Upcoming phone interview transcipt by yours truely will be posted here shortly.

And also at the website... ;)

EDIT: Yes I will also be providing a transcript for Sofia and Chloe's site which will be found under interviews. And if possible, I'll try to get the audio up as well (but I have no idea how).

As far as we know Skandar is currently ONLY focusing on Prince Caspian at the moment and is doing NO other films.

A phone interview? Oh my goodness! I can't wait for that!
It would be cool if there could be a contest on Chloe and Sofia's site where people (presumably Skandarnites) could put questions they want Skandar to be asked and the winners' questions would be asked. But I dunno.
Yay! I can't wait for the phone interview! Does anybody know if Skandar will be on any upcoming TV things (such as MTV or something)?

Alright the interview is over and done (you lot and your random questions! Honestly!) and I just need to type the transcript up.

It would appear Skandar is NOT coming to Memphis, but he might be doing a satillete thingy, he doesn't know. His response when I asked was Am I?

Keep your eyes peeled for the transcript!

Right guys, I expect complete and utter adoration from you now. Here is the transcript for my telephone interview with Skandar Keynes. (you can also access it via the main page of this site here (http://www.narniafans.com/?id=813))

1.What is the significance of the necklace you always wear?
Oh that! Tilda Swinton gave me that in New Zealand and it’s a greenstone and it’s got like engravings on it which means strength and overcoming life’s difficulties and challenges. Oh and you can’t buy yourself one, you have to get someone else to get you one so Tilda gave it to me.

2.What’s your favourite band?
Urm Queen, Outkast, lots of soundtracks, I really love soundtracks oh and Red Hot Chilli Peppers

3.What’s your favourite colour?
Favourite colour? Urm sometimes blue, yeah sometimes blue, yeah mainly blue!

4.Why were you wearing that purple glove at the Tokyo press conference?
Ah! That glove. (dratted inaudiable bit here – something about chums is all I got). Yeah that conference was the most nerve racking thing I’ve ever done. IF you stand in front of 7,000 people it’s not as bad as that one because there were so many people flashing their cameras and I was like Ahh crap! So yeah….

5.Have you ever met a fangirl and had a personal conversation with her?
Well urm yeh. The last time I spoke to some was like these 3 girls around London. They come and talk to me and I’m always like Ahh and they come over to me and they’re like really cool. And urm yeah they come to my house a lot which is sometimes very odd but yeh, I have conversations with them.

6.Would you like to be an only child or do you prefer to have siblings like you did in Narnia and have in real life?
I prefer siblings….sister..and when you’re like adults and there’s like someone to have other than just being by yourself. And it was quite cool on the set to have like everyone there.

7.When did you get your braces on? And what colours do you usually wear?
Urm well I got my braces on about a year ago on Wednesday and I may be getting them off on Wednesday. I can’t wait. At first I tried colours and then I just didn’t because they attract more attention to your braces. Grey is cool.

8.What did you have written on your hand at the Empire Awards on last Monday?
Urm, hang on I think I’ve still got it on my hand. Urm they’re notes, saying I have Mufti Day and doodling. I’ve actually got my name graffitied on my arm!

9.How many pairs of Converse do you own?
I had the originals, they were my black ones and then they got too old so I spray painted them blue. So I bought another pair and then I’ve got the red pair and then I’ve got these Converse trainers which are kinda like fake Converse and at the moment they’re replacing my normal games kit cos I lost my actual trainers. I always wear the red like never! I’ve worn them twice.

10.What kind of soap do you use?
Soap? I’m just going to have a look. Body shop, my sisters telling me! That’s the bar of soap you find on my sink. I use soap but I’m not like expert on soap. Sorry

11.What’s your favourite type of cheese?
Oo cheese! It’s cool. I like blue cheese, Brie, urm I like cheddar, stilton, yeah Stilton’s good. Oh and with everyone’s name after it you say cheese. So it’s like Nick Cheese and Gordan Cheese and everyone…

12.Do you think Blue M&Ms taste better than the others?
I’m really big on Smarties and Orange smarties they taste the best.

13.When you start shaving, will you use an electric razor or a regular one?
Urm, I actually tried shaving once and used just like a normal razor blade and cut off half my lip and damaged all my skin and it hurt for like 5 days because I didn’t use shaving cream or anything. Won’t be trying that again but I don’t know. Will uses an electric razor, he was like showing off with it in the make-up tent.

14.Boxers or Briefs?
Urm Boxers.

15.What do you think about at 1.20am?
If I’m at a sleepover, I’m probably calculating how much sleep I’m going to have or just thinking things generally, boring things.

16.Do you have any pets?
Yes, I have two cats, kittens, they’re like a year old and ones called Puss and one’s called Boots.

17.What shampoo do you use?
Oh I don’t know what it’s called. It’s like this yellow orangey one. And it’s just there, in the cupboard. Oh here we go, Citrus Shine.

18.Do you use Lynx or anything like that? (actual question, what do you smell like……..)
I did have a bottle but it’s so bad because all of my friends come round and start spraying it all in my room and then I get a lecture and yeah so it always get used up but yeah I have a Lynx thingy.

19.Do you have a middle name?
Yes, can’t remember which way it goes round. Ok it’s Skandar Amin Casper Keynes.

20.Does Anna have Myspace?
Urm I don’t know. I used to have one but I couldn’t get people to leave me alone so I stopped.

21.How do you deal with all the crazy fan girls you have? (from Thomas)
Some else does it not me. Sometimes they come to London and try and see me and my friends are like no it’s not him and sometimes they are like yeah it is him! And shouting.

22.Oh and the inevitable, do you have girlfriend/what’s you love life like?
Urm at this moment and like recently, non existent. But things could change you know but I just like ended something

23.Why do you hate hugs?
I don’t hate hugs! It’s because Will, when he hugs you, tries to suffocate you. He starts squeezing so hard and it’s like OMG. And Anna, she’s like dead patronising, it’s like urgh. And then Georgie is like ah give me a hug. And it’s like OK! And with Andrew all of his long hair sort of gets in the way

24.Is it true you sleep with a teddy bear?
No! I don’t have any sort of stuff animals in my room. I have some cool stuff but not animals.

25.What’s your favourite TV show?
Family Guy. Yeah it’s amazing. I have all the series on DVD and they’re making a fourth. Yeah Family Guy and Scrubs. Me and my friends are always quoting Scrubs!
26.Where would be your ideal place to live? Some really cool place in the Pacific Ocean or the South of France or Spain. Somewhere hot and by a beach. The thing about England is it’s always rainy and cold.

27.Who is your celebrity crush?
Urm, Jessica Alba is pretty cool. I dunno. I don’t obsess about celebrities like some of my friends do.

28.Do you have a religion and if so what is it?
I am an Athiest. I know the films really Christian and everything but it doesn’t really affect me. Oh and you know I’m related to Charles Darwin.

29.What’s your favourite meal?
Nandos! Nandos is like amazing. And Chinese. And then you’ve got pizza! Urm I’m a fan of Indian food but not like an amazingly big fan. Oh and last one fish and chips.

30.Can you give us some prank ideas?
Attacking people from behind when they’re not expecting it! Everytime I go to a friends house and if they haven’t realised I was coming, I walk up behind them and it’s all silent and then they will actually jump a mile. Really. They freak out.
Oh and have as much fun as you can in Art with paint. That’s my bit of advice. Just don’t go spreading it on other people’s work. That never really works out too well. It’s fun to chuck it on each other.

31.How tall are you?
I am 5”5 ½, 5”6!

32.Have you worn this T-shirt? everything that she said really in blue
Oh T-shirt woman! What does it mean?! It has something written on it but it’s really confusing I have no idea what it’s on about. Yeah I’ve got and I’ve worn cos you need a white t-shirt.

33. Have you ever been to Finland?
URm no. Sorry. I’ve never been to Finland.

34. Are you going to Memphis next week?
Am I? I should probably check that. I may be now! Don’t think so but it may be a satellite one.

That interview was very interesting, though I have to wonder at some of the questions... I mean, what kind of soap and shampoo he uses, for goodness sake? And do we really need to know whether he wears boxers or briefs? OK, we have fangirls here so maybe they do, but like the rest of us care. As far as his faith goes, remember that C.S. Lewis was an atheist for awhile, but look what happened to him. Atheism is not a faith that can survive close examination, I know because I've had several people try unsuccessfully to convert me to it.

As far as my impressions of Skandar as Edmund, I think that he was completely convincing in a rather complex role. Edmund has to be kind of an outsider among the family group, and kind of difficult, but he has to be sympathetic, too: he can't seem like the type who's beyond redemption. Skandar was kind of like that in real life, too. You get the sense from others' statements about him that he had some issues, but was a good kid overall. It will be interesting to see how he handles Edmund's role in "Prince Caspian"... it'll be harder to make the character interesting.

The thing that surprised me the most was that he actually sounded like a fourteen year old brat! (not to be taken the wrong way) You know how these child actors always act soooo mature beyond their years?(*cough* *cough* dakota fanning) His attitude seem to be "I'm fourteen this is how us fourteen yearolds act"
I thought that was awsome

~Rogue~
03-26-2006, 07:22 AM
If you compare the reactions between fan girls meeting boys/men they like and women that they like, the reactions are completely different. Most fangirls suffer from delusion and especially at concert can succumb to extreme hysteria around their idol. Skandar proves these sort of reactions simply because he is male. For example, reactions from girls to Anna Popplewell are likely to be more calm because they are less likely to be thinking along the lines of wanting to date her, believing they have a chance with her.

Girls freak out because they have created an idol out of him in their minds.

cud u arrange a video interview like u cud video him talkin and he cud like say hi 2 all the skandar fans and stuff.

Haha I'll have to pinch a camecorder from someone but that'll be next on my agenda.

In response to onlymystory and her posts, I think you guys need to read the fanclub plans and I am well aware that you are feeling impatient and frustrated at the moment, but if the plans go through, it should be more like the old days.

And then you can talk about Skandar in your fannish ways. I'm glad you liked the interview and it sparked a very interesting discussion about religion, but please don't post things about "what I would do if I met Skandar" etc.

Okay well first of all, thank you Rogue for this lovely and -at some point- weird interview :)
Well i can't say that him being an atheist didn't surprise me, but that's his choice and if he's happy with it then i don't think there's something wrong with that. But what really irritated me about his answer was that he was like "Okay well i'm an related to Charles Darwin, so yeah i'm an atheist".Well -in my opinion- being an atheist is not something genetic, i mean it's not something that you just choose just because someone who's related to you choose that way.I think it's personal and it's your way of seeing things, your point of view..And please don't get me wrong, i'm not against him or anything and God knows how i love this kid :p But really, that answer just bothered me a bit.But maybe that's because he's a 14 year old boy now, he just didn't pay much attention or didn't think really about his answer that long..
Okay sorry if that bored you to death and sorry if this was a spam..But i wanted to state my opinion about this..

~Rogue~
03-29-2006, 04:42 PM
Yes of course you can post a link. Glad to know it's appreciated.

And I have happy news. In honour of the DVD's release, the fanclub section should be re-opening within the next weeks so we can all talk about it. And Skandar and the others.

I'll keep you guys as updated as I can.

In answer to both your enquiries, I don't know how many languages he knows but just because someone can name the cheeses they like doesn't mean they know French!

And Nando's is a restaurant chain in England that specialises in chicken (yum yum).

I don't think his answer was a spur of the moment thing but due to your curious ways, Chloe and I shall delve further into the mystery.

I would just post the link. But that's me. By the way, how do you pronounce his full name?

I haven't seen Nanny McPhee but I would probably prefer him in Narnia because it's more grown up, if you see what I mean, not so much of a kid's film.
Actors always have to go through loads of auditions and not get the part! I'm glad he got the part of Edmund though :)
so am I. Out of all the actors in Narnia, Skander brought the Edmund in my imagination to life. When I saw the film I was like "thats Lewis' Edmund"

Yeah, I loved the way he did the whole sulky and spiteful thing at the start and then realised what he'd done half-way through and showed his good side. I also thought it was pretty good when he got stabbed. Most people in films just making stupid shocked faces and fall over, he did it much better.

It's too bad that Skandar will have to look like a child of the '40's in PC... I kind of like him better with the longer hair. But boys didn't have long hair back then. At least it's not set in the 50's, when those horrible USMC buzzcuts were in fashion.

Oddish
04-25-2006, 06:05 AM
I expect that both Will and Skandar will have hair similar to their LWW styles for "Prince Caspian". Long-haired boys were not common back then. Oddly enough, in the late 1800's, boys wore really long hair until they were 4 or so, and lots of Wild West types had long hair as well, but in the 1940's, short was king.

Maybe Anna'll get to keep her hair long as well... she wasn't happy about getting it cut for LWW. And Georgie's grown hers, too. I wish all four kids could have long hair in PC, but maybe both girls will anyway... of course, Georgie's very cute with her little bob, too.

An aside: my opinion on hairstyle is that, for young kids, they should look the gender they are. A kid I knew had head lice, so her parents chopped her hair short, but sent her to school in jeans and gray or white T-shirts. I thought she was a boy, and I know I wasn't the only one... I wonder what it was like for her, going into a girls' bathroom? I mean, if you're going to give your daughter a butch, for goodness' sake put her in dresses or pink stuff.

All right, back to the subject at hand... I think that Skandar's kind of a rogue, and having cool hair better suits his personality.

Just so all of you know when you try to look for your posts on here I deleted a bunch. It seems incredibly difficult to understand this but this thread is about Skandar's acting. It is ok if there is not a post in here for several weeks. Any random conversation about Skandar belongs in the Skandarnite thread. This one is for more intense discussion of his acting or links to some of his interviews. That's it. Just because you say Skandar likes math does not make it a good post in here. Please read the first post on this thread before replying.

Well, Kate, I don't know what you mean by "How many have seen the movie?" but I haven't seen it. I've just heard about it. But I'd like to see it, just to see how cute Skandar was as a kid.

I adore Skandar's acting and I can't wait for Prince Caspian because by then, his character, Edmund, will have changed to be more faithful to Aslan and not so dark, so I think it'll be good to see Skandar be more believing as Edmund.
In PC, Edmund was the first to believe Lucy when she said she saw Aslan which is a huge difference from LWW and it's really great. Whereas, Susan goes the opposite direction and becomes more self-centered. So, it'll be interesting to see them change their character in their roles, especially Skandar being soft-hearted. He'll be doing some more sword fighting as well.

Danny Darnia

Eventhough I love Peter Pevensie (a.k.a William Moseley....) but I think Skandar's act in LWW much better than Will's.

Why exactly is it necessary to dislike one and like the other? Isn't it possible to like Will and Skandar both, each for his unique gifts and talents? Or is it a binary thing, either you like Will or you like Skandar? Or do I really want to know the answer to that question?

One nice thing about the Companion book is that it provides a (well-sanitized) description of how each child got on with each other. With Skandar, you got the sense that he was the black sheep, the one who maybe wasn't quite as close to the others as they were to each other. But that was to be expected, as he was cast last, and he was also off on his own for much of the shoot. And he's kind of at the awkward age between that of his co-stars, so he's kind of the obstreperous older brother to Georgie and the annoying younger brother to Will. However, both Will and Georgie really loved his sense of humor.

Yeah, the Companion did a great job of showing us the role of each of the 4 young actors on the set.

William and Skander were exploring the set kinda thing then they came into a room and found all these foam thingies so they dived in and were ripping them all apart crazily, then William noticed Georgie had followed them in and William stopped and grabbed a foam thing but Skander was madly tearing them apart crazily so William was trying to get him to stop being mental!
Then Georgie kicked the foam thing right in the midle with her super karate moves! LOL! Then I guess they all went crazy again - Skander and Georgie means DOUBLE CRAZY!!!!

Anna mabe was too mature to be playing! LOL!

That's so hilarious! Where'd you hear about that, Kate?
Skandar is so wild and everyone agrees that he got into all sorts of mischief on set. lol
Like when he was sneaking those Cokes out of the truck! :D

05-10-2006, 12:59 AM
It sounded more like both of them were going nuts on the styrofoam, but Will noticed Georgie and wanted to make sure she got to have a go at it as well.
Aww, William is so sweet to little Georgie, always making sure she's included in the fun. :D

Guys, don't forget about Skandar's sugar problem! He and Graham were sneaking those Cokes out of this truck, even though they weren't supposed to. And for the Turkish Delight, they talked to his mum about how much sugar he should he have! LOL :p Though my favorite Skandar hyper moment was when he (and William in his Narnia battle clothes) were sucking the helium out of the balloons and Skandar said, "I love helium!"

Oh, this is important. Kate, you have good hearing, but I couldn't understand what they were saying on the commentary when they were teasing Skandar and saying something like, "You blame your mum or you're a ranger man"
It was something like that. It was during the scene where they get to the Beavers' house. Maybe it was their accents I couldn't understand, I don't know.

Don't know what that was - it was kind of sad though!!!!

My class thinks Skandar is a weird name!

Skandar's name is unusual. He's the only Skandar I've heard of. lol
He played a good bossy brother in the beginning of the movie. "I was just playing along..." And that evil smile on his face.
The one thing that annoyed my friend the most about Skandar in the movie was the scab he had on his lip. In the movie theater, she was tempted to go pick it off. She wants to create this picture on her MySpace account that would have a picture of Skandar as Edmund and words saying Moley! Moley! with a big stick pointing to his scab! LOL :D

But Kate, why did you correct me on the commentary if you never listened to it? I'm confused.

Does anyone know Skandar's ethnicity? His name is throwing me off. Could it be that he's Celtic? I've never seen that name Skandar before knowing of him. I know that Keynes is one of those interesting truly English names, but what about Skandar? And also one of his middle names is Amin. What's that about?

He is adorable! I started to become a fan after seeing the behind the scenes footage on the DVD. Then I started to like him even more after the commentary. I LOVE his personality...he's funny, cute, sweet...how could you not love him? I mean seriously, look at him...

Yeah! Me too... I think in Narnia he was little bit too child-like, but he has born same year than me, so when i watched childrens journey, I was so amazed how funny and cute he was! Yeah, that's when i started to like him. And commentary... well, Will was nice there ( and i STILL prefer will to skandar) but skandar was GREAT and so FUNNY! I really like him nowadays... and i can't wait what he will look like in Prince Caspian! :p

I think Skandar is a really good actor and perfect for Edmund. He is really good at expressing his emotions in his face and I think that's one of the reasons why he is so good. I also always thought of Edmund as dark, not blond. Can't wait to see how he does in Prince Caspian!

Skandar did a good job, but there are some scenes where he could have showed more emotion and more connection to his character. I am NOT DISSING SKANDAR, don't worry Skandarnites. He's a good actor, and hey, this was his first film. He was a really great Edmund, but maybe the reason I am so critical is because I am still marveling over William's performance. Skandar seems like a great guy and I can't wait to see him in Prince Caspian.

huh? sorry, didn't catch that, willaimmoseleylover#1...
anyways: skandar info:

He grew six-and-a-half inches while filming The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005). He had to get his armor fixed weekly.

Can ride a horse.

Plays the cornet and flute.

Attended Anna Scher Theatre School, 2000-2005.

Studies tae kwon do. (me too!!! :D )

The name Skandar is of Turkish origin meaning Alexander; oddly enough his character Edmund Pevensie in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005) is obsessed with a delicacy called Turkish Delight.

He unsuccessfully auditioned for the role of Simon in Nanny McPhee (2005), losing to Thomas Sangster. (Well I'm glad, or else he might not have been able to be Edmund!)

Is the great-great-great grandson of naturalist Charles Darwin, and son of author Randal Keynes.

He has an elder sister named Soumaya. (She voiced his part in part of LWW)

He is the son of 'Zelfa Cecil Hourani' (who is of Lebanese descent) and Randal Keynes.

He attends the City of London School, a private all-boys school.

Attends the same school as actors Daniel Radcliffe and Harry Michell. As of September 2005 to July 2006, both he and Harry are in Year Nine with Dan in Year Twelve. (--that's soo cool! he goes to school w/ dan radcliffe! )

Was banned from eating sugar products on set during the filming of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005) due to hyperactive tendencies. (--lol-- :D )

Plays cricket.

Loves playing video games.

Personal quotes
"When it's all over I won't miss the bruises he gave me to impress girls, or the occasional scar which will give me a story to tell my grandchildren, but I'll definitely miss the pranks and the laughing and all the making fun of each other. I'll miss the funky advice he gives me about everything -- football, girls, video games, clothes. Most of all, I'll miss having an older brother." (on costar, William Moseley) (oh, how sweeet)

"For safety reasons during the rehearsal we had to use a rubber ball, which has a really strange bounce that made it hard to hit. Then when we were finally using the real ball for the scene, Will bowled it wide of me every single time so I couldn't hit it. I was furious. Then Andrew started to doubt that I could actually play cricket, and he asked me to pretend to hit the ball for the rest of the rehearsals. On the next ball, I hit it as hard as I could. It smashed into some of our lighting, and the crew yelled, "Skan-DAR!'" (on the cricket scene)

"He's magical. He's great with children. Amazingly fun and cool and funny. Lots of hair too." (about director Andrew Adamson)

"When I first met Georgie, she was very eager to talk. Georgie is great. She's small and hilarious. To laugh at. I mean with - to laugh with." (on costar Georgie Henley) (aw...:))
"I can counter everyone but Andrew. One day, because he's always taking the mick out of me, I'm going to have the best comeback ever. I'm going to call him up thirty years from now and say, 'Hey, Andrew, remember when you said this? Well...'"

"Well, let's see. Edmund is the black sheep of the family, the outcast. He's always trying to get up to the level of the older two by putting down Lucy. He's very immature and full of resentment." - on his character, Edmund Pevensie, in the Chronicles of Narnia

I know that the birthday project for Skandar is coming up soon and I heard that we have until the end of August. But does anyone know the address I send his present to? Cuz I have no clue.
His b-day is september 5th and you can send it to his official fan address Skandar Keynes

I would suggest u send it about 2 weeks early cause it'll get there like a day or two before his b-day, that way, u'll have a better chance of a reply

Anyone know if Skandar and William have been getting more sword and horse training while in the UK.
uhh. . . they probably have, considering Prince Caspian is practically all battles and fighting... just wondering, could you people answer this question?(sorry, I am a bit slow sometimes...:) ) what is that "Check the Gate" thing all about?

<Turkish Delight>
07-14-2006, 08:29 PM
"Check the Gate" is a song Skandar and the other cast member wrote about a term that is used by the director to see if the scene they has just finished filming turned out good in the camera and that`s how the song was born. Will,Anna,Skandar, and Georgie all sing it in the Narnia bloopers and the in the bonus material on the 2nd DVD in the collecters edition. :) HOpe this explains it all!!

Whats to explain ! he was on holiday with his family and got trapped in Beirut when the city was being shelled. Stupdily his mother and grandfather didnt want to be evacuated by ship - madness and decided to get out under cover of night by car via a long drive to Amman. How dangerous was that.

Posted on Skandar's IMDB forum:-

I exchanged messages with the girl who worked with Skandar. She was really nice and friendly. She worked on a play with Skandar but Skandar didnt push himself forward he worked behind the scenes on the techncial side and did a good job on lighting the play. She said he was crazy and funny and just like you'd expect a tennage boy to be like. She didnt have any thing bad to say about him. Infact she said he was very down to earth and got the job done. Isnt that nice. He obviously looked rather nice too.

I dug around online to see what the play could have been at his school and it was Salman Rushdie's play Haroun and the Sea of Stories which they performed from 27 - 29 June.

Yeah, the bombing in Beriut must of been really scary. I was watching the news the other day, and it showed people coming to the U.S. that were stuck in the bombing down in Lebanon and they were being interviewed. They were crying and everything, they were so scared. It was just sooo sad to watch it when I knew that Skandar was down there.

Anyway, welcome to the forum! (I love your avvy!)

The Skandarnite thread is sometimes easy to miss. If you enter the forum "Cast and Crew Discussions" and right above where the normal thread are, you will see a section that says "Fan Club Section" or something like that name. You click it, and since there are only like 5 threads in there, you should see the Skandarnite thread.

To become a Skandarnite:
you go to User CP>Group Memberships>Join Skandarnites

you fill in the reason why you want to be one, and because it has to go through ~Rogue~ you will have to wait a while (Or at least I did) before you are accepted. (She has to process them, I think.)
(If you ever need help on anything, feel free to PM me!) :)

Yeah, and just so I'm not spamming, I think Skandar will do a lovely job in Prince Caspian!

If you watch the commentary from the kids, you'll see that the reason that it was so convincing was because she actually hurt him when she did the stabbing part. He said it actually did hurt. She didn't stab him as it looks like it's meant to, but she hit his gut with that thing and it hurt. Tilda didn't mess around with what she was doing...but at least she didn't hurt Skandar the way she hurt Will. His injury fighting with her was slightly worse.

Do you think that's right? To hurt someone on purpose, even for a movie?

Into the Wardrobe
03-27-2007, 06:06 PM
Well, I don't know that she did it on purpose per se...I think that Tilda is a serious actress and when they call 'action' and she's supposed to 'stab' him, she does the action, and it ended up being too real. She didn't stab that thing into him, but he does comment that it really hurt and he wasn't really acting much. She just got into her character a bit much.

I don't think it's right to hurt someone on purpose even for a movie. They were filming a battle and the boys knew that they might get banged up a little here and there. They took there battle wounds in stride. It's all good now for them. We'll see what happens in the PC battle.

Oh, I thought Andrew poked him for some reason. Probably wasn't listening to the comentary properly. But it's still good acting. I mean, if I was poked with a stick thing, I'd probably shout 'OUCH!' really loud, and then poke her back. Good that he stayed in character.

And what happened to Will?

Into the Wardrobe
03-31-2007, 11:33 PM
Well, there's the thought that if he didn't act well he'd have to have that happen again. There's these things called multiple takes.

When Will was tripped up and Tilda put the sword in the ground pinning his arm, she didn't miss. She really got his arm with the sword.

She said that she didn't want to hurt them and never intended to. It was accidental, but Will talked about it on the commentary and how much it hurt. Andrew talked about it being good cinamatography inspite of the pain...at least it looked real.

His name is Turkish in background, it's a form of Alexander. He's part Turkish, Lebonese, British...and a few other things I think.

It was interesting to see him in the trailer. I'm betting they put lifts in William's shoes so that he'd be taller than Skandar. Skandar was just an inch shorter than Will when he showed up for PC from what I read. Will still looked taller in the trailer. I can't wait to see the whole film and see how he's matured as an actor as well.

The Narnia series will go on well into Skandar's 20's. If he wants to do other stuff, he will need to do it in between the Narnia films for a good bit. It will be easier for him once he's done with school unless he goes to the university. I hope he does go to the university, but that's just me. We'll have to see how he does in PC and VDT I think before thinking of him doing bigger roles. He did well with LWW, but still, I want to see how he's grown up in maturity with all the behind the scenes stuff. They are planning on having him do HHB and LB if he's game for it when they come around.

I think Edmunds character in PC was far better than that in LWW. Whereas Peter was well....a jerk up to the his duel with Miraz, Edmund was really an outstanding example of quiet support and strength. He acted much more mature than Peter or Susan because he didn't complain, or argue, or make any of the other mistakes the older kids did.

Yeah.....I was really impressed by how quiet he was in the movie. He never questioned Peter's authority, but he has his own way of telling Peter when he's of track. "I know, you had it sorted." And he has more resolved than Peter. I think it was so amazing the way he got rid of the white witch in PC. It was really profound that he actually stabbed her in the back.

^the trailer made it seem as if it was Susan who threw something at the ice and then it broke. But when I saw that It was done from behind and that it was Skandar after all the ice had been brought down I was like, "Oh. Nice!"

I'm not a crazed fan girl either, I'm way to old for that regarding Skandar anyway, but I will say I was greatly impressed with him. He's kind, attentive, fun, and just really nice. He's energetic and just great to be around. I loved meeting him at the premiere and wished I could hang out with him and Georgie more. They're both so much fun to be around.

I liked the way the script handled Ed as well and thought he did well with the growth in the character coming across onscreen. Well done Skandar!

I adore Skandar. After seeing Prince Caspian, I know he's the only one who can play Edmund..no one else can.

And Edmund being my favorite character, I was worried with who they were going to chose. But, Skandar has done a wonderful job. I can't wait to see The Voyage of the Dawn Treader because of him.

Yes, it actually is a true fact. There have been numerous articles concerning the matter and he has spoken out about it in a number of interviews. He is a proclaimed athiest and is very proud of his grandfather's achievements in the research of evolution. I often pray for Skandar in hopes he will one day find Christ.

Skandar did a great job in PC...and I can't wait to see him in VDT. I'm sure he will do well. I hope that Edmund will be portrayed accuratly provided the script writers do well in sticking to the book. He was done well this time and Skandar does him justice, but I don't want to see anything happen to Ed like it did to Peter in PC. Yikes, that would be horrid.

i knew skandar was athiest and i knew he liked darwin but i didn't know he was related....i don't mean to sound all..."high and mighty" but i do pray for him. from what i understand, and correct me if i'm wrong, but christianity is dying in England anyway...from what i understand. i hear the church there is just failing..so i pray for england as a whole. well eitherway..it doesn't make me love skandar any less..he seems like such a great person to have in this world. ^_^

Peter's character development was great, and that's all I'll say on the matter. Kudos to the writers for a job well done on bring Peter's faith back with our always-faithful Lucy.

Skandar did an absolutely wonderful job in PC. I have a friend who was always more of a Peter fan, and then after the movie she said to me, "Yeah, I get why you like Edmund so much now."

ALL AROUND AWESOME CHARACTER, END OF STORY.

I'll clarify with the other mods. But back when LWW was in theaters the discussion of Skandar being an atheist came up. (By the way, I believe he considers himself an agnostic actually). Anyway, since it was his personal life we felt it was better to keep that discussion out of this thread since it is about his acting. The biggest thing is there can't be 270 different threads about each actor. I know conversations go off topic a lot but that's just something that has to be dealt with. I'll remind the other mods though. It's been 2 1/2 years so we do have a few who weren't here for the first nite go round.

I watched the movie again this week and paid attention to all of his lines. Very well acted indeed! One line I loved in the film was his "I'm not holding your hand!" The line seemed so perfect for Skandar! It reminded me of his ad-lib in LWW, "I know how to get on a train by myself!"

He can still be sarcastic and a bit bratty, he just saves it for those who are more deserving, like Eustace in Dawn Treader - "You won't have to look at it if you step outside." :p

I didn't expect to get to do that at the party, but it wasn't hard to have one on one time with most of the cast members for a short bit. I wouldn't worry about fainting. He's just a regular person like you are. I think it's actually easier in person because then they're just there in the flesh and not on a big screen in a costume. It's just the person. He's a normal teenager. A very nice young gentleman.

Sorry it's so bright in the first bit of it, but all Kristi had was her digital camera as opposed to a regular video camera. It's still fun. We were just shooting the breeze on the red carpet. Skandar is about as laid back as one can be, yet professional.

Into the Wardrobe
08-15-2008, 05:09 PM
Better than it looked. The premiere itself was interesting. It's just strange sitting there watching a film with the cast sitting behind you. About 2/3 of the way through I had to go to the bathroom but wasn't going to walk out of the theater in front of them for any reason....I survived. I talked to Skandar and Tilda at the theater inside a bit and Georgie some. It was much easier to talk to people at the afterparty. That was more fun in getting to know people.

I thought that the cast would be swarmed more than they were. At times loads of people wanted their attention and at times they were on their own just standing around. I had the chance to talk to Skandar and Georgie more than the others. Peter Dinklage was also easy to talk to. He's so much fun! I wish I could do something like that again. After the party one can't help but think of what they wished they'd have said or asked. There are several things I'd have done differently if given the chance to relive it. Wearing 5 or 6 inch shoes would be one of them...and I'd have made sure to have gotten a nap earlier in the day rather than staying up 48 hours in advance. Ah well, live and learn.

Don't be so sure of everything you hear and read Nat. Also, there are good ways of going about things and not helpful ones. Posting that probably wasn't helpful. Skandar had said at one point that he was an athiest. No one on here knows if that still holds true. He may be an agnostic person based on commentary from the premiere. Most athiests I know don't say "God bless you" when you're leaving their presence...but there it is.

Well, at least he had more fighting then he did in the first.
But he didn't have enough lines, or a part in the film compared to the others!!

Which is why I think it will be the best one yet! I can't wait!!!

All of the actors are great, that's why they're on the big screen. But, I like the characters Edmund and Lucy better, so it's easier for me to say that their actors are better. But nonetheless, PC was awesome, and so was Skandar:D

*GASP* Good luck!! I really love that character :D

Anyway, I hope they pay more attention to Ed in VDT...I know he doesn't do much in the book of PC anyway, so it was to be expected that he was kind of in the background...but since VDT is his last appearance until HHB (an appearance which is minimal in the first place), I hope they do more w/ his character. Because Skandar is worth the attention, in more ways than one. LOL

I asked Georgie about it at the premiere and she said that Skandar tried to get the song up again but the rest felt it was time to move on from it. I was sad. I know, everyone loves Check the Gate. Ah well, there it is.

It would be fun to pick it up again in VDT, but I'm doubting it will happen.

I bet it will be one of those random songs they just start singing. Who knows! Maybe they'll start a new song. I have no idea but I'm sure Skandar and Georgie alone could come up with something random!
