I know he died on the same day President Kennedy was assasinated, but what did he die OF exactly ? Old age ? Sickness ? What was exactly the cause of death ? I'm just wondering .

Heart failure. Complicated by pneumonia. He also suffered from osteporosis, but it was the heart failure that got him.

He also is said to have been a heavy smoker and drinker. He was never a very healthy person.

He was - a regular smoker, and he really liked beer. Not a fitness poster guy!

I think it was cancer as well...there was a documentary on about him in December on BBC and it said cancer hit him.

You might be getting confused with his wife, Joy Davidman, who died of bone cancer. He also experienced loss of calcium in his bones, but I've never heard of him having cancer.

I know that his wife died of cancer, but I read somewhere that he died of cancer..maybe not.

he was a christian or catholic wasnt he? i read he based the white witch on his beleif in the devil,
there's a funny thing with narnia tho, he ended the world whereas in most fantasy stories only a character dies.

Well, he didn't end the world, he transitioned from the lesser world to the greater one.

He was an Anglican.

I think that's strange that a man who loved Christ, God, and Christianity smoked...to me, smoking seems like a sin....

Well, it's carelessness, but then at that time they didn't understand much about the adverse effects of smoking. It wasn't until the mid-1960s that they began to study and publish the results of the connection between smoking and things like lung cancer and emphesyma. Smoking was a common adult habit at the time - almost everyone smoked.

Riggght! Comprehension dawning.....:)
LOl, it's like in Grease: Rizzo says that "it won't kill you" about smoking to sandy, b/c it was 1950s and they had no clue..
Duh, me, duh!
