I was gonna be born in Moscow, but my father had a terrible family emergency and wanted to have the baby (me) there. So, I am American but have Russian blood in me. As I said before, I visit Russia every year and see tons of sights. I love it.

This is really cool! I am not Russian but I went there with my family when I was 5 and came back when I was 13. I speak it fluently and I am going to go back in a year or so. I am so glad too see so many that are interested in it. I love it over there and it is really my home.

Russia is cool. I have been to many places: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk, Magnitogorsk -- and also to Chernigov in Ukraine and Minsk in Belarus.

I would like to return, but I used to go on business, and now my office doesn't send me as much. Too bad. Russian people are very nice!

I was producing a video which focused on some charitable/missions work my clients were doing, so I could only do sight-seeing on the way to the shoot and on the way home. We also shot our principal making doing his narration/talking head bits in Red Square, so we were all over there, and the famous square in Leningrad where the Revolution began, the name escapes me! We shot outside the Hermitage, and then in some parks, schools and homes of people. At the time, this is 10-15 years ago, there was no food, we ate mostly cucumbers and salami and bread, and the places we stayed were no Taj Mahal, but the people more than made up for it in hospitality and kindness.

Hmmmm.. we saw a guy with a gun on Red Square. I think he was crazy. He randomly marched up to some monument then saluted, so we all ran away cos we thought he was gonna kill us all.

LOL! you must have been there more recently than I. We did not see any crazy people I can recall, except for drunks! On the trip to Magnitogrosk, Minsk and Chernigov, we used a lot of public transportation, and it was surprising how many drunken people were on the bus or the train. To me it was surprising. But me dad had been known to hit the bottle pretty hard, so I was used to it ...

I was in Moscow studying at Moscow State University in 1992. I loved it there, the trip was just fabulous!! I spent two months there, lived in the dormitory, that large building that looks like a wedding cake that people see in pictures and stuff. I could speak fairly well back then, but since moving to Germany, most of my Russian was forgotten, though I do remember the basics. I figure that one day when I do go back, I will pick it up again. The langauge is beautiful no question, and the hospitality is something that nothing can compare. I truly loved it there.

This was a time in my life that I will never forget. I want to go back, I miss the lady I shared a bath and lavatory with. She is such a gem of a person, and someone I feel a very close bond with. I did visit St. Petersburg, and then visited Uglich, Kostroma, Pleüs, Nizchney Novgorod, Kazan, as well as taking a train to Estonia, to Tallinn.

It was my first trip outside of the US, and not my last, since then, I've been to 16 different countries. ;) This year, we're traveling to Rome, Italy, and that will be country 17 for me. :D

I used to be obseesssed with the Romanovs. The last Imperial Family of Tsarist Russia. I LOVE ALEKSEI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :D
(he was the Tsarevich)
The Romanovs ewere murdered (very bloodiliy and horribly, practically slaughteres) by the Bolsheviks and the Bolsheviks wiped out the whole crown of blood...the whole family...a whole culture!
The Tsarevich, Tsar, EMpress, and the 4 Grand Duchesses were murdered on the night of July 17, 1918. May they and their family rest in peace.

I want to say 1991.As I understood it back then, all this area around Krasnoyarks were "closed communities" because of military secrets. When were you living there? We were able to visit one of the closed communities, I think it was just called "Krasnoyarsk One" or something like this ...

We moved there in 1993,I think. We lived in an old export village meaning that is where they used to send all their criminals and their families. It was a bit wild at times but it was home.

Just to clarify...the mafia is not associated with the Arab terrorists. They are a group on their own. However the president over there is now really putting a tight fist on them and they’ve all but shut down. WE WILL SERVIVE!

Learning Russian is really hard seeing how it is one of the five hardest major languages to speak in the world...but for me its second nature. I think part of the thing that is special about the Russians...like some of the other OLDER countries out there it really has a history to it. I mean America is sooooooooo young and so not much history is behind it unlike Russia. I also think that is what makes it so mysterious. I lived there most of my life and I still find it fascinating, mysterious and thrilling. I LOVE IT!!! :D
