You can read back in this thread and there are a few explanations, but basically it was a song that Skandar made up because each time they finished shooting a scene, someone on set would say "Check the gate" which meant to check the film to see if the shot is clear. If it was, they used it in the film. If not, they had to do it all over again. If you have the 2 disc set you can watch "the children's majical journey' and they explain it better there.

Oh, man. There's a lot of good stuff on there. There is a map of Narnia that you can make go to different locations and it explains about them with pictures from the book illustrations and the movie. There is a similar thing with the characters. There is also a spot on C. S. Lewis with lots of pictures. The childrens' magical journey is my favorite though.

me 'n 2 of my other friends made a hip-hop version dance of CHECK THE GATE. funny as heck! and then later on at school, i saw a gate, and we did check the gate. everytime we dance, we always do check the gate. we even tried 2 teach my english teacher (who looks exactly like aslee simpson) the dance. Check The Gate means when a crew member opens the gate on a camera and checks the gate to make sure no hairs or anything has got into the gate!
If there is something in there they have to reshoot, if there isn't they are safe and can carry on with everything else.
