View Full Version : If You Could Play Anyone...

I know not all of us are actors here. I am not famous by any means, but enjoy theatre a great deal. I thought that there must be others than me who dreamt of playing a part in LWW the movie?

So my question is this, if you could have been cast as anyone in this movie (or in all of them assuming all 7 are made) who would you be?

My first choice: Jadis the white witch. I have always had an obsession with being the bad guy (or girl in my case) and I would have loved the chance to bring that character to life.

I found at my current age and height the chances of being even considered for Jadis were slim to nill (I'm only 5'2!). So my second choice was Susan. Now that would have been fun!

Now these parts are already taken (but I can dream correct) but if we are to look at future narnian films I have 2 more characters that I wouldn't mind at all if I could play them.

First is Shift. I know I'm a girl, but hey, with make up you can do wonders (plus I've played a boy before in a show, it can be done!). I do a pretty descent monkey impression if I do say so myself.

But thinking in practical terms (I am rarely a practical person though) I would more likely be able to play my second choice, the dryad woman who runs to King Tirian to tell of the felling of the Holy Trees in Lantern waste. Small part, but hey you know what they say, it only takes 15 minutes to be famous, or is it you are only famous for 15 minutes? hmmm....

so, what about you? Even if you can't act, and even if its impossible, lets dream a moment shall we? Who would you want to play?

What a great poll-type-thing!.
Well, oh the choices...
1) It's got to be Jill - she's such a top lass - she has her flaws - frogetting the signs and not being as committed as she could at the start of the SC, but she has her mellower side. She got guts as well, and has the tomboyish side to her too, also, she gets very good at archery, which i've tried once and was awful so it would give me a chance to practice!
2) Lasaraleen - Aravis' friend in Tashbaan in HHB - she's such an awful and ridiculous character, you could imagine the fun having to play such a daft thing!
3)Chief Dufflepud (can't remember his name - if he had one??) A role of pure comedy!

If only such dreams could come true!

What a great idea for a forum!

My first choice would definatly be Jadis: When I want to I can look VERY evil. She would be a wonderful character to portray, I think, esspessially if you could do her in MN and then the White Witch in LWW. When I heard they were making these movies, I was devistated as (Like LOTR) I knew I would be too young to audition for any of the parts. (I'm 5 '10 without shoes, so Jadis would be right up my alley.)

2: On the same lines as 'evil witch' I think I would make a good Green Witch as well from SC.

3. It would be wonderful to play the voice of Whin in the 'Horse and his boy'

4. And for someone not as evil as my first two choices, I've always wanted to be a dryad.....

I always wanted to play Peter. But the current Peter they have chosen looks much better for Peter than me so I would probably choose Caspian. He's probably my second favorite character in the chronicles. I actually would be around the right age since I am two months younger than William Moseley and Caspian is supposed to be around Peter's age. As for looks, that's the part where I wouldn't stand a chance. Check out this picture of me. (http://homepage.mac.com/isaacm/.Pictures/Me%20at%2016.jpg)

Rhindon, you would make a pretty good Caspian, as far as looks are conserned.

GrayCloak~ I thought you were a boy! Hehehe, sorry bout that. I know what you mean though, isn't it fun to play someone so completley unlike yourself? I would love to be *evil  just for fun!

rosymole~ I hadn't even thought about Jill. She would be fun to play.

My sister wants to be Aravis, though she feels she is to tall to pull off the role of a young girl. Lasarleen would be her second choice. Just think about the costumes!

I'm glad you think so.

I have a friend who I think could play Eustace. He's 13 but because he's so short he'd still be able to play him by the time the movie was made. He's actually a pretty good actor. He's always getting leads in plays. The only problem is that he has the most American accent I've ever heard.

If I could act, I would probably like to be Jill or Lucy. They're are just so adventurous (the opposite of me). They would also (hopefully) get all of the hot guys. hehehehehe...........

does anyone know if the director has any plans for eustace or caspian? did they start holding auditions? or is it too early? if they have guys for it, do you know of a site that has pictures of the cast members that have been cast yet?

There are currently no casting plans for the other films that we know of. Though there are rumours that work on the script for the "second film" has begun.

I'd want to play a more "quiet" person. And by quiet, I mean one that doesn't have any or many lines. I like that kind of character (like Harpo of the Marx Brothers) and I feel I can be taken more seriously when I don't say much. I don't have an admiration for my own voice (still haven't gotten used to it since puberty. Ah well.)

But anyway, I'd like to play a silent and mysterious part like one of the centaurs (if I work out my chest and abs a bit more). Or maybe an evil creature of the queen's army like a goblin or something. I think it'd be fun to play Peter if I wouldn't have to fake a British accent (I'm very bad at that).

What I'd REALLY like to do if I were involved in a Narnia film would be something on the other side of the camera. Being a production designer would be sweeeet candy and turkish delight for me. That or DP (director of photography). I just finished DP work in one of my classes and that was fun. I also think that it would be really fun to adapt the book to the screenplay (until it comes out and half the people rib me for cutting out something or changing something).

GrayCloak~ I thought you were a boy! Hehehe, sorry bout that

My first choice would be (big surprise here) Jadis. Evil minions are so much fun! :D I mean, you can be like, "Minion! Go do my evil biddings!" or "Minion! Get me a danish!" They're the best things ever. Everybody should have some evil minions.

My second choice would be Aravis, though the age/ethnicity difference might be a problem. I like her spunk. It would be fun to play her, because I'd get to be all swashbuckl-y and runaway-y and cool like that.

Like the cheesy photo Rhindon! Personally i see you more as a Peter, but can you do the middle class English accent?

Rhindon
09-23-2004, 09:09 AM
Thanks. Peter was always the one role I wanted to play more than anything in my life. Second was Peter Pan, followed by Fagin from "Oliver!". As for the accent, I'm afraid I can't do it now as I haven't listened to it enough. Though I can actually do quite a few voices and have come close to mastering Billy Boyd's scottish accent. But I have no trouble fooling Americans, that's for sure. But I still think it would be fun to play Caspian as he is my second favorite in the chronicles. If any of you find the casting director's work address, send me a private message.

P.S. One week, I listened to Family Radio Theatre's Chronicles of Narnia radio adaptations which feature entirely British actors (except maybe for Aslan). Then I watched the some of the BBC productions. After a week of british accents, I walked into my father's office and told him I was going to watch a movie. He then commented that I had spoken in an British accent and I hadn't even noticed. I thought it was rather funny.

GrayCloak
09-23-2004, 02:23 PM
LOL!

People are always commenting on my mom's accent (being English) and then ask me if I have one too. I responde of course in my cultured scottish one, and then gradually turn it into Irish if I really want to mess with them!

rosymole
09-28-2004, 05:35 AM
I wouldn't have this problem you see - actually being English is somewhat of an advantage! I don't know how much Brit TV you get to see outside if the UK - what sort of stuff is there? What accents have you been exposed to? The plain old well spoken BBC accent, or a bit of cockney or west country?

Rhindon
09-28-2004, 07:11 AM
Well, I watch a lot of Billy Boyd interviews on the EE of LotR so I can do him pretty well. But I also like some of Michael Caine's films so I've seen some of those. But to answer your other question, we get some British films out here. Two comedies I can think of are Johnny English and Shaun of the Dead. But my favorite British comedy is Michael Caine and Ben Kingsley in "Without a Clue".

But we're getting off topic. Like I said I think it would be fun to play Caspian, Tirian, or any of the other ians. I was pretty excited to hear the rumour that they have started on the script for Prince Caspian and that they definitely plan to make it if the first film is a success.

Peter and Caspian are the two biggest male protagonists. However, if I was young enough, I would give Eustace a shot.

I would like to play a few roles. I never have done too much acting athough I have directed some but....anyway....

I would like to play Miraz. I know he's evil and all but I think it would be fun. Plus, he gets to die, and that is always great. And If I couldn't be Miraz then one of his two lords who plan his demise! Nothing better than to be a cunniving traitor who sticks a blade in the back of the arch vilian!

The other roles I'd like to play would be Caspian's Uncle who stayed at the Lone Islands or theone who got stuck in the Island Where Dreams Come True. The one because you get to act all lordly and the other because you get to be wild eyed and CRAZY!

So those are my preferences.

I'd LURRRRRRRRVE to be in a Narnia movie; I think I am a pretty good actress, lol. I'm from goold 'ol Southern CA but I can fake accents quite beautifully if I am around like accented people enough. (My sister watches a lot of Jane Austin..so I all always talking British.)

I want to be a comic character..someone people laugh at. I can't cry on cue for beans so comic is me.

I would defiantly want to play Peter. He is such a great character, with being the leader and everything. But the part I would probably fit in the most is Puddleglum. I'm tall, my ears stick out (darn ears! :D) and I can be very pessimistic at times. I think I would fit in to the role very nicely.

I couldnt act to save my life, ive had one drama lesson in the past and came away with a fracture in my upper arm!!

Well, i would say Susan, because her character is the closest to how i am myself, but as a guy, i would look pretty stupid in a dress!!

So, im going to go for Peter, mainly because im the eldest in my family and always feel some responsibility for my brother and sister.

Defintely Susan. i'm more like her than any of the other three. when it comes to the kind of situations they endured during the movie..i could see myself freaking out and urging to go back like Susan.

Hmm...well I don't know. I mean I am a girl, but I'm not like that smart and I'm not logicall. I am creative but not nieve so not Lucy, I'm not mean or whatever so I wouldnt be Edmund, and I'm not the eldest of my family and I'm not a guy. But I guess I am brave and responsible. So I would say a mix between al of them. I guess I have multiple personalities, but I am the closest to Peter or Lucy.

I loved the book The Horse and his boy. So I would very like to be Prince Corin. I'm alot like him and have gotten into a couple fist fights myself.

***ARAVIS***
12-30-2005, 12:27 AM
HMMMM.....Aravis, definitely Aravis.....but since I'll probably be 22ish when it's made, Larsaleen would be fun too. I like Aravis because she's so kick butt and cool, but she's human too, she get's jealous and insecure and isn't perfect, it's easy to relate to her. Larsaleen is funny, it would be so fun to play her role. Even though I'm a girl, I think doing the voice of Reepicheep would be fun too.

First of all, I JUST saw the movie (as in 20 minutes ago) and I LOVED IT!!!

So the question was.... Who would I want to act as?
(I would take any part but here are my preferences) :

1. Susan. (Check the name!) First of all, all of my friends who've seen the movie say that I look EXACTLY like her. Second, I've done a couple theatre productions and those same people said that I could have played her. Plus I just love her character.

2. Jadis (White Witch). Well, I don't think that it would work because i'm NOT that tall and I'm not that evil. Not yet, anyway. (JKLOL :D) But I love the part that she plays. It be pretty cool.

Anyway Got2Go!

acctually I always play guys, the directors dont seem to be able to play me as anybody else (except this coming play I am in I am one of the daughters) but anyway If I could pick who I wanted to be I would want to be Reepicheep or Trumpkin, or The Girl in The Horse And His Boy, I forget her name but I love her!!!But I really wouldnt mind being just about anybody

I don't think any part suits me, but I think i've already answered that Susan would be the best in LWW just because I'm her age. Well I think in the book I am, Im 14. But yeah I have ben in 5/6 of my middle school plays I couldn't do one because I had soccer but I've had the lead to 2 of the plays, (my drama teacher mixed the parts up and if you got a big part in one play, you got a relatively small part in the next play. I guess its good but in a sense it isnt )

#1~ Jill Pole :)
#2~Aravis
#3~Hwin
#4~Ramandu's Daughter

I would be most likely to get #4 'cause of my age.(I'm 16)
And I'm probably to tall to be Jill or Aravis. (I'm 5' 8.5")
But Hwin is a possibility. :)

Mr. Beaver, definitely. His is a truly great role, especially his wonderful, pure faith in Aslan. He gets many great lines... Aslan is on the move. He's not a tame lion, but he's good. There is no need to look for your brother, I know exactly where he is....

As for Mr. Tumnus, I look rather more like him, at least from the waist up, but I'd look rather silly without a shirt on. :D

I would want to play Susan for sure. She's so logical and sensible, and kind of wants it all realistic, and that's exactly how I am. It has to be proven...but Susan would be so fun to play, because she's kind of in the background throughout the story, yet she has that great scene with Alsan and Lucy that would be incredible to act out...

But Jadis would be incredible as well. The Evilness...the Horror...the pure Wickedness...

I think i could relate to susan the most seeing as i have an older sister and a younger sister. She is exoected to be next in line, sensible, etc. yet has to relae to her younger sister aswell. Like the bit where she is splashing water with lucy, and then she is agreeing with peter, so really she has to be a bit of both.

I would love to be the Lady of the Green Kurtle and the Stars' daughter in the VoDT.

I think they would both be fun to play because they are both drop dead gorgeous. The Lady of the Kurtle would be fun because she is so sly and evil and beautiful and everything that I would never want to be rolled into one. So I could be someone that I would never be and that would be fun. I would want to play Susan. Growing up, I used to play Narnia with my cousins. My younger cousin Julie always wanted to be Lucy, so it worked out. If we could get two of other cousins (the four of us were all in the same age group, all born within a 2 year frame), they were both boys and one would be Peter and the other Edmund. So needless to say, Susan has always been a part of me. Also, I was a lot like her, the oldest and I was forever being told to look out for the others and to be a grown up, even when I was young. So I would have to choose Susan because I can relate so much to her.

I have not yet finished the series though I am almost done with "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" so there might be others I have yet to meet, but so far, for a second choice (if I was younger, mind you) I would choose Jill.

although i don't think i can act,my older sis is going to be an actress and i would like to follow in her footsteps. But that would be quite hard to do because i'm kinda shy.Anywho enough talk about me.I think i would like to play Aravis[i think thats her name].Because I luvd the "The Horse and His Boy"
Since i have very dark brown hair and dark brown eyes Aravis would probably be the only one i look the least bit like.

I LOVE acting, that would be like my dream...Jill is my first choice, then Susan, then...Aravis, but I probably dont look the part for her

I would have loved to be Mr. Tumnus... although... I'm a girl, so that wouldn't work... so scratch that! Mrs. Beaver would be fun to play, except for the fact that I'm 15 and don't sound that old. So, hmmm... A minataur would be fun (I can't spell) although very hot...

oh if I had to shoot a bow I'd miss the target so bad!!

Susan was well cast, and she is an excellent character (tries to "be grown up" and all) but since she loses faith, I wouldn't want to be her.
Aravis would be a very fun role for me. if I were blond I might say Caspian's wife (the star's daughter). But I'm not blond......so....yeah.
I would love to be a centaur, too!! Or Jewell's voice in the Last Battle. Jewell is so loyal and loving.....but isn't he a guy? I'll have to go grab the book off the shelf...

I would want to play Lucy, but I'm too old. Actually I'm probably the perfect age to play Susan.

This is where people of color seriously lose out LOL. I suppose it wouldn't matter what color you are if you wear a lot of makeup in this movie or a costume. ;)

I'd want to be Lucy all the way!! She is so innocent and trusting, but at the same time she just captures the true essence of the books for me.
