He has a wife? D'oh! I just haven't read that book yet for a while, might've forgotten, LOL. That's just weird because I didn't even notice that he did. Hmmm...I wonder...

He has to have, because in the Silver Chair he has a son.

I think they mention somewhere in PC that he is "ready for marriage" or something like that.

Yah, why does she NOT have a name! Always someone's daughter, wife or mother! I mean come on! She should at least get some kind of name!

i've always imagined ramandu's daughter as blonde and wearing a blue dress....

Actually, in the VDT, it says that she did have blonde hair, and a blue dress, so that's probably where you got it from.

"Now they could see that it was a tall girl, dressed in a single long garment of clear blue... and her yellow hair hung down her back." (ch. 13)

i had the blonde hair blue dress thing in my head when it said about her coming out of the hill because i istantly imagined her as a witch and somehow put her with blonde hair...then for some reason she went ginger.... :o

I wonder who her mother was - another star?

I always wondered that myself. :) And if so, where's her mum now? As Ramandu appears to be in a state of reversing retirement.

It really peeves me off that she doesn't have her own name! Besides being Mrs. Caspian, Ms. Ramadu's daughter and Rillian's Mom! I mean come on! Does it bug you??

Also I have a picture of someone who would/could be no name wife/mom/daughter. Send me an email at emilykkeyes@hotmail.com if you wanna pic. ;)

Perhaps it's not given to a Daughter of Eve to know the name of a Star's Daughter, that, as Aslan would tell you, is her own story....

We should just give her a name, if it makes you all happy. And then we spread the good news, and someone with connections in Walden Media gives them the name we come up with. Now, what do you name a beautiful girl who is part Star?

I imagine her name beginning with an R for some reason, maybe because her dad's name starts with R and so does her son's. But it isn't a normal 'R' name like Rachel or Rebecca. More like....ummmmm....let me think about it. I will come up with something!! But if you wanna help, go ahead!! ;)

THINGS THAT STARS ARE:
Radiant, bright, beautiful, elegant, dainty, cute, sparkly, twinkle-ish, balls of gas, fire, flaming, very hot, very far away, distanced, dazzling, celestial body,

 Now, how does one incorporate those into a name???

Asteria (coincidentally, a type of starfish!!)
Celestria

Does anyone know what 'STAR' is in another language? Would it make a decent Narnian name for Caspian's wife?

Phils Girl

Caspian dosen't get married until The Voyage of the DAWN Treader

Why not call her Rigel, since that's pretty, is a star name, and starts with "R" ...

How do you pronounce it? Like Rye-gel, or ree-gull or Rig-gull?

However you pronounce it, it is a pretty name!!! You are more creative than I am!! And it starts with R!! I like the name. Let me know how to pronounce it!!

u guys, why does she even need a name (i mean it's bad enough that L.W.W. drifted from lewis's work, but it was still very (very) good). lewis didn't give her a name so that's how we, the fans of his lifes work, should keep it.

well to get this thread back on topic, i think that kiera knightly should play ramidus daughter. she's beautiful enough. and i always imagined her to be tall with brownish-red hair and wearing a long silk (silver or white) gown!

no need to thank me!

drummer_girl
02-13-2006, 11:20 PM
I agree; Kiera Knightley is gorgeous, but it seems that A.A. chooses new, un-famous actors. And she would be pretty, but blond is star-like. I personally love brunettes (you can guess why :o ) and think Kiera is pretty, but blond seems to be the best fit......:(

There really isn't an evil lady in this movie, is there? Besides Caspian's aunt, I mean. His uncle seems to be the main villain, along with that dwarf whose name I cannot remember. I wonder....will Tilda be back for the Magician's Nephew or the Silver Chair?

Are there any other blond actresses who could play the star's daughter? I like the idea of Rigel having a name. If you want her to not have a name, then that is totally up to you. But some of us have a hard time picturing someone without a name...especailly if they are going to be drop-dead gorgeous in a movie. She needs a name. Read between the lines. Name her. And even if the name isn't world-famous and recognized as her official name then I will still think of her as Rigel. ;)

Umm, wow. Why must this part limited to blondes again? You know, there is such a thing called hair dye these days.

Rigel is an excellent name for Ramandu's daughter, well-done, Chakal. And I Want a Faun is correct: any willowy actress can be made blonde. (Look at Orly in LOTR!) She needs to be young and beautiful, and kind of shine.

NarnianPrincess
03-07-2006, 09:25 PM
I think I would like it better if they kept getting unknowns. Rigel is a pretty name! I could play her if it weren't for the being beautiful part! :o :D And I lost a lot of respect for Kira a few weeks ago. She couldn't play his wife in my opinion!

Malacandra

You want to call her "foot"? (http://www.astro.uiuc.edu/~kaler/sow/rigel.html)

Its name comes from the same root as Betelgeuse's, originally "rijl Al-jauza," meaning the "foot" of al-jauza, the Arabs "Central One."

'Sides, the stars of Narnia weren't like the stars of Earth - in that "pocket reality" they seem to have been more like angels (only, y'know, without all that business about neither marrying nor being given in marriage, evidently).

And you may take it from me that I know about stars :D

Rigel sounds a bit boyish for a girl's name... Anyway, is there no official sources to find this lady's canon name?

Kiera is way too wellknown and I really don't like her that much. in some of her movies she is a bit of a well just not cool with her wardrobe and that really bothers me. I think that Lewis would not want her in it if he were still alive and so I stick to the fact of unknowns. I wanted to play her but I am a bit over weight so that wouldn't work fery wel...oh and I am not stunningly beautiful.;)

Take it up with Jack Lewis!

A better thing to do would be to take it up with Douglas Gresham, Jack's Stepson.
Lol

PrinceOfTheWest
06-07-2006, 04:13 PM
Yeah, well, he might be good for a discussion, but he couldn't do anything to change things. I don't think Lewis left any hints as to her name - though they'd certainly want to come up with one for the movie.

ABright5

He couldn't change stuff, but if Jack left something about what names he was thinking about in his manuscripts, Douglas would be the best person to ask.

Yes, I think she should be blonde. I am a blonde, so I would really love to play her. I wish I could try out for her part and get an agent. That would be the day! :D (Begins dreaming of a life as an actress)

Really random but my friend abbyluvswilliam is always saying i should be her even though I never would want to. I was thinking someone like Cate Blanchett only younger. Someone angelic looking cuz she is the daughter of a star

i personally like the idea of naming Ramadu's Daughter but I prefer names like Estella (frech for star) or Austrelia (pronounced aus-trey-ya) which is star in another language (i think it is Latin).

i think sherri dupree from eisley is pretty. she's probably too old, but i think she looks younger...but i doubt she's tall enough...and she needs longer hair (but it's not like it won't grow...and they have hair extensions these days anyway).

http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/8594/sherricx3.png

the main reason is suggest her, though, is her voice. the book says ramandu and is daughter sing a "high, almost shrill, but very beautiful, cold kind of song, an early morning kind of song." here's an eisley video (http://youtube.com/watch?v=qtUKdzbtHhE) so you can see her better and hear her singing. that video's kind of weird though...
