does anyone think that the hermit's home in HHB is a lot like Aslan's garden?
Is it the same thing?

You mean the one where the tree of life is in MN? The geography's wrong - the hermit lives at the southern end of Archenland, but Digory had to go west out of Narnia to fetch the apple.
