This thread is where you can post odd, wierd, funny, embarrasing, etc. things that have happened at your YGs.

We recently had a YG Fear Factor with several tests. One was to eat crickets. Yes, real crickets. One of the contestants got through fine (he has had a history of cricket eating). The other contestant put it in her mouth, chewed once, and then screamed and started spitting and flailing around her arms and legs and was basically freaking out. We later found criket body parts all over the floor.

I hope they took the legs off first. You can eat crickets & grasshoppers, but the legs aren't good to swallow because the tiny spines can scratch and pierce the intestinal wall.

Just what you wanted to know, right?

eww, no I didn't know that, and no, I didn't want to know that. But I wasn't the one who ate them. I would never do that!!!

The crickets were from a candy store and so they were bacon and Cheese flavored and a couple were chocolate covered.

Another weird Youth group thing I've seen was someone using Whipped Cream as hair cream.

lol! Umm ok well one night we played some game that's basically like charades and my friend (abbyluvswilliam) had this scenario and it was "Husband and wife on a romantic dinner" and she had to be the wife and it was really funny because we just started going this school year so she was really embarressed and it might be her most embarrissing moment!
At camp last year we played Fear Factor too! Only they swallowed Goldfish and spit out crickets!

My youth group is deemed boring. But there was one time when we played a Bible game, its a board game, and we had to roll the die and then answer the question or we didnt get to move or something...I forget....and the board had the 12 tribes names on the outside so I was reading them out-loud and I said "Long word cant pronouce, Ephriam...hey thats my dog" and then my YGL said "No, your dog is not the leader of one of the tribes of Isreal" totally killing my spirts......ok that was so much funnier when it happened....I guess you just had to be there...

Well... the funniest thing that happened was the Sunday School teachers looked at each other and one of them said "With them as the grown-ups of the future world.. it's going to be an anarchy..." We're chaotic..

The nastiest thing my youth group ever did was a well-titled game called 'throw up'.. left and right lines of people - one per line, racing...they have to go to a brown paper bag, pull out a can, (whatever it is) and eat it...the WHOLE thing! be it mushrooms, wax beans, olives, sardines, tuna, etc etc...*shudder* I always had to leave the room when they played that! ugh so nasty.

We've had funny games too, though...Here's an example: 4 teams with 2 people per team, racing: #1 teammate wears a garbage bag (w/ a hole for the head) over his/her body, lies down on the floor wearing huge safety glasses, he/she puts an Alka Seltzer tablet on his/her safety glasses, then #2 teamate stands on a chair with a huge water gun, and tries to dissolve the tablet before another team wins! haha totally pointless! And of course I was the teammate that had to get squirted at! This was New Years Eve (really really cold), and my hair was absolutely SOAKED! arrggh...

You wouldn't believe all of the wierd stuff my youth group (junior and senior high) does! Gross! but not all of it. last night we had to film a commercial about a famous person coming to youth group. My part of the group did Chewbocca, Yoda, and Artoo. I was Yoda's transalator. (hey "sister", Ben was artoo's voice and Angelina was his transalator!)

we sorta do something like that on sundays [its called the underground challenge] it doesnt always involve eating things [one time some kids had to eat spam]. believe me, its a challenge. not that you hafta do it, sometimes you can just sit and watch and laugh.... it's funny. it definitey wakes you up in the morning ;)

As a long-term Scoutmaster, I have a million of them. One year we were telling ghost stories at summer camp and naturally I got in to the spirit of the thing (no pun intended!) and with my wild imagination you can just imagine what happens.

Well the story I was telling some of the younger guys was about "Beanie Bob" who was one of the elderly leaders. He did what I often do, taking the midnight security patrol with the flashlight turned off, walking down the road by starlight alone listening for mischief. You can't surprise someone if your light is on, you know. You save that sudden flick on of light to catch someone up to no good. Well anyway, old Bob used to walk the Summer Camp circle road and if you were up and an adult you could say, "Hey Bob, whatcha doin' out there?" and he would cheerfully say "Oh nothing at all!"

When he died he had put in his will that he wanted his ashes scattered by Ackers Lake. But the council wouldn't permit it...said it would raise legal issues. Some of his friends went out to the lake with a thermos full of --- coffee --- yeah, coffee --- to talk. And by the time they came back they had drunk all the coffee. Yeah. <wink wink>.

While I was telling the story some of the OLDER scouts that should have known better gathered around. They were hooked. They asked me if that was so..did he really..like, REALLY? Does that mean Ackers Lake is a gravesite? Oh sure it is. Unofficially of course.

Since that night, at midnight, you can hear the footsteps in the gravel as he makes the circuit keeping the boys safe. If you ask "Hey Bob, whatcha doing out there?" he'll say "Nothing at all!"

Now some of the quicker wits out there in The Dancing Lawn will be laughing already. You know the punchline. You have a boy yell it...and ... of course... he says NOTHING AT ALL because it's all baloney! "See, I told you he'd say nothing at all!"

That's the way it's SUPPOSED to work.

So I had to walk to admin to take some paperwork. It was close to midnight. I asked a couple of the younger boys to accompany me because, as I explained, I felt scared to be out there at the witching hour when Bob makes his posthumous rounds. And ALL THE BOYS wanted to go. The older ones fell for it just like the tenderfoots. Ah good, the more the merrier.....

So we were walking along in the pitch blackness. Suddenly I stopped them. They were hushed, standing there with bated breath. There were footsteps up ahead coming toward us. Perfect opportunity. I looked back. "Ok boys, who's going to say it?? You, Bradley??" Finally one of the boys got up courage and shouted, "Hey Bob, whatcha doing out there??"

And I swear....

"Oh, nothing at all!"

AAAAAUUUUUGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When they all lit out back for camp like a bunch of scared rabbits, Bob Younts came up to me in the dark. "What was THAT about?"

"They thought it was a ghost."

"How did you know it was me?"

"Lucky guess."

That was...putting it mildly...a moment to die for. :D

Chakal, I love your post, you're terrible!

I have a story. Kinda. It doesn't qualify for a real story after reading Chakal's, but still! ;)

When I was still in JH, my youth group was playing a game in our Church gym- I don't remember the game, or the rules, I just remember running crazily around the gym like a fool, shouting out lame comments in accordance with the game. I also vaguely remember dodgeballs. ;) Okay, first of all, I'm REALLY competitive, or was more back then.

So, we were playing the game and it had something to do with dodgeballs- we were split up into teams or something, and for some reason, me and my team had tackled one of the players, who was a female YG leader, named Racheal Valere (her name sent shivers down your back, huh?). So, we were trying to get the ball from her arms, and in the confusion I started pulling on her shirt or something. She got this horrified look on her face and shouted at me "STOP! STOP!" And, psh, please, of course I didn't stop! Then she looked at me, (all serious and mean like) and said "Stop it right now!" I pulled on her precious shirt for a little more, then let go- we obtained possesion of the ball, so I left.

Next thing I know, somebody comes up from behind and grabs me- I ask who it is, not one, not two, AT LEAST THREE TIMES! but does she respond? NO! I tried to struggle out of her grasp as I watched my team losing, knowing that I could help if I was let loose- but I couldn't even budge! (Keep in mind my competetiveness.)

So then I started to dig my fingernails into her arms, but she still didn't move. So then I got an idea that had flashed into my mind- I leaned my head by her arm, opened my mouth, and bit her arm, smack dab in the middle! And yes, I got her to let go... MUAW-HA-HA!

After that, I got kicked out of the game and got a full fifteen minute lecture on why little 13 year-old girls shouldn't bite people- "after all, you're a human, not a dog!"

(As you can probably guess, I've hated her ever since!) :)

Well I haven't had many camp experiances but...

I have a few mini storys to tell.
My first (that I can remember) time to go to camp I found out that they had a candy shoppe a little ways down the road (it was a small village). Everyone bought candy everyday but not as much as me, I went there and I would come back with a smaller pocket and about three bags of candy in each hand, a strawberry rope around my neck, a coke on top of my arm, and a bag of chips in my mouth. It took a while to get back but it was worth it, all the girls stared at me (I was but a wee lad) and all my guy friends laughed. When I got back to the cabin I hid all the candy, my friends still swear they could hear candy wrappers being ripped off. They named me (well nicknamed me) Stash, I almost got running man for running to the candy store and not stopping. Whenever we had to walk to some place in the dark they could hear a loud "poof" of my potato chips.

This happened today.
I just barely joined this church today, and we found out a youth that I could go to. I took the bus to go a few blocks (it is a fairly large town) and I went inside, not knowing anyone I took a seat by myself. I hadn't been there even ten minutes when a sixteen year old girl (I'm thirteen) came over to me and asked me on a date. I don't know anyone there and no one even knows my name

Well, at my youth group we played "the dating game" where there's one girl and three guys but the girl can't see the guys and the guys have to answer questions, and then the girl has to "pick" one of the three guys, then they switch and have one guy and three girls. Well, we picked one guys and he went out of the room then instead of picking three girls we picked three more guys! so when they were answering the questions they were all talking in squeaky voices! It was HILARIOUS!
