Lewis was the hugest fanboy, he was heavily and unabashedly influenced by so much, including Tolkien. :)

Read 'That Hideous Strength' where the main character is based on Tolkien, and meets up with Merlin, who happens to be the last of the Numenorians.

I used to have a writing group with several friends, and we borrowed each others' names, places, and characters, all the time. :)

I'd join, I need a kick in the behind to start writing again. Or to continue writing as it may be.

John Robert Ruel Tolkien was good friends with C.S. Lewis. Tolkien and Lewis both shared their ideas with each other and admired each other for their literary skills as they were creating such masterpieces pieces as the ones that have turned into movies nowadays

Tolkien admired Lewis for a lot of his writing, but he never liked CoN. He thought they were uninspired.

CON was much better that LOTR in my opinion

They're not apples and oranges, but they are very very different. I think Tolkien just threw himself so much into his work, and he had all that history worked out and stuff... maybe he thought all fantasy worlds should have such historical depth at lotr. CoN obviously does stand on its own though.

I actually noticed that similarity after I saw LOTR and read the Narnia series. I thought it was interesting.

I _had_ noticed it. But I wonder if Tolkien's Bree, in turn, might not have been suggested to his mind by Brie cheese, pronounced the same way?
