I could tell you a lot of the Elvish, only, because I can't really spell any of it, and becuase some of it wasn't subtitled, I can't write them down. But, I do know a lot.

What's the difference between Quenya and Sindarin Elvish?

What's the difference between Quenya and Sindarin Elvish?

The Quenya is probably the earliest, most original form of the Elvish language, and it is the language used by the Valar. In it we learn the true names of the Wizards (Saruman = Curumo, Gandalf = Olórin, Radagast = Aiwendil, and then there's Alatar and Pallando, of whom we know little, etc.). And most of the other Elven names we know can be translated into something in the Quenya from the Sindarin (i.e. Celeborn = Teleporno).

The Sindarin is the most common form of the Elvish tongue and is probably the one in which most of the dialogue we read in LOTR is used. Of this I know little else, but I believe you can find more information on Wikipedia.org.

i love learning about words! ya know, where they came from what they mean, and how we use them now if its different from its original intent. i think the name is etymology, word origins, something like that. i did a book report on Tolkien once, and found out he was interested in it too, which i thought was cool..... :D
