"Big Fish" all the way. Second, probably Edward Scissorhands, but not very much. I'm very much looking forward to Tim Burton's spin on "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (with Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka.)

I can't wait to see how that turn out. It should be fun. But Edward Sissorhands amd Big Fish are my two favourite Tim Burton movies aswell lol.

hey the reason nightmare before christmas was on the disney channel is that disney produced it, its considered a disney movie. I love that movie though. Its so cool. Im a fan of the first to batmans of course. Its been forever since ive watched edward scissorhands, so i need to go rent it again. I remember thinking it was weird, cause well i was a little kid last time i saw it. Big fish was great, i love that movie.

One movie i wish didnt have his name behind is the new planet of the apes, well i still think that movie blowed. I just hate it. I i wont let myself like it just cause i like tim burton.

I have to agree with that Timmy. I hated Planet of the Apes aswell.

Though I didn't realise The Nightmare was a Disney movie. It just doesn't suit the name disney for some reason lol. It doesn't look right.

Edward Scissorhands is one of my favourite movies of all time. And the only good movie Winona Ryder has done.

Also has anyone else seen Ed Wood with Johnny Depp? Another Tim film thats quite weird/interesting. I have it on DVD.

I have yet to make up my mind about Willy Wonka. The idea sounds terrible, but in the hands of Tim... well ill reserve my opinion until it comes out.

I have not seen ed wood yet. Though i know a little about it, cause my friends have talked about it and stuff, they like it and they have similar taste to mine. So i just need to see it at some point.

I know that this is not a tim burton film but its has johnny depp, and now i just had a brainfart cause i cant remember the name. Its black and white and hes like part indian and stuff, I think its a one word title and this is pissing me off, been gone from the states for too long.

Also, monkeh, i know you love guy ritchie, has he done anything besides lock stock, and snatch i should see?

Nah. There are 2 short films and some italian one. But don't bother about them, Unless of course you can actually get your hands on a copy of Hard case. Its only 20 minutes long but from what I've heard, its good.

He is coming out with a new movie next year. Its called Revolver. Should be good. Keep an aya out for it.

Burton is forever on my dirt list for butchering the first two Batman movies and setting the tone for two more hack jobs. However, I really enjoyed Big Fish. I either really enjoy Burton's films or want to set fire to them.

wow, such strong feelings. I like a person who knows how the feel about movies and no budging. So may i ask dave, what directors you do like most of their movies, you seem the type that may not like a single director for all his movies. So just curious.

I have never seen The nightmare before christmas, I was little when it came out and my parents wouldn't let me see it. The same for edward scissors hands, and I just haven't bothered to see them. although I admit I've always wanted to see both so I will have to. I really like big fish, and I actually liked planet of the apes. I'm not sure why but I did. It's not my favorite or anything but I enjoyed it. I can't wait to see charlie and the chocolate factory. It's such a fun book and with Johnny depp, well It's bound to be good! So are edwards and nightmare worth seeing or are they a waste of my time?

Monkeh
11-16-2004, 03:17 AM
Definately worth seeing. Edward is one of my favourite movies(Depp is sooo good as Edward), and Nightmare is just plain fun.

Hey tgraveline, sorry it took so long to reply. I'm a big fan of Spielberg's movies. He tells a story well and at such high quality. His subject matter runs the gambit which is nice because you know he's not stuck in one genre.

I've enjoyed every Tim Burton movie I've seen, and though I haven't seen anything of the Batman movies, I love the work where he gets to come more into his own. Tim Burton is really at home with surreal, bizzare, out there characters and/or scenery. Edward Scissorhands and BeetleJuice are good examples. I'm looking forward quite a bit to Willy Wonka and The Corpse Bride, both due out next year.

If I had to state what my most favorite Tim Burton movie was, I wouldn't be able to decide between Edward Scissorhands and Nightmare Before Christmas. Edward is, on the whole, better plotwise, but Nightmare Before Christmasses' imagery and scenery are really incredible. Plus Nightmare's songs are better.

Big Fish is definitely one of my all time favorite movies.

Tim Burton didn't direct The Nightmare Before Christmas, unlike popular belief.

Bitter Milton

Well ill be... your right. He did co-author the story, hence "Tim Burton's" The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Monkeh
12-05-2004, 05:34 AM
Wow. I never check to see who directed it lol. I've always known it as Tim Burtons Nightmare. As Bitter said. Maybe I should check these things from now on lol.

hey just watched the teaser for the new wonka film, looks interesting, and i'm a bit curious and all about it. Just not sure how its gonna be, right now it looks like its going to be either amazing or i won't be able to get over the fact that its not the original

I started laughing when I first saw it. no idea why. I just did. I think its going to be cool. Depp looks pretty good. though I'm not sure about the glasses. Oh and the Oompa Loompa's I'm still deciding about.

tgraveline
12-11-2004, 03:02 PM
yeah i must say the sunglasses were a bit um odd, which is wonka, but yeah it was a bit crazy, and depss teeth look done up too, which kind of freaked me out a little.

OK, from the teaser, I thought that Depp as Wonka looked very fitting in every way. but the rest I winced at, especially the background music. And the overall look of it just didn't look Tim Burton-esque. It looked. ...Dr. Suess-esque. The jury's out with me and this movie now. We'll see how it goes later...

jennyjenjen56
12-12-2004, 06:53 AM
His teeth are totally disturbing! It totally changes his face, and from a female perspective, It's better when Depp leaves what God did well enough, alone. I was totally disturbed by the song but I still really really want to see this movie! :D

Bitter Milton

He wrote nightmare before christmas.

faeriechylde
12-31-2004, 10:13 PM
Yes, he did write it. I know, because I hear about "Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas" all the time, and my cousins DVD version of the movie includes a couple of short films by Tim Burton. One was called "Frankenweenie," about a boy who brings his dog back to life after it's been hit by a car. It's a very interesting film, with the same kid who plays Bastian in the Neverending Story playing the boy who brings the dog to life. Besides those two movies, the only Tim Burton films I've seen (that I know of) are Big Fish, Sleepy Hollow, and Batman. I'm looking forward to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, though I'm a little disturbed by what I've heard here, since I haven't seen any of the previews to judge for myself. I guess I'll take my chances and see it anyway...

Tim Burton is one of my favorite directors. But it kind of upsets me because he used to be more of an underground director and people knew about him, but he wasn't real big in the mainstream. Then Hot Topic started selling stuff for the NIghtmare Before Christmas and suddenly a lot of punkers I knew, who didn't care much for Tim Burton before were sporting his stuff and saying how much they loved his movies. I still love almost of his movies (except Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), but I miss the lesser known days.

Sleepy Hallow was awesome! the fainting thing always puts a smile on my face.

I thought Sleepy Hollow was "scary." ;)

Yeah...psychological thrillers are funny if you look at them a certain way.
Yeah! You do need to see Corpse Bride! You can't not miss watching it! It's crucial to...um...well, you just have to watch it. It's awesome. The extra features are pretty interesting, too.

I think Delmenia wanted to like pause the extra features to see the famous "Wino Forever" tattoo. It was kinda funny...she's kinda in denial.

ChildOfAslan7
02-01-2006, 07:58 PM
oooooohhhh! i've got dirt on her now! heehee. i really think she is in denial (not the one in Egypt). anyway, i say

i wonder what happens if i post that poem i wrote.........

Edwina_Scissorfingers
02-01-2006, 08:05 PM
I suppose it's your choice.
It was a pretty awesome poem, though. But this is a Tim Burton thread after all. I suppose if you want to change the name...but that would be kind of weird.
They updated Tim Burton's page on imdb about "Believe it or not." I wonder if it's actually true that Jim Carrey's going to be in that...weird match.

ChildOfAslan7
02-01-2006, 08:12 PM
I don't think Tim and Jim would work very well with each other.
Jim's an attention hogger and well, Tim seems so calm and......"peaceful" in a way.

Jim's just bizzare, not like Johnny Depp's Bizzare. Just bizzare, although i like some of his movies very much. yeah, like "The Mask"

Edwina_Scissorfingers
02-01-2006, 08:15 PM
Tim is like way too shy and Jim is like waaaaaay to...like how you said-an "attention hogger." I wonder if that their working together was actually true or not. I can't even remember where I read that.... Oh well.
It looks like on the imdb.com forums that somebody thinks that Johnny is going to play Ripley. Hmm... "I wonder...."

ChildOfAslan7
02-01-2006, 08:17 PM
well if it's Johnny, then it's no surprise. if it's somebody else.......that might be a surprise.

Corpse Bride
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.....

Blow
Ed Wood
Sleepy Hallow
Corpse Bride
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.....

they've go a long history

One of these doesn't belong....
If you're listing Johnny/Burton films, replace "Blow" with "Edward Scissorhands." :)
Of course, I suppose they could have someone completely different play the part in "Believe it or not"...I dunno. I really don't know enough about the character to judge who would be a good Ripley.

Harumph. Fine.
I dunno. The whole Jim/ Burton thing must have been a rumor...it's coming out in 2007...how much can they know?
Of course, I'm sure that if Johnny played Ripley, then he would probably do a good job.

ChildOfAslan7
02-01-2006, 09:04 PM
no duh. when has Johnny not done a good job? well, in Tim's movies anyway. they were made for each other. as kindred spirits that is.

ChildOfAslan7

Edwina_Scissorfingers
02-01-2006, 11:16 PM
Tim Burton is about 48 years old I believe. But I always liked the number 42...mostly because it's an even number and 4 goes into 2 two times...perhaps I'm the only one who finds that amusing.

The Corpse Bride was hilarious and it wasn't R. It was PG actually. (I think) anyway, i loved that movie. I'm kind of picking about tim burton movies, (not all of them appeal to me) but I was laughing hysterically through most of the movie.

"Believe It or Not picks up with Ripley at the time when he gained celebrity status through a "Believe it or Not" column that chronicled his search for the greatest oddities in the world. Ok. I'll make sure I watch it over my winter break. I've heard several songs from the soundtrack and i'm very intrigued to actually see the action.

Yes, Johnny Depp and Helena BC and Burton make the most interesting collaborations.
They work together so well.
Yeah, I agree. The new Alice does seem a little bit older than I had imagined her when I read the book. Hopefully her acting will make up for it.:p

The Burton/Depp/BC stuff is always sooooo good in every way. True, HBC can't sing (except in "A Little Priest" and "The Worst Pies In London"), but their stuff is always so well-done and visually appealing.

QueenSusanofNarnia

Well good thing she can act! :)

I really have been waiting for Emily Browning to do something with Burton. It would be really cool. I loved "Lemony Snicket" and she does have that Burton-ish vibe. She had a movie coming out - a remake of a Japanese film - but I think she's doing modeling or something now.
