My oldest brother is 1.5 years older than me, next comes my sister who's about 1 year older. Then it's 2.5, 4.5 and 7 years younger.

K, here's the basic format for posts so we don't get all answers and no new questions:
1. Your answer, with any comments/explanations
2. Your question.

People can answer a question that they didn't see before somebody else answered it, but you don't have to.

I'm 16, almost 17!!!!!!!!!

Have you ever, or are you currently, considered being a lumberjack?

well there was that one time back at NAU Band Camp.
"Thank you for using Lumberjack Crosswalks, have a nice day"
(imagine stress on second syllable of "using" and said in the tone of a stewardess)
lol, long story or rather short story, but definately fit for the Duffers.

Do you know what the Latin phrase "quo vadis" means?

I found ND to be funny--to the extent that it's easy to quote, but was bored to death while watching it. And I did attend church this morning, tg!

What kind of car do you drive, and what would you want to drive?

I haven't been to church for a long time, although I was speaking to a friend last night and we though we might go again (you guys- i blame you all!). Napolean Dynathing looked a bit rubbish so i didn't bother.

I, even at the age of 124 still can not drive, but if I could I would like a camper van- my grandad has one and it rocks!

What was the last meal you ate?

Mercury
03-01-2005, 06:52 AM
the last meal was an apple. :D

i don't have a car and i don't know what car I would want, i.e. I don't really care as long as it's not old and rusty and super small. I live in a city, but would rather be in a suburb or even out in the country. I went to church, but am reconsidering if I'll go again any time soon. Exactly six hours ago I got up and put on some clothes. I didn't see ND and i think lumberjack would be a cool occupation, but being a lady I wouldn't do good in the job.

Alrighty, my question.... what occupation would you want to spend you live with, regardless of money? It has to be something useful though. Not something like hanging out on the beach all day. :p

Hey, that sounds excellent! I'm kinda up that same alley, I'm just still trying to figure out how I could possibly switch over to working in that area. I should be going to school and get an appropriate degree. Just no idea how that's supposed to happen. Well, who knows. Most people don't start working in politics till they're well in their thirties or even forties. So I still got a couple years to gather some experience, study more for myself, and maybe go to university at some point.

Capstick
03-01-2005, 08:55 PM
Yes, I went to church last Sunday; the only time I don't make it to church is if I'm sick; and even then it has to be pretty serious to prevent me from going-

The last thing I had to eat (er, drink) was a cup of coffee a couple of hours ago-

Six hours previously I was getting some schoolwork done (I just finished now)-

I think I'd like to pursue a career in Law ... however, what would my ideal job be? h'mmmm ... I'm not sure ... being world-dictator has its benefits ...

Wouldn't it be awesome to be a nomad? Nope - I happen to like the benefits of civilization, so I think I'll stay as I am ;)

Question: If you could go to any college, regardless of price or whatnot, which college whould it be? (sorry, i stink at asking questions)

I have absalutly no idea; I haven't given going away to college much thought-It really depends on how several other factors work out in my life before then.

Mercury
03-02-2005, 02:34 PM
nomadic life... hm, yep, I'd at least try it. Who knows, I might enjoy it. No ties, no stress, no useless rabble, your family moves with you all the time (I'm thinking of nomads like in Mongolia). Sounds quite alright to me.

As for the college. Well, it'd be university rather than college. And I would go to any university that is the best to study philosophy. I even know already what I would write my dissertation on if it ever came to the point of me becoming a doctor. ;) I haven't seen too many universities in the US, but those that I've been to I liked... that would be Berkley CA, DBU TX and Princeton. And I even took some classes at a small local university in NJ for a semester, which I really enjoyed. US universities are so different and a lot better than German universities, I think I would be happy with any decent local uni I could get into. But for the life of me I would not waste my time again studying at university in Germany. I already wasted two years on that. So yeah, if I was rich I'd take my chances at the best possible US university to study philosophy. Any recommendations?

Warrior-Poet51088
03-02-2005, 11:11 PM
Oooh! DBU's really close to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO TO DBU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lol, I have no idea how good of an institution it is, but, yeah, that'd be cool to meet, well, anybody from here in person!

I'm deciding where I should go right now. I have no one school that I really, really want to go to; I've got about 10 I'm interested in, though. Merc, I couldn't tell you where to go to study philosophy (if I do, I'll tell you!)

Nomad-Not sure. I like the luxuries of civilization, but I hate interacting with people en masse, although I love travelling/exploring everywhere!

Ummmmmm..........................Everybody, y'all do know who Zephraim Cochrane is, right???????

OK, if I could go to any college, I'd go to Oxford or Cambridge in the UK, cuz that'd be aweseome & I could get a degree in linguistics and writing!

Aragorn, I have a friend (sorta friend) who studies at DBU, which is why I was there and got to see quite a bit of it. I really liked it, the whole atmosphere and everything. The friend I have there should finish this summer if everything went alright. But I don't know, we haven't spoken in a while. And I'm not even sure he'd be pleased to have me there. :p Maybe Texas would be a little hot, too. lol! I remember nearly dieing in the heat when I was there, ha ha. QUESTION: What's your favorite book/author and what's your favorite literary genre?

Dragon
03-04-2005, 03:24 AM
- Sorry Aragorn, not all of us know who Zephraim Cochrane is ... I'm afraid that literary reference is lost on me...
Zephraim Cochrane was a Star Trek dude who made first contact with Vulcans. I know this only because I have Star Trek "First Contact." "First Contact" and "Insurrection" are pretty much my only sources of knowledge on the startrek universe. (they're the only ones I have, and the other movies I've only seen once if at all) ...this is not a trek nerd talking. ...I am a nerd however! lol watched stargate most of my freetime today.

my favorite book/author and literary genre is a very tough question. I haven't been doing a lot of reading recently. But I do have a question: How many Alfred Hitchcock lovers or haters are out there? I'm a Hitchcock lover. What other directors do y'all like? I'm starting to like Christopher Nolan because of "Memento," a truly inventive film, and I'm hoping he'll be just as inventive with "Batman Begins."

Mercury
03-04-2005, 08:03 AM
no, it's not snowing here currently, actually it's been nice and sunny for a few days now. But still very cold and snow is on the way for Sunday.

As for favourite author and genre... phew, well, I do read as much as I have time for, but somehow I still feel I have not read nearly enough to say what genre and author I like best. The author I read most of is C.S.Lewis, clearly because I like his style and how he makes sense in all his books and manages to amaze me, make me sad, happy or just boggle my mind.

Beside Lewis what I read most are either more or less philosophical books (fictional like the Space Trilogy or K-Pax, as well as non fictional like Descarte or Nietzsche... I hate Nietzsche, though. :p ), or historical / biographic novels. I also love (semi-)scientific books, that talk about historical and/or religious and/or mythological documantation, discovery and research. Reading usually always serves two purposes at once for me... firstly, education and quenching my thirst for knowledge, broadening my horizon, and secondly entertainment. Hardly any book I pick up I read simply for entertaining myself. I only do that when I'm really tired of baking my noodle about something and then I look for some easy, enticing read. But usually it's the more taxing literature that I'm drawn to.

QUESTION: What's your favorite book/author and what's your favorite literary genre?

pacifiquesea
03-04-2005, 12:05 PM
Hmmm na na... how can you pick a favorite author? Or literary genre? C.s. Lewis of course, Umberto Eco, Tolkien, Snicket, Gorey, Arthur Golden, Douglas Adams, Dickens, Shakespeare,....I mean, that's just off the top of my head. sci fi, fantasy, historical fiction, philosophy, religion, literary theory, grammar, history, this is getting painful. Can't pick a favorite, sorry.

Question: If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what would it be?

GrayCloak
03-04-2005, 01:03 PM
Yeah, that would get a bit boring haveing to watch it everyday....

-My favorite genra is probably fantasy; but unfortuanatly after I read LOTR when I was younger I haven't yet found a book that doesn't seem like a pale imatation of it. So after clearing out the fantasy section in my local library two or three times, I've now turned back to my first love sci-fi. And of course theology books have always been big; I have a stack I'm working through right now; starting with Rushdooney and Lewis. (to answer the origonal question chappy...fav. book LOTR. fav. fictional Authers Tolkien + Lewis. I just like taking a lot more words to say it)

-And I don't know what movie I'd pick above the others. It would probably be something like 'Forbidden Planet' because it's a classic sci-fi film-that, and has a robot in it! ;)

Sorry I missed Dragon's question....

-I can't say I love Alfred Hitchcock, but I certainly respect his work; I usually watch movies with my dad, and since he's not too fond of Hitchock, I've been seriously limited in what I've seen of him. In terms of other directors, I'm not sure...I've always been fond of Spielburg, and of course Schorsi is pretty good. And M. Night Shyamalan is a favorite...but that's just because I like his films in general. (and yes, I butchered spelling thier names, but I can't spell in general, so there! :-)

-If I were an animal I would be a wolf-a gray one; big suprise! :)

-And my favorite character from CoN (Besides Aslan) are Edmund and Eustus, but I'm always had a soft spot for Reepicheep.

Good question. They all had their trials and pain, and I'm a wimp, so I just have to figure out who suffered the least... just kidding. Quite honestly, I've always loved Rosie Cotton, and she was just so cute in the movie! I'd love to be her and just live in the shire and end up marrying Sam.

But for main characters I'd have to say Eowyn, even though she had all of those traumatic physical and emotional experiences, she came out stronger than before, and she got to marry Faramir after being about the coolest warrior next to Aragorn.

I want this question to continue. I didn't know we had to specify. Sorry!

-Brain, from 'Pinky and the Brain' ;)
-Wako from 'Animaniacs'
-The origonal Superman
-And...*drum roll* The Tick, from 'The Tick'. BEST SHOW EVER! It was so wasted on kids......

-And when it comes to LOTR characters, I've always wanted to be Sam. (Though I know I'm a girl...) He was loyal and couragous until the end, and I've always liked to think I'd follow my best friend into Mordor.

Though to be honest....I woundn't say no to looking like Arwen...;)

Went on the bus once, didn't mind it. It's a good idea - I support the concept.

Angry...uninformed opinions (though I myself fall into that trap I admit), traffic, public displays of affection (really gross ones, you know), people who try to force their opinions on others, my job, and getting squirted in the face with a water gun. I really hate that.

Sorry, Narnians, but I am a dumb bunny when it comes to build your own computer. You all smarties can answer that one, or I will offer a question for anyone who is challenged like me:

Questions:

1. What's your favorite vacation spot? (for Inkspot-level Narnians) or
2. Have you ever built your own computer and if so what are the stats? (for Aragorn-level genius types)

I have built my own computer, my brother and I had an old one, so we took it apart and completely re-built it.

The stats are:

Pentium II/celeron/390m
Gforce II/mx420/64megabite graphics card
Maddog soundware
212sdr/ram

The only place I've been on vacation is England when I was about four, so I don't really remeber much.

Anyhow, I've built my own comp (with my friends' help), and , Lordwilling, I'll be ordering more RAM this weekend so I'll have a full Gig (lots of RAM makes the computer run smoother, essentially)!

Well, we did "buy" the parts. And we did "assemble" the machine. And by the way, for a P II, 212 megs of SDR ram is pretty good. Although if you're running Windows XP, anything less than 512 is just pathetic.

(Also when you're using PC133 ram, it gets a little expensive  )

GrayCloak
03-19-2005, 09:24 PM
-I've never built my own computer, just upgraded the one I have-which if flippin' expensive 'cus my machine only takes pc130 RAM, and even then it's iffy about taking it. I had a big problem where it wasn't accepting this RAM I just bought for it...and then the sound stopped working for a while...and then it didn't want to use my flatscreen monitor and kept blacking out...For a while I was pretty sure the machine was possesed, and I'm still not convinced it isn't.

-I don't go on vacation much, but my best one was last year when I went down to California for the West Cost Worldview Conferance. I hate California, but the conferance was great.

-And there are too many movies I like to call a favorite. I have, however, seen FOTR EE somewhere over 40 times-so that's probably on the short list of favorite films.

No I mean like DC Talk, Rebecca St. James, Newsboys, etc where the names: God, Lord, and Jesus are quite frequent. I suppose they aren't really contemporary anymore. Q. What is your favorite kind of music?

Nonexistant. I really love all kinds of music; and it depends upon what I'm doing when I'm listening to it; or who is with me at the time. Good example: Last week I was happily listening to Josh Groban as I cooked-currently I'm enjoying Green Day's 'American Idiot' cd. (Green Day's one of my favorite bands btw.)

-I've never spoken in a fake accent (although people have told me that I do have a bit of a British accent when I speak)...

-Favorite Music: h'mmm, that's a bit of an ambiguous question; do you mean what style of music? Or are you asking favorite bands/songs? I really enjoy listening to music from the sixties and seventies (i.e., "oldies;" at the moment, I'm listening to the Dooby Brothers on my radio); however, that's kind of over-generalized. Specifically, I like listening to music that has a piano and acoustic guitar. Some of my favorite groups though would be 1) Don McLeon; 2) Simon & Garfunkle; 3) the Beatles... and my favorite song would definitely be "American Pie" (NOT to be confused with American Idiot, which Gray mentioned earlier ;))

I am not afraid of rodents and used to keep some as pets -- mouse, hamster, guinea pig -- but I also would not like a wild rat near me.

I am a huge fan of Star Trek & The Next Generation, would like to be able to see all the episodes of Deep Space Nine, and have never gotten into Enterprise. I am such a geek, I even read Star Trek Novels from the original series, TNG & DSN.

And I am living for an October visit to Las Vegas so I can endlessly ride the revamped motion ride at the Las Vegas Hilton, "The Star Trek Experience: Borg Invasion." Can't wait.

*grins* Simplicity 9891 I believe is what it is. The dark blue one. Except mine's purple, it looks kind of like Arwen's from the Departure of the Fellowship scene. However, I found a dark navy velour dress at Goodwill, and I just bought the pattern for sleeves, so I can make Arwen's blood red gown. :D

The furthest away ive been is southwest USA last year in the summer. C'etait tres cool!

I havent ever farmed worms but I once got bought a ladybird (ladybug for you Americans) circuis for one of my birthdays. Now that I think about it, it was quite cruel to harvest a number of defenceless insects together, put them in an enclosed space to see them balance on tightropes and climb ladders, but when I was little it was really funny :D

Hmmmm.... cant think of a gooden so ill leave these going.

oo, I got one. What's the scariest thing that has happened to you? When were you the most afraid in your life?

inkspot
04-05-2005, 06:38 PM
I stood on the dividing line between east and west in Russia/Central Asia, and I have been in Calcutta, India. I am so bad with a map, I don't know which one was farther from my Texas home. India felt like it was farther away!

The time I was most afraid in my life was really stupid: I was washing my hair with my eyes closed in the shower, and my husband was out in the water closet, and when he left, he switched out the lights by habit -- but I didn't know he had turned off the lights, and when I opened my eyes, I could see nothing, pitch black! I thought I had somehow disconnected my retinas by vigourous hair washing. It took my breath away! I closed my eyes again, and rubbed at them, opened them, still nothing but black. Thank God then the lights came on and my Mike called, "Sorry!" Whew!

I guess I am pretty lucky if the scariest thing I remember was a few seconds of being blind. I'll pass this question along:
What's the scariest thing or the thing you fear most?

Well, my dad had gone to the WCWC (West Coast Worldview Conference) so it was just me, my siblings and my mom. I woke up at about four in the morning and went downstairs to use the bathroom (my younger brother was sick, so I wanted to leave the one upstaris upon for him, in case he needed to use it). As I came down the stairs I heard a noise at the door, so I went to check it out. There, crouched down at the door, was a man trying to key open the lock (I think he was trying to do the "credit card trick"). I ran upstairs into my dad's room, opended his night stand, and got his 9mm. By the time I got down the guy had run off. We called the police but they never did find the guy.

Belated Congratulations, Dragon -- and Rosy! Your achievement is daunting.Or something.

Last April (a year ago now) I took a class in breath-hold diving, or free diving as it is also called. One one breath you dive as deep as you can (or stay under water as long as you can, there are different categories).

I took the class on Grand Cayman, where my class-mates were all working in the sea every day, a lot of them were turtle wranglers at the turtle farm, so they free dived every day. I was the oldest and fattest in class! (The runt of the litter as far as free diving achievement, you could say.)

But on the last day of class, I completed my target dive to 20 meters! Some of our teachers could go to 80 meters, so my target was nothing to them, but to me it was very special!!!

Same question: what are you proudest of or what is your latest achievement?

The most famous person I ever met:
When I was a teenager, one of my best friends and I were totally wound up in opera and very, very poor, so when Luciano Pavarotti and Dame Joan Sutherland were in concert in town, we could not even afford the cheap seats. But so star-struck were we, we found out where this society reception was going to be AFTER the concert ($500 per ticket!), dressed to the nines and staked out the lobby of the place, hoping we could at least score an autograph.

When Pavarotti arrived, he was all alone, walking through the lobby saying "Bon journo" to people, so we dashed up and said, "Mr.Pavarotti, what a great concert" etc, as if we knew. He seemed delighted, thank you, thank you ...

Then he took us each by the arm, and said, "Shall we all go in together?" and brought us right through the entrance, into the reception, no tickets, apparently his guests. It was so FUN!

It was nice 'cause it was all backstage away from the crowds, who can get rather obsessive sometimes if you know what I mean. I hope it isn't considered rude to jump in on a conversation like this? I'm still finding my way round the ettiquette of this sort of thing, anyhoo......
Famous people I have met while working and living in the fair city of Nottingham; Ricky Thomlinson (used to buy all his kids and grandkids books at the bookshop I worked in when ever he was working in town)

Ronnie James Dio, at the same bookshop, I didn't speak to him and a friend said I should have asked him if had been in a Black Sabbath covers band, missed opportunity!

Four non blondes, when they were still famous (showing my age) they were using the same pedestrian crossing as me, they are tiny, tiny ladies!

Whilst working at A different shop as manager we had signings for Nichele Nichols (Uhura Star Trek) and Amber Benson (Tara from Buffy) she was one of the nicest people I have ever met

And finally Quentin Tarantino, well thats actually stretching it a bit, he walked passed me in the town centre once (he is a patron for a film festival that used to run every year in Notts) I saw and heard him walking towards me and thought "wow he sounds just like QT", and then "He really looks like him to!" when he actually walked passed and it was him I was to dumbstruck to say anything! I read a few months later that Nottingham is his favourite UK city and he has friends here. Go figure!

*said in a verrrrry southern/redneck/ "Sons of the Confederacy" accent* "TEXAS IS ITS OWN NATION!!!!!!!!!!!"

LOL, we have our Texan pride down here, y'all.

UncleAndy, the way this thread works (or should work, lol!) is one person asks a question, which they place at the end of their post so that everybody sees it. Somebody (or mutiple "somebodies") will reply to the question, and then ask their own. If you get here "late" for a question (i.e., it's already been answered), feel free to answer it, as well as the other questions.

That'd be awesome if y'all wanted to come to the states! I plan on travelling to Missouri & possibly the far-Western tip of Tennessee this summer, so maybe we could get together there (those states would treat you more "tolerantly" than here in Texas--Texas would show you real Southern Hospitality, but there's very few people who would be able to hold a decent conversation with someone who, at least in this state, would be more liberal than themselves, lol!)

KK, famous people: I don't think I've ever met anyone famous, but my best friend's aunt was once on a plane that had *all* the Dallas Stars hockey team on it (this was about 4 years ago, maybe more, when Hockey was still played).

I dont want to start a war by saying this - though I probs will :( but when I went to Russia afew years ago - the feelings towards Americans are not very warm.

Russian strangers on the streets would come up to us (this being a group of small 14-16 year old kids by big burly Russians) thinking we were American and being quite rude. I shall not mention what they said or we will see some real ICBM's flying across the Pacific!!

This OF COURSE is not the view held by most Russians but there is obviously still some Cold War hostility left over!

Q. What is the current feeling in America - has it improved since the 70's??

inkspot
04-28-2005, 05:17 PM
I should have said -- it was 10 or 12 years ago I made my last visit to Russia, I made several between 1989-1993 or so. At that time, the Russian people were very, very sweet to me, and I fell quite in love with them.

If that has changed, I am sad to hear it. What I found in those heady days was that both the USA and USSR's "common people" had been taught to fear each other, then discovered we were almost exactly alike! It was such a revelation, you know?

Now, WHB, your question: what's the current feeling in the USA, regarding what? The Russians? I would say I still love them, can't speak for the rest of my country.

waterhogboy
04-28-2005, 05:21 PM
Well you see - I stayed with a family in Russia who loved America and all things America.

I dont think the situation is entirely to do with the Cold War. I think there is a world wide dislike of America but only amongst the violent bums in each country that are jealous of the USAs power and influence. Im not saying the world hates America, Im just saying that afew peeps are jealous.

This is the main reason for terrorism - not religion in my opinion.

I think you are right, WHB. America has had a good run, and some of us Americans have a tendency to think if we could do it, anyone could, so we don't seem to have a lot of sympathy toward others.

It would do all of us a lot of good to live and work abroad for a couple years after we get out of school, you know, be an oppressed minority for a while and develop empathy.

Well, that's a hard question because I don't "hang out" with just one person. There is a group of people at my church that I "hang out" with, but it's just that a group, it wouldn't be as much fun if there was only one of them (in reality I'm saying this because several if the people I am friends with are on this sight, and if I name one, the others will come after me...:))

It's time for a new question ...

Who's your favorite person to hang out with?
Probably the girl I went to Junior-Senior("Prom," more or less) with, though I don't get to hang out with her much, I covet the time we spend together (spoken like a true Romantic, but I must remember that I'm not in any sort of Romantic relationship with her.......).

Other than that, it'd have to be my computer-nerd homefries. We always have fun playin' Halo2 & BattleField together, lol!

Smog, what a pansy! Own up to it--tell us who you like the most out of the people you know (in real life) who are on here!

Well, personally I like Gandalf, although he can get mean when he's sobber.

After that would come Pippin, Aragorn (the real one), and Sam.

And then the "Master Chief", William Wallace and Donald Duck.

Are you happy now???

(Was that too cynical for you???)

Who's your favorite person to hang out with?

A guy from my school - he makes laugh til it hurts!!! I love people that make me laugh, but thats actually quite unusual cos Ive got such a dodgy sense of humour.

Hurray for your answer, WHB, I have SUCH a soft spot for anybody that can make me laugh. I swear it is the first thing that made me fall in love with my husband, because he keeps me laughing all the time.

You can expand this question to:
What PEOPLE do you like to hang out with, if you can't limit yourself to one.

Who's your favorite person to hang out with?
A friend of mine at school who has this very interesting sort of humor and who actually likes some of the weird things I like. We have different views on a lot of things, but we can always have very interesting conversations.

Next question: What's your dream job?

Dream job? Either a travel writer or a furniture restorer-I was speaking to one of my fave peeps to 'hang out with' about this on Sunday (i've known him since school and he's wicked!) 2 Q's answered in one! Woo-hoo.

Same Q.

I have my dream job, writing every day. It could be improved if I could make a lavish living doing my own creative writing instead of stock assignments for other people (and even that could be improved if I could make a lavish living doing it).

Smog, to dream of being a pastor is very good and noble.

Well Ive sorta already answered Inkspots question but to extrapolate (woo big word!!), I love people who make me laugh (ok so not much extrapolation). One odd thing tho is that my best friend is actually someone youd never expect. He's an avid athiest and loves debating (which is my least favourtie hobby!!) but somehow we get on like a house on fire!?!?! Who knows!!!

Other question... dream job is languages - je les adore!!!!!! Anything that means I can speak lotsa langs!!!!

What does apostatise mean???

inkspot
05-03-2005, 07:32 PM
Apatosaur is a dinosaur like a Brontosaurus.

Apostasy is a state of rejecting/forgetting the faith. It means, I think, a "falling away" from the faith.

Apostasize? Must be a verb of the same kind.

If a friend rejected Christ, it wouldn't be something they did to you, personally. It would be sad for them, of course, but if it should happen, don't take it as a personal slight and get mad at them -- you might never have the opportunity to pull them back toward faith in Christ if you get mad at them and reject them.

I think the worst thing a friend could do to me at this point would be to bootlegmy creation and post it on the web without my permission. Heh -- just kidding cuz of the debate going on the other thread, bootlegs.

The worst a friend could do to me is betray me. I think trust is very important!

Trust is indeed important..I think my friends would have to do something pretty terrible to drive me away, one of then has already put me i hospital, so if i can forgive that then i can forgive anything.!! (It sounds awful, but it wasn't that bad, well..)
I'm pretty forgiving really (or a walkover some might say), so it would have to be a crime of the greatest magnitude- maybe some heavy betraying, with perhaps a side order of murder?!

Lunis
05-04-2005, 05:27 PM
I'm thinking maybe the worst thing a friend could do is tell me I'm a horrible friend, after I try so hard to be trustworthy, honest, etc. (Maybe it'd be the "honest" part that would make them say that; I say it like it is when I have to [in love ofcourse], and sometimes people don't want to hear the truth). Aha! that's the worst thing a friend could do to me. Pretend there's nothing wrong when there is, refuse to let me talk to them or pray with them about it, etc.

Would you forgive a friend who did the worst to you?
Explain your answer ...

rosymole
05-04-2005, 07:12 PM
I would, not because I'm a bit of a pushover - I would like to think that I can when needs be stick to my guns, but I think that you chose the people with whom you want to be friends, and that entails a great deal- sharing your life with them, good times, bad times, relying on each other following each toher on the various paths you take, and if someone is willing to go with you on that journey then you should be able find it within yourself to forgive them whatever they've done, afterall I would most probably expect them to forgive me (but I suppose it would depend on the 'crime).
Even at my *great age* (a massive 24!) I've done things which could have ruined my greatest friendships and have been forgiven, and in my turn I have forgiven those who did things which hurt me.

faeriechylde
05-04-2005, 07:22 PM
Well, I would, of course. I'm not saying it would be easy, or that I'm just naturally a forgiving person. It's just that I am a Christian, and Christ taught us to forgive others as He forgave us. I think it would be blatant hypocrisy to say I believe in Christ but choose not to forgive my friends, no matter what they had done to me.

Ideal job: Writing, or some other sort of job where I would use language like crazy (WHB, I think the phrase you used was French, and that it roguhly means, "I adore them." Am I right?!?!??!?!).

Kind of person to hang out with: Like Luni, I value honesty in love--"speak the truth in love." Those last 2 words are key, though (i.e., don't tell someone they did a horrible job, tell them where they could improve--"constructive criticism").

Forgiveness: As the day is long, for I am nowhere near perfect, and need as much mercy as God & others can grant me!

Q: How old were you when you (1) got your license and (2) got your first car?

faeriechylde
05-04-2005, 08:03 PM
I got my license when I was 18, because I was living in Brazil until then, where people can't get their licenses until they're 18 anyway. I drove one of my dad's cars around for a while, then my grandparents gave me a car (well, I paid a very small amount for it, so they'll say they "sold" it to me) a few months later. I think that was January of last year, so I would have been almost 19 (I'm 20 now). It may have been December of the year before... all I know is that it was snowing out and I almost lost control of the car. But I still have it, and its name is Mario (it's an '88 Ford Tempo).
Ok, for the next person, same questions: How old were you when you got your license and when you got your first car?

Well, the problem is that it has already happened to me by one of my best friends, and unless they accept Christ the friendship is gone.

However, I'm with Aragorn, because God has forgiven me, I must forgive others.

Well, when I get my first car I'll tell you :D

P.S. Oh, and I just echo Faerie's opinion on the forgiveness thing. Christ forgives and "forgets" so I should too. People need second chances, third chances, and so on and so forth.

New question!

If you could choose any book, story, play, etc. to be made into a movie -- and provided it was well-made and did the story justice -- what would it be? (Narnia doesn't count ;-) )

Lunis
05-05-2005, 12:41 AM
That's a tough one because I can think of many. Maybe some of Lloyd Alexander's books, but I definitely think that certain stories in the Bible could make awesome movies. I admit, I spend hours dreaming up the possibilities sometimes. ;) (*Luni

I always get such a dose of 'the fear' when they make books into films, that I have trouble thinking about it! 'Captain Corelli's Mandolin' was a disaster! Carl Hiassen books could be amusing- simple but very funny dialogue, and some action too- lots of bad language tho *g*
