While The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe continues to rake in millions at the box office, plans for a second Chronicles of Narnia film are already underway.

According to Variety.com, Cary Granat, CEO of LWW co-producers Walden Media, reported that the script for Prince Caspian is already, “underway, with plans to tap a director within a few weeks.”

“We’re planning on starting production by the fourth quarter of next year,” Granat told Variety.

LWW director Andrew Adamson has already said that Caspian would be his first choice for a sequel, as it’s the only other book in the Narnia series that contains all four Pevensie children.

“If we don’t make it now, we’ll never be able to because they’ll be too old,” said Adamson according to ContactMusic.com. “That Chronicle is set one year after this one, so it would allow for the kids to get a bit older.”

Adamson added that he would be, “perfectly happy to make all seven.”

While Adamson’s involvement in Prince Caspian is not confirmed, NarniaWeb has reported that Douglas Gresham –C.S. Lewis’ stepson and consultant to LWW- will be on board for the Narnia sequel, although his exact role in the film is unclear.

Meanwhile, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe spent its fourth consecutive weekend at the top of the foreign box office, bringing in an estimated $20.1 million overseas last weekend, bringing the film’s international gain to $319 million, according to Hollywood Reporter. LWW has grossed more than $580 million worldwide since its Dec. release.

SWEET! Thanks for providing this great info, glamel! I am extremely excited to see the sequels, and I'm so glad that Adamson said he wants to make all 7 :). I also think it's great that he wants to make Prince Caspian next...I think they should stick to the publication order for the sequels.

p.s. What happened to your awesome banners. :D j/k

I don't know about anyone else, but having read all the Narnia books before the hype of the films, I'd say that any of the the books beside "The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe" are highly unsuitable for translation into modern film.
"Prince Caspian" is a much shorter story than "LWW" if you consider it as one flowing story. "PC" also lacks the weight and depth that "LWW" alone possesses.
I think that is would be a far wiser move to combine "PC" and "Dawn Treader" into one film, leaving the "The Silver Chair" for the third and final movie.
These stories form the original body of the saga, especially concerning the Pevensie family, whereas the remaining three books are the most unsuitable in terms of film success, not to mention the drastic changes to the content needed to avoid the so-called "Political correctness" issues embedded within the text.
I'm referring to "The Last Battle" in particular.
