Yes, when I first read all of The Chronicles of Narnia, I thought they were so much alike. I pictured him to have dark brown hair, a bit lighter tha edmund, blue eyes, obviously, slightly plump, but not fat and really grouchy and most likely to bee seen with bettles. The majority of that I got from the book, the rest my mind.

In VODT bbc thing, which I have not seen, there is a picture of him and he looks exactly nothing like what I imagened.

About the personality, they were both jerks in the begining, and like you said, Aslan changed them. I still think I like Edmund better than Eustace because Estace was way worse than Edmund. (whoa double E's. I just thought of that!) In The Silver Chair, when Eustance went to Narnia with Jill, I still didn't like Eustance as much. He started acting all cocky, how he knew all about Narnia. Either way, both great characters CS Lewis created.

Definitely something CS Lewis did on purpose. It was nice to see yet another thing recurring in the books- but I think my favorite part of these characters was their interaction between each other in VDT-- Edmund absolutely hated him, because Eustace reminded him so much of himself before his first visit to Narnia.

Hmm, that makes sense, about why Edmund hated him. I should have thought of that!

I completely agree! There are many similarities between the two characters. Eustace was the one whoose behaviors seemed to "get under my skin" the most but I felt bad for him when he was turned into a dragon. It also sounded in the book like Eustace's behaviors were encouraged by his family, can't remember the exact quote though, but I clearly remember reading it in VDT. But either way, Aslan makes likeable characters out of Eustace and Edmund alike.

LOL I know the feeling--I really don't like Eustace, but Edmund is okay after LWW. He was really annoying in that one.

Hey- did anyone read one of the first drafts that Walden Media did of the script? It was posted on NarniaWeb yesterday, dated in 2003-- It's a bit different, and Peter and Edmund are a whole lot meaner to each other in the older version!! (But still funny!)

In the interests of a family site, please only use the word h*ll when you are talking about the opposite of heaven. Thank you!

There is definately a simitlarity between Ed and Eustace, but at the same time they were very different. I think C.S. Lewis intended it that way, but Edmund sort of made a full blown change if you ask me. Eustace is always better, but if you recall in PC Edmund followed Lucy (or wanted to at least) even though he didn't see Aslan...That really shocked me, but it was nice.

Edmund and Eustace are actually my favourite characters in the series because it's inspiring (is that the word for it?) to see that no matter how bad we get and how much we sin, we can repent and WILL be forgiven by God.

They were both sinful, but they did sin in different ways. In Voyage, didn't Edmund say something to Eustace along the lines of "You were only an --- but I was a traitor?"

Yes, he did say that...the thing about Eustace only being an a**...it was after Eustace was turned back into a human, and he felt really bad about what he did.

That's what makes them both my favourite characters. They are so similar, but I guess Eustace is kind of a 'know-it-all' sometimes, and matter-of-factly. I think Edmund was more of the bad one. Eustace was only annoying. But my one of my favourite parts is when they both talk after Eustace changes back to human. It's so touching. *wipes away tears*
