So, where are you all from?

I'm from beautiful Yorkshire, England - Wakefield to be exact, in the North. I love the county, but hate the city - what do you think of your homes?

I'm interested about the distribution of users of this site, since the others I visit are predominately American.

Hello :)

I'm from Denmark.

I've loved the books from I was a child and I've seen the animated film and BBC series many times. Can't wait to see the film(s) although I wish they would have made 'The Magician's nephew' first.

I'm a GRITS*-- but you wouldn't know it. ;) I've lived in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA all my life. I like it... sometimes. Not when the hurricanes, mosquitoes, humidity, or Southern culture are within ten feet of me. I intend to move to Canada after I graduate college, or even go to a Canadian college. Canada's cool. B)

I'm living in sunny Southern California in "the safest city in america" Simi Valley. It's south of Los Angeles and is pretty boring but has a lot of movie theaters and an overload of people.

If any of you have been watching the Reagan funeral processions the community across from the Library is where I live.

Grand Rapids, Michigan. It's a nice place to live, as far as I'm concerned. The winters can be a little harsh, but the summers are nice and never REALLY too hot.

I'm from Dhaka, Bangladesh. For those of you who are georaphically lost, Bangladesh is a tiny country in South Asia - right next to India - with a not so tiny population. We're proud to be a poverty-striken, mosquito-plagued flood zone when ice from the Himalayas to the north of us melts. We've also been called the most corrupt nation in the world. Now on a positive note, Bangladesh is still a nice place to live - if you ignore its many faults - and in time you might grow to like it. I know I did.

I know where Bangladesh is (I love geography!!!!)! I live in Dallas, Texas. I wanna move to the UK ASAP, cuz I loved being there last summer (a year ago today, I was in Newquay, England on a missions trip), and I have always wanted to go to Scotland! I am so pathetic...I also wanna live in the UK so I can get a British accent...we had a guest pastor last week and he was from Scotland, so I signed up for the tape of the sermon so I could learn the accent :D ! I'm with sparki2 on the whole 'love the country, hate the city' deal; I always have enjoyed being able to go outside and "explore" forests...I did this at my first youth group retreat in 7th grade, and had a lot of fun, but then, the next summer, I did the same thing in Colorado with my youth group at camp, and later found out that people had been looking for me (even though I told somebody where I was going--can you guess who, Becca?). Which reminds me, I would also like to live in Colorado.
By the way, Alsanali, our youth leader was born in the US, but his parents are Indian.

Um, I live in Michigan, USA, right now. I used to live in Brazil, South America (no, I'm not a native), and I've lived in Florida. My least favorite was Florida ( I lived in the city, ooh, I don't like pavement). ;)
I'm happy where I am now, though Brazil was very nice... ^_^

I live in everyones favorite places in dreams. yeah thats right, fresno california. And if you have seen Con Air and know what i'm talking about, you are sorely mistaken, i'm still confused as to where that was, i think that was filmed in the mohave desert and we are a few hours drive north of that. But yes a lovely town if you like the heat.

I live in southern Florida near the Kennedy Space Center. The area where I live is kind of rural, but Orlando is only an hour's drive away. There are a lot of fun things to do here in the summer. Surfing, fishing, snorkeling, flying and skiing just to name a few. I've been to Brazil, The UK and most of the US, but I still love living in Florida. :D

One thing I loved about living in Florida was the ocean, specifically when I would visit Anna Maria Island. It was beautiful there and always perfect weather when I went. ***Sigh*** ^_^ ;)

If any of you guys are ever in Tasmania, that little island south east of Australia(and yes it IS part of australia) drop in and say hi!

Ok, yes i have seen a Tasmanian devil. Yes i have seen a kangaroo(usually rather flat and dead). Yes we do have poisonous snakes and spiders. No they are not as abundant as trees. No the devils do nto stand on two legs and spin around really fast.

Hopefully that covers everything.

Golly, I can't believe I didn't post in here already. I thought I had. Okay well...

My parent's are missionaries in the Philippines (I'm American by nationality, Filippino by heart). I was born and raised there and have been to the States only three times previous to now. I'm in the States now because both my parent's have cancer. But you can find out about that in the Prayer Requests section, I'm telling about where I live. :D

The Philippines is a very tropical very hot very sticky very humid very sunny place. For those of you who aren't sure where it is, it's south China, east of Indonesia, west of Hawaii, and north of Papua New Guinei (not sure of the spelling). It's also in the middle of the Philippine Sea. B) There are two seasons, the hot season and the hot-hot season. :P No, it's really the dry and rainy season. Dry lasts from January to June, and rainy is the rest. The temperture ranges (all year round) from 87 to 102. The humidity is around 95%.

The Philippines has its faults and down parts, like all third world countries, but I love it, cuz it's my home (and it really tore me up to leave it!). Oh, yeah, I've got 1 older brother (almost 19), two younger sisters (14 and 10), and a little brother (8). I'm 16. Hmmm...I think that's it.

Hey this is kinda weird... I had this dream where my sister and I were riding a bike and we went over a ramp and landed in New Zealand, in some kinda national parade. So I started asking people if they had an internet alias named Monkeh. And then it turned out Monkeh was Stewie from Family Guy. I'm surprised that dream-fishy remembered where Monkeh lived.

Legolas Turner, I got to school at Evangel University in Springfield. It's a good school, I guess, but I am way ready to graduate and get out of here. Sadly, I have a whole 'nother year. I'm doing summer school this year, too, which bites. Luckily, I leave on Wednesday to finally have my vacation. Going to stay with Jennyjenjen56 for the rest of the summer.

Hi, I'm from a tiny farmhouse in Mid Missouri. I'm 30, addicted to reading (mostly old dusty books), playing the violin, border collies, the BBC, Dylan Thomas, movies, road trips, and cooking. I have a hunky husband, a beautiful daughter, a cat, a border collie, and two chickens. My dog currently herds my two chickens and hopes to graduate to sheep (which I still have to buy). It does get very hot here - but we get equal parts everything else - fall colors, winter snow, april showers and flowers. It is the kind of landscape I've always pictured Narnia to be.

whoa! you sound very interesting! I mean...hehe...where you live, and also yourself. I wish that I lived on a farm. It's what I've always dreamed of, and to have seasons. If you'll read my post of where I'm from, we only have two seasons.

Cymrugirl
07-14-2004, 04:00 PM
Well, technically, I don't live on an actual farm. My house is a old craftsman style farmhouse (which was built during the period of LWW actually) and has an old barn which I'm sure housed some type of rather large animals. We used to have an orchard in our backyard, but we live on the side of a bluff and most of the fruit trees have blown down. The "farm" is now only about an acre but is surrounded by larger farms that actually farm the old fashioned way - with sheep dogs and horse and cart. Everything I do with my gardens and sheep dog and chickens, etc. is just a hobby. And yes, the seasons are wonderful. I lived in San Dimas, which was enjoyable, while attending college and I missed them so much it hurt.

Cymru is the real name for the country of Wales and my roots are Welsh. C.S. Lewis is listed on the famouswelsh website, although he was born in Ireland. It is phonetically pronounced "Coom - ree". The alphabet is entirely different with different phonetic sounds we use in English.

Welsh, in my opinion, sounds very similar to elvish in LOTR or vice versa. Wales has one of the longest city names in the world. Are you ready?

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysilio gogogoch (58 letters),
which in English means:

"Saint Mary's Church in the hollow of white hazel near a rapid whirlpool and the Church of Saint Tysilio near the red cave."

I surely want to visit that city, if only to see its sign *g*

I come from Germany, the north-eastern part of Bavaria, only 40 km to the Czech Republik border, to be more accurate. It's nice village of maybe 6000 inhabitants surrounded by a lot of smaller villages (up to 100 inhabitants), meadows and farmland, hills and woods (add a lack of cars and power-lines and you've got the Shire). Only about 10 km south there's a larger city of some 50 000 people. Yes, that's what we call a 'larger city' ;)

I wouldn't like to live somewhere else, though. My home is neither city nor countryside, but you can reach both of them within a few minutes and if you have to leave the country it's a matter of half an hour.

no, that's true, especially for my little country, but we have a very different thinking of distance. you think that something is not very far away, but for us: we think that it's almost on the other side of the world. it's really strange, but true :p so we never go so far away

Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. It's EXTREMELY boring actually. :( Kinda sad, it's my trademark move to say sometimes FTSSONC (from the sleep state of NC) We've got cool things though, close to us is NC State, UNC, and DUKE!!! Those are colleges though, they're everywhere. They're just really top colleges, and this makes it a bit peculiar, but that's it mostly. We also have Mr. Clay Aiken, but he's never here anymore, and his Christmas Concert here sucked, and it sold out in eight minutes, so I didn't get to go, but my friend did. She says it was no good. Like I said, this place is kinda boring now. :(

I live in Australia but in a suburb so small its probably not even on the map but I haven't checked myself and think it would be very damaging to my self esteem if I did. But the place is called Helensburgh (not the one in Scotland) its in New South Wales around the border between Sydney and Woolongong, And contrary to popular belief its not a hole its actually a hill and if anyone here is from Waterfall YOU are the ones living in the dip in the land!!!

if i gave you my town name you would only have to go through 400 odd people to find me.Only 400 odd people? You did say Missouri, right? :D

Sorry, couldn't resist. Each year when I would take the Scout Troop to the Shiloh National Battlefield I would have them take a photo of me with my camera in front of the Missouri monument. It is a huge granite shape of Missouri in a square marble base. Very impressive and about 3' taller than me. I would then ask them if they knew why I had them take the photo.

"Because you're from Missouri?"

"No. It's the SHOW ME state. And this is the photo that shows me..." ;)

It became a running gag and the older boys would never spoil the line for the younger naive boys.

My family has lived near Houston since around 1986, but I grew up in Orlando. I just moved to Houston in January to finish school.

A Michigander poking in to annoy everyone, and to ask a simple question:

Do y'all have any, like, water down there?

(:D)

(Actually, I've visited Texas lots of times. Flat. Hot. Dry. Boring. Lots of.)

Agree totally! Now, I must admit, around the Panhandle in West Texas, it is almost like a desert because it's so barren. I grew up in the Panhandle, but the things I hate most are the wind and the dust. Two things I don't miss at all.

I was born in Arlington, Texas. Moved when I was 6 or 7. I love Texas. We used to go for drives in the hill country to see my extended family. Texas is gorgeous if you know where to go. I love Texas! Hook 'em horns all the way!!!
