I saw the Nanny McPhee trailer before Narnia, and I haven't heard about it before.
Is it just as good as the books?

Gravedigging for the sole purpose, I bought the DVD today. I saw it in theaters, but seeing it again made me want to talk about it.

I have a 7 year old daughter, she dragged me to this movie. It didn't look as bad as some, but I didn't think I'd enjoy it a whole bunch.

I was absolutely wowed. I haven't read the book, but from what I saw, I plan to. The movie was just fantastic. Funny and beautiful as well. Yes, beautiful.

The story follows a widower and his family of 7 children. They are horrid children who have chased away 17 nannies...the last nanny believing the children ate the baby. The father is distraught and disconnected. His wife had been the main caretaker for the children and without her, he is lost. He also is broke. For years, he is supported by an allowance from his great aunt-in law. But she tells him if he doesn't marry in a month, she will stop the allowance, he will lose his home, be thrown into debt jail, his older children will be forced to work, and his young children would be put in foster care. That's when Nanny McPhee shows up. A portly woman in black with a large nose and warts. The children think she is a witch. She is there to teach them 5 lessons and she also tells them when they need her but do not want her, she will stay. And when they want her, but do not need her, she has to go.

I will not give it away, as it would be a spoiler, but I will say something about one of my favorite artistic points. The story is about a father who needs to listen more to his children, children who need to listen more to their father, and a maid who wishes to be Cinderella. But my favorite point was how things are only as ugly as your behavior. The better you are, the more beautiful things look. You apprieciate them more, and don't see the faults.

I highly recommend this movie. Its just beautiful. I think for Halloween I will dress as Nanny McPhee ;)

I saw the movie in theaters, and I suppose it was all right. It wasn't my favorite.

I liked it! In the companion book to Narnia it says Skandar auditioned.
