Man, I knew I had a copy of the Chronicles of Narnia from my dad, so I went digging through my boxes yesterday and found my copy. They're from 1970 and have cover art like none of the other re-published books I've seen. Sadly, I'm missing a book, and since I don't have them in front of me, I can't say. But I'll look again tonight, seeing as I started reading the series over again.

I actually also have that series too plastik. They're all falling apart and almost yellowish from age but it's still the copy that I read the series originally on and also the copies that I re read it with. Although I have to say I think Imight like the newer art work covers.

i'm sorry to hear all that plastik... but you'll find them. hey. I'm re-reading the series aswell but only through the "new order". I bought mine from Amazon for $35 dollars. its a good deal, you get all seven books in a nice little box type thing with the newer images. you should think about doing that if you can't find all of them. plus its alway good to have a nice clean and new copy of them

I vaugely remember seeing an old copy of LWW in my fifth grade classroom. It had a picture of all the kids in fur coats going into the wardrobe, and Edmund (I think, could have been someone else) was looking over his shoulder at you. Never saw it again. Are those the ones you're taling about?

If so, those are the ones I have... my aunt gave them to me. She got them at a garage sale, but they're in really good shape... Not so with my LOTR books, which are a little newer (published in '73 instead of '70), but falling apart horribly, probably because I'VE had them longer, and when I have books I really like I take them with me everywhere until they're torn to shreds... (And yes, even afterwards!)

I have that set too that Y. Fish described. My mom got them before she was married in the seventies.

Haven't seen that series before. But the pic of Caspian in Plastics Avatar is from my series of books (Literally, I scanned the covers for Paul)

Sorry to dig up an old thread my first time posting. I actually found this board searching on Yahoo for these old editions. These were the books I read when I read the chronicles as a kid. The art work on the covers are fantastic. For some reason, that chunky, solid artwork inspired a lot of imagination while reading the books and I absolutely love these editions. Does anyone know any more about these books? Who did the art? From what I can tell these versions were published from 1970 to the late 80s. I've been searching ebay for a set of these.

When i was in grade Three, my teacher read our class LWW. Her copie was FIRST EDITION PUBLISHING!! She told us that it's so valuable that this will be the last time that she'd read the book to a class. I was really sad to hear that, so for christmas, i went to our bookstore and get her a new copy. Then when i gave it to her, she actually gave me the book! i was in aw... well, there's my story. i hope it inspired some of you to buy your teachers books :p

In this edition, Aslan says "WOW!" instead of "Rarrhaaahrarrrrr!"
