Do you think auditions will be restricted only to people with agents?
I think it would be cool if it was an open audition like "Pop Idol", "American idol" whatever...(except with no Simon Cowel!!!! :D ) where anyone from all walks of life could have a chance to try for the part of Caspian.
When casting for young Anakin in "Star Wars: Episode One", the casting crews scoured a variety of schools looking for kids, some who probably didn't even have any acting experience!!

Yeah, and look how that turned out!

I think that with a serious production like Caspian, they should get a serious actor - though I agree with many on this forum that an unknown would be best. Remember, he's going to be a major character in two movies - Caspian and Dawn Treader. They shouldn't take chances with this character.

I don't see what peoples' problem with Episode One is. It's probably the best of the prequels.

Remember, he's going to be a major character in two movies - Caspian and Dawn Treader. They shouldn't take chances with this character.

Not necessarily, "Dawn Treader" is set quite a few years (Narnia time) after "PC".

Not necessarily, "Dawn Treader" is set quite a few years (Narnia time) after "PC".Actually, it's only three - one of the few firm date ranges we get in the whole Narnia series. That would be ideal for an actor playing both: he'd age at just about the same rate in real life as his character would in Narnia. It wouldn't be so easy for the Pevensies, since for them it's about an earth year that passes between each Narnian visit - though with Dawn Treader you'd only have to worry about Skandar and Georgie,

I agree completely.
I have no issues with Caspian being an unknown but being untrained is another story.

I agree, but disagree. I do NOT want anyone that I know. So the actor needs to be unknown, it makes it more "magical" in my opinion. But I agree that they shouldn't take a chance, but then again, some of the best actors/musicians that we have may not be where they are if it were not for someone taking a chance on them.

We don't know as yet if there will be open auditions, but obviously people with agents are goin to get a chance either way.

Wow, sorry to disagree, but Epsiode I was the weakest of all 6. I went to the theatre twice to watch it thinking I must have missed something. But that's way off topic........

Now there, you are correct sir. It would need to be an older Caspian, however, Lucy and Edmund need to still be pretty close to what they are...Start running into the Harry Potter problem, Characters outgrowing their roles....LOL :D

By "not take a chance", I meant get someone with true acting talent - which doesn't necessarily mean someone known.

Georige, Skander, Anna and William were all people from schools, of course Anna been in a few movies but still she wasn't amazingly known like someone like Hilary Duff, even though I think Anna is a much better actress than Hilary Duff, even though Hilary Duff is a good actress, she has gone on some weird diet, so Anna is better and more sensible.
Getting off topic there....

Those four were choosen from drama groups and schools, so who knows with Prince Capsian - schools and drama programs might get searched for Prince Caspian.
My brother joked and said I could dress up as a boy and audition for Caspian!

They were all involved in drama and aside from Georgie the others had agents and were well plugged into the casting circuit. She did search through schools for casting but as yet we don't even know if Pippa is involved in the project.

They did the same thing for LWW.

I haven't got an agent, and I've managed to find a way of being noticed by Pippa, so all you have to do is to get Pippa's attention.

Please don't ask me to tell you her E-mail/Phone Number/Address because I can't.

Hello all,

My first, central question about this whole issue is, if they're casting an unknown, how much experience does the actor have to have. Are we talking about years upon years or what? I'm looking into acting lessons, but being realistic it doesn't seem like I have much of a chance, especially with the low likelihood of any open auditions (which would of course have allowed for people with less experience than a professional to audition (I'm assuming)). Second question: If one had so many months and maybe a project or two under one's belt, what would be one's chances, realistically speaking? Well, that's it for now. Just speculating. Thanks in advance for any help involving these questions.

So once again: How much experience is expected for an unknown actor to have a serious shot at the role of Prince Caspian? Months? Years? Five films? Ten? Or what? Thanks in advance for an help rendered, as this question is one that has plagued me since I heard the news about Prince Caspian and the great likelihood of an unknown actor being selected for the role. I'm hoping maybe ABright5 or some other expert (I'm not being sarcastic, they seriously know more than I and have more contacts than I). could help me with this. Thanks again. Sorry for seeming overly pushy, I'm just uber excited aboot this situation/issue.

Georgie Henley didn't have any acting experience before LWW, and she got the part of Lucy, because Pippa went around to schools around the country to look for the Pevensies.
I believe that she is doing a similar thing, which would mean that you don't have to have any official experience.

Andrew said, in an interview, (can't remember who took it) that (for LWW) he wasn't looking for the "Child Actors" or the "Chocolate Box Kids", he was looking for "real children" who had the "potential to be actors".

I would assume that he is looking for the same sort of thing for Prince Caspian, so I think that, as long as you can get an audition (and news of how to do it will be posted here (http://www.narniafans.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6936) as soon as we know anything) you will have as much chance, if not more, than someone who has lots of experience.

I hope this helps you, and don't worry about seeming pushy.

I wouldn't advise you to dye your hair yet.

Wait until the audition, and then tell them that you would be willing to dye it if they want, because if they don't wont a blond Caspian, they won't want you to dye it.

So, what's the maximum age you could ya be and still have a chance at getting the part? Do jah have to be sixteen or seventeen. Or could you (reasonably speaking) be older (18-20), 'cause after I shave (I don't have much for a beard or mustache), I look about 3-4 years younger, sans my increased height. Also, ABright5, are you British or American? Just wondering.

I'm British.

I think it depends on what Andrew decides about how old he wants the character to be.
I expect it will be arround 16-18 but we will have to wait until any official news is released until we can find out for sure.
