Is anyone here also a fan of the sci-fi novels?

I loved them. Both The Ender Saga and the Shadow Saga. Though I haven't had a chance to read the Book in the Shadow Saga.

Yay! Another fan. I've finished the Shadow series but still have half of the Ender series to finish.

This is besides the point, but didn't you have an Equilibrium avatar before? Love that movie to the point of obsessive devotion!

LOL. Yeah I did. Had it for ages. Still have it lying around somewhere I think.

Back on topic.

I would have loved to go to battle school. It would have been awesome.

Same here. I always fantasized myself as one of the genius, smart-mouthed students of the Battle school. Now, I'm on my "desk", surfing the "net", with a "vid" playing in the background!

I heard Card had a new book coming out; it's not one of the Ender or Shadow series is it?

In case anyone is curious, there is going to be a movie - due in 2008. Wolfgang Peterson is going to direct it. How they are going to cast it, I have no idea.

Wow - first time I spotted this thread. I'm a huge fan of Ender's Game, and I like Card's other works as well. He's an interesting author - he can churn out some really good stuff, but I find that his series at times "flag in the stretch". The earlier books are usually better than the later ones. In my opinion, the Alvin Maker books are an example. But there's no denying Ender is a masterpiece.

Yay! I'm so excited that there is someone else who likes Ender's Game?

How are the Alvin Maker Series? I have heard a lot about them.

Alvin is a good read - as I mention, it starts off stronger than it continues, but good nonetheless. I hope Card comes back to finish it.

Can you tell me a little about the plot?

YO, Yeah I haven't gotten around to reading the other books. Most of my friends say that the others just aren't as fun or good as Ender's Game. So I'm not sure if I will get to them. I love the first story and hope that Wolfgang Petersen can get the movie done right if he does in fact get the production going.

Actually, the rest of the series is quite good, really intense and quite brilliant. But they certainly aren't as good as Ender's Game. They're quite different, but still good.
