So, what are some pet peeves you have?
Slight mispronounciations of words drive me crazy.
My biggest pet peeve though is unoriginality, especially in screen names (Anything involving SSJ, Sephitoth, or JesusFreak drive me insane.) I just have this thing with people who can't put thought into their name...

My pet peeve is when people use bad langauge in public. Specially if there are children around.

Erm... Pet peeves are:
Overdramatics from people who really have no problems (i.e myself and almost all other teenagers :o ).
The way that all RE teachers don't actually have a clue what they're on about, especially when it comes to christianity it seems... And then when you challenge them about they say, 'Hehe, I think I know a LEETLE bit more about religion than you do... :cool: ' :mad:
The way people always mope around about cartoon pink teddy bears and fluffy puppies... ;) Sorry, just had to add that one in... It just wouldn't be a list of my peeves without it...

'Hehe, I think I know a LEETLE bit more about religion than you do.
LOL! People are going to be saying that to you on a variety of subjects in addition to religion for the rest of your life, and it is annoying every time!
But really, that business about the fluffy puppies, that's just mean! You surely love a fluffy puppy as much as the next person ...

Careful there! It's really easy to start a feud (not that you're trying to; I can just see how this could turn that way, so I'm trying to head anything off).
FallofFingolfin, I do understand you're sentament...at least, I am a Christian, and I do find things that call themselves "Christian", and really are not, irritating. Things like Legelism, etc.
Secularists can be irritating to, when they try to make Christians look silly. (mind you, I'm not against debating, just smashing up people's belifes with nothing to back [the smashing] up)
:)

my biggest pet peeve is when i'm trying to tell them a story or explain something and then they cut me off mid sentence and she "oh yeah i know what you mean" it bothers me so much
oh and when like something is off a little bit or it's not perfect i get aggrivated (everyone thinks i'm a perfectionist(sp?)

Hmm...where to begin? lol! I think I'd have to say, for starters, a proud look. My folks and I enjoy a good walk in the evening...at our mall, where we keep somewhat warmer. But when you walk around certain people, they don't even take an effort to move for you, they expect you to move for them. Oh well, the cat will mew and the dog shall have its day, I reckon...

Whoa whoa whoa! That is a very harsh statement.
Religion is your choice, and always! I don't care who you are, I just want you to believe in what you believe in without insulting or intruding on others.
Dernhelm
11-17-2005, 07:03 PM
Mmmm...The problem is that Christianity teaches that there is only one way to God; so if we are to believe in what we believe in, we must believe that – and as we are to hate all evil, and our religion teaches that that is an evil, we must hate it. Now, that may sound like we have to go around harassing everyone; but it doesn't. I think CS Lewis puts this very well...but I don't remember where :o. Basically,...In the bible it says "Love your neighbor as yourself." Well, your neighbor sins, right? So how can you love him, if you are to hate sin? But you sin too, and you don't hate yourself! You are to hate the sin, not the person. Just as you are to hate your own sin, even though you do not hate yourself.
So we can hate evil, and not insult, or intrude, on others...not that we can't try to convince them (nicely :)) that they are wrong.

That happened to me once! My dad's a pastor and at the annual conference there were these youth who were trying to see if they could hug more people then the Bishop. And I was attacked by the hugging people. I was just sitting there minding my own business.

After being raised in colder climes (i.e., in the USA), but living in the South and in Latin America, mine is people entering a room or place of work and not greeting the people there or even acknowledging them whatsoever.
For all of those who despise rampant Christian hugging, try Latin America! There it's kissing: ladies with ladies, ladies with men, and in certain places, men with men. In Argentina some time back I was greeted with a solid kiss on the cheek by a good-looking, thoroughly masculine young man, a pastor and a married man with three kids. And he wasn't the only one. It's not exactly my cup of tea, but I have to say, returning to the States where people will not even extend slight courtesies at times (especially in certain regions that shall go unnamed), well, wet cheek aside I have my preferences. It sure puts hugging in perspective...

I'm a big fan of hugging, or if you not very familiar with some one a hand shake..kissing on the cheeck is acceptable now I've reached an age where I don't get really embarrased or think 'oh soandso must fancy me!?'. I can see how it's not for everyone though.
It winds me up when people don't say thank you, just 2 little words, but they mean so much.
Thanks! xx

I never really hug anyone unless it's one of my closest friends. I don't go hugging strangers. Usually I'll hug someone I haven't seen in a LONG time to make them feel like I still care about how they're doing and all. But besides that hugs, they're a rarity.
Okay, something that irks me. Guys who won't open doors for girls. LOL

ROTFLOL, "I'm so with you in agreement on that. I work at the theaters here, and we have whats become a common trend amonst some theatres now is a 'Babies day out' where every 2nd thursday on our calendar we invite mothers or fathers to come to a baby friendly environment with their screaming little tikes to watch a movie without feeling like they're disrupting the show when they get all fusy.. I just gotta roll my eyes and blahh... The more I hear aww.. The more uglier I find babies.. They all look the same... Except sometimes you get these freakishly deformed ones with big alien heads who get the extra AWWWW.. But when the people going AWWW walk away you can see in their expressions that their face that they're thinking that's ONE UGLY KID..

Mmmm yes, that's a good one too.. I mean your told to respect your fellow man and judge or be judged or somewhat.. There's a whole bunch of stuff along those lines.. HELLO PEOPLE!! The phrase.. 'Respect your fellow man' is not 'Respect your fellow Christian man' It's not very respectful when you go against these oaths that your taught and attack others based on their own seperate beliefs .... Oh blah.. This has been a busy, entertaining and informative day on the boards.. I never bother with places that deal with a kind of delay chat response before.. But This is fun *^^*

When people who are older than me think they know everything because they are older and they, in turn, try to treat me like I'm a little girl. It drives me absolutely nuts, and I hate it when those same people try to shush me. Believe it or not, with 35 years behind me, people still do it and it drives me insane, and it's pushed me away from a lot of folks!
I do not like it when people tell me they will do something and never do it. That is, those who cannot keep a promise. If they don't want to do it, they shouldn't promise to do it.
Lying, deceit, hypocracy, and ego-trips also get on my nerves.

There are not a lot of things tha bug me. Its because I'm really slow at detecting negative qualities in people, and only after I spend enormous amount of time with a perosn do they start getting on my nerves.
But one thing I absolutly hate is when people talk trash about a person's physical qualities. It is something the person cannot control, so I don't understand why they need to insult them that way.
Second, I hate it when people chew with their mouths open. If you need to talk, cover your mouth with your hand.
Third, people who waste my time. I don't mind waiting for you within a time limit. If I have to wait a couple hours for you unexpectedly, I will get a little mad (this is especially true for rehearsals, when I waits 5 hours to do a 5 min dance :mad: )
That's all I can think of right now...and thats probably a good thing :o

What gets me the most is chat speak. There's nothing more annoying to me than when people are too lazy to type quick four or five letter words.
It's "your/you're" not "ur"
It's "you" not "u"
It's "what" not "wat", there's an H!
It's "to" not "2"
It's "I see" not "IC"
It's "good-bye" not "g2g"
No wonder English majors are a dying breed.

I also hate it when someone leaves my door to my bedroom open. I also hate being hugged or touched...

When people use chat speak on a forum-that's one of mine, because it looks like they have little education when they can't use english right (that's just my personal view, as I find it hard to read-a forum is a forum, not a chat room). Oh, and when people swear at/around me-that too. >_< Also, people who role-play like this:
Dan: i feel bad. *sits down and cries.*
You're supposed to role-play like you were writing an important school paper or application-complete paragraphs, proper grammar, english, spelling, etc.-like a story.

Whooboy, this might be a long list:
* egotism
* ignorance
* anyone who tries to force feed me their beliefs
* people who steal/copy artwork
* loud noises / loud crowds
* misbehaving / out of control children
* bad parents / entitlement parents (which links to above)
* young girls (12+) wearing clothes I'd be ashamed to
* young boys trying to dress "gansta" style
* people who abuse/neglect animals
* people who abuse people, be it emotional, verbal or physical
* earwigs
* my own phobias (mycophobia, one for balloons and t.v. static, tocophobia and agrophobia...whoopee)
* loud or obnoxious people
* people who whine (adults do whine, just not kids!)
* bad/inconsiderate drivers
* Extreemists/Fanatics in ANY sort've group

The use of Xmas in place of Christmas always annoys me. Granted it makes it more of a secular thing to spell it Xmas, it doesn't take away what it means. Also Xmas is just a lazy way to get out of writing the whole word.
What gets me the most is parents who don't control their kids/ parents who are bigger brats than their kids. I work in a roller rink and we do a lot of birthday parties for little kids nd so many parents just let their kids get away with anything. If I had pulled some of that stuff I would have been dragged home and spanked. And then there are those parents who are bratty and refuse to follow rules and get angry when they're told to follow the same rules their children have too. And then people wonder why kids can be so bad and disrespectful.

I hate the thing about the chewing gum. I don't like gums at all, they look so.. agh!
I don't like when people replace some letter with other letters. I mean, my language is Spanish, but people tend to replace "Qu" with "K" Lazy people! Here's an example:
When you say "What a beautiful day!" in Spanish that is "¡Qué bonito día! But there are persons who write "K bonito día" I hate when that happens.
I mean, when I'm writing in a language which is not Spanish, I expect people to forgive me because I can make mistakes, but not for my first language, and worse if those are intentional mistakes.
Oh yes, I almost forgot. I hate when my aunts and uncles pretend to know everything and try to control my life.

So many pet peeves! But first I feel that I must apologise to those such as Kitanna for doing chat talk on this forum hehe - I just get so used to it cos I never have any time to type things properly.
One of my pet peeves is people misusing the English language - it drives me crazy! (by the way is the correct spelling (and therefore the way you pronounce the word) not 'pronunciate' instead of 'pronounciate' which I noticed in the first post? - I think it is in England anyway...)

People who think life is all about what you wear.. and htis is really creepy... but people who have high voices.. not normal voices. higher than normal.... not when they're singing, when they're talking. I don't know why... but it just annoys me.

It drives me nuts when people start new Threads on topics which already have existing Threads.

When people don't say "Good-bye", or something of that sort, on the telepone.
When males don't open doors for females, and when females don't let the guys open doors for them because "We are just as capable as you! Haven't you heard of Women's Lib?"
Bad table mannars.
Both girls and guys saying inappropriate things around members of the opposite sex.
Girls and guys dressing inappropriately and treating eachother inappropriately.

umm when people call Edmund “Edward” :mad:
When people don’t study for final exams & big tests, fail, and go “I don’t get it! I studied for thirty whole minutes!”
Or, if they don’t study, I do, but they make a better grade than I do!!
also I absolutely HATE showoffs! Like omg… :eek:
one more… when people talk about absolutely NOTHING and wonder why people are getting impatient. Oh, I’m not done yet. But to save you from boredom, I’ll shut up. FOR NOW!!

You know what my pet peeve is?
Not having enough smilies to truly express your feelings...yeah, so you could say I experience this pet peeve EVERY DAY here. :D <- that pretty much expresses it that time though.
Another pet peeve I have is scratching my nails against something..like, if I get my nail stuck between my locker and lock and it drags and makes this shiver go up my spine GAH! I despise it...lol, cause I'm weird like that.
Another one is people who have signatures that are bigger than earth itself.
And people who think their Gangstas...not pretending, like, they REALLY think they are...they listen to all this rap and hip hop, and their like, albino... :rolleyes: (< this smiley doesn't completely express my feelings...becasue it's smiling..I want a rolleye smiley that ISN'T smiling for that one. ^_^) My school isn over populated by these people...
