought the others were kind of dark and dull.

the HHB cover is Cor and Corin's carowns, I think I said that before..I don't remember. It probably would have been better and less complicated if they had just put a horse on the cover, but hen it would have to much like the LB's cover. I like the idea of the two crowns.
