Future Caspian Discussion Thread

Due to his success in "Kingdom of Heaven" former elf Bloom may play the young but valorous Caspian in the 2nd Disney flick of the Narnia series. With Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean, the Narnia sequel would make him a three time winner in the fantasy bonanza now hitting Hollywood.

His sudden availability is due to production problems on another project, which may delay release or completely send the film straght to dvd based on screenings responses. Opening room in his schedule is now available for a tight shoot on a strictly paced shooting schedule with pickups. The actor's slight frame and youthful appearance may convince audiences he is a boy Prince.

Is this why Disney is delaying principal photography for "Caspian"?

Bloom's current acting gigs end at the post prod on Caribbean 2 and principal filming Pirates 3. Rumors about the actor's unhappiness with proposed editing might be making him anxious to resume leading man roles.

He is unsigned to other projects as yet after those above.

2. Bloom is far too old to play Caspian. Bloom is around 30, Caspian should be 16/17ish.

3. Walden would logically cast an unknown talent to play Caspian, tis cheaper and more reliable.

Don't get me wrong, I like Orlando Bloom (heh I have like 6 small posters in my room of him), I thought he did great in LOTR and POTC - but he MUST NOT play Caspian, simply because he is too old to pull it off...others may differ with me, but I put my vote in for an unknown, between 14-17 years old.

I have to agree w/everyone else on this thread. I do like Bloom, I think he was very good in LOTR. But he is too old to play Caspian in Prince Caspian. And I think he's too well known to play him in VDT, everytime I would see him I would think of him as his character in LOTR. They need to find someone not as popular.

I agree with everyone else. I think that they would use unknown talent, such as the actors and actresses in LWW, at least for the children. Orlando Bloom is a good actor, but he's too widely known. I don't know if I would go see the movie if it had Orlando Bloom as Caspian. Maybe another character, like a mouse or something like that.

The effects were wonderful, the acting was pleasant.
But the storyline....

I love movies that have strong storylines and get very tired of the one that don't.
The details are fuzzy because I saw it a while ago, but I think it was the ending and the storyline that made me put my thumb down.

I am not a fan of orlando bloom. In POTC I really liked Johnny Depp, his work in LOTR was okay but I liked Arogan and Gandalf better. I would be outraged if he got the part. :mad: :eek:

I can't imagine Orlando Bloom playing Caspian either, IMHO he's just too old. Personally, because he made such a splash in LOTR, it might be unwise for them to cast him as Caspian, too many comparisons could hang in the air about his handling of the character and the role. For me personally, it just wouldn't work, it would simply feel too weird for me to watch an adult actor trying to play a teenager. Some can do it, but even still, I would be totally disappointed if they cast a well-known adult actor to play Caspian.

I hope that they will go after actors for this like they did with the Pevensie kids. In doing that, they are looking to use actors who don't already have a huge name, but who are just as good as the big names. To site an example with a question, how many of you knew who William, Skandar, Anna or Georgie were before LWW came out? I had never heard these names before, but now I do, because these kids have shown that they are artists in the craft, and I think if the casting directors for Prince Caspian are smart, then they will go in the same direction and give us some new names.

The UK has some very fine and rather remarkable talent, the problem is that they have underutilized it. Having two huge films with British actors 'Harry Potter' and 'Narnia', will help them to do use the talent that comes out of that country.

Back on topic, I am seriously hoping that they will want to go go younger when casting Caspian so that the actor can grow into his role for VDT. But, that's just my honest opinion. LWW did, to some extent reach my expectations as far as characterization is concerned, so I think that if PC goes the same route, then they will as well.

i totally agree. in the official movie companion it said that they were looking for regular people not brilliant child actors - they were looking for the characters themselves, not impersonators.

I did not see Peter Pan, so I have no idea how good this Jeremy fellow is at acting. But the pictures of him that I have seen.....I just wouldn't be satisfied if he were cast as Caspian.

The Telmarines are NOT descendants of Frank and Helen, maybe you're confusing them with the Archenlanders. The Telmarines were not from Narnia, they are of an unknown origin. They entered Narnia from a portal on an island and remained there until Aslan gives them the option to go back at the end of PC.

They can make Caspian have whatever accent they wish since his ancestry wasn't spelled out in the books. All they have is a basic physical description to try to stick to.

I love Jeremy Sumpter! But i don't think he is Prince Caspian!

ok so i just read all the posts in this thread....I love Jeremy sumpter but he is just too modern, after seeing him in Clubhouse i can't picture him in PC! Liam Aiken.....I dunno i will have to see how he does in Airborne(I can't wait to watch it i love the book, I wish Emma Watson would have played Kate instead of Panabaker!) I think it has to be a unknown cuz thats what these kinda movies are for! They give the unknowns a chance!!!

Why don't we stop spreading rumors about Orland Bloom and Jeremy Sumpter, and try something new for a change: Have so faith in the casting and let them cast a new face!!!!! :eek: I'm tried of people who have alreadt done something being recommended. One Bloom is too old, yes girls he's too old you weirdoes. Two Sumpter isn't in anyway that good of an actor for something like this. Last time I check no one I know saw Peter Pan, and quite frankly he played a part that was played by all girls before him. I don't see the point in making Caspian someone like that, and new faces work. Last time I checked no one is complaining about William, Anna, Geogrie, or Skandar (i can't spell sorry). Furthermore no one has ever complained about Dan, Rupert, or Emma from Harry Potter. Also I think that Edward Speelers, the lead in Eragon, is going to do fine too. So quit making up stuff about this guys, and let the castings people do their magic!!!!

OK thanks! (I never saw Peter Pan) Haley Joel Osment is 17 years old, he is 5'6'' tall and has blond hair and blue eyes. (no I am NOT a big fan. I looked all this stuff up, just for you guys! :D) I don't know if he can fake a british accent.

As the books were written by an English man and there is no mention of accents except in other countries like in HHB, it has been assumed that Narnians are British.

And unknown would be much better. Jeremy Sumpter just seems like a pretty boy to me.We need someone who is good looking but comes across convincingly as a fighter as well.

i think jeremy sumpter would be awesome! as long as he can do a british accent! lol when i read prince caspian, i had an image in my head of what he would look like, and jeremy sumpter is the closest. i cant think of any other actor who looks like the guy im my head! does that make sense???

He won't stand a chance unless he can do a Brit accent! :mad: He's good in Peter Pan, and he has the looks for Caspian, but I wasn't impressed with his acting ability. It was OK but I think they should find someone new like they did w/ Lucy. :)

Personally, I would like an unknown to play Caspian, it's always very nice to have someone new brought out by these films. And Jeremy's not exactly new, I mean, a few of my friends are already obsessed in him.

Just because someone looks good doesn't mean we should just pull them out and make them Caspian.

Sumpter isn't a very good actor anyway. We need someone who looks good and can pull of the caspian part very well.
