I am a little angry. I'm not sure if I should laugh my head off or write a very, very boiling e-mail.
The stupidy of it all.

I wouldn't stress too much over these. It is the muddled, dogmatic Christians who feel this way. Most mainstream denominations either regard Lewis as orthodox, or do not regard him at all. Very few take pains to do him in.
Simple fact is, if Christ had waited until this generation to be incarnate, they'd probably have something bad to say about Him too. Something like, "Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath?!?!"

Okay, I'm not a "grown-up" so what you wrote didn't really "click in". Do you mean that the Christians are mad on the writers of the stuff, or that the writers are Christians?? xP

Bravo, well said. This is now my official opinion of the article (if you don't mind me borrowing it ;))

The writers are Christians who take the Bible so literally that they cannot see "Christian fiction" as anything except a "lie" because it calls Jesus "Aslan" instead of "Jesus." See, CS Lewis did not want to make up a new God called "Aslan," he wanted to imagine a world where Jesus was the lion Aslan, but some very conservative Christians think that is wrong, that it is somehow offensive to Jesus to suggest he might have appeared in another form in another world ... especially in a world with magic and myth. It's silly, but it's a blindspot for some Christians. It's sad.

Articles like this make me angry. I have no problem if someone has concern about Narnia or Lewis, think somethings are wrong or don't like things in it. I do have a problem with people who are angry, won't listen to others opinion, manipulate words and flat out lie. Which is bassically what this guy did. Claiming you are a Christian does not entitle you to be a jerk, and lie while being a jerk at the same time. It's a fictionial book, not the bible. And with what he said about Lewis' wife, about her being divorced, I read online that her husband was an alcoholic who left her for someone else. I'm not sure if thats true, but if it is, then this guy has really got me mad.

so what if Lewis' wife was divorced? does it matter? I know three people who are divorced and they all had good reasons for leaving their husbands!!!

"It did not come by sudden intuition, or overwhelming vision, or even by the more usual path of conviction of sin calling for repentance and atonement. It came by taking thought and it added many cubits to his stature.
Those were his friends words not his!!!So what I dont think that my rebirth came thourgh "sudden intuition" either!!!
While many of us have been deceived by this man's apparent spiritual insight, he actually believed many doctrines of devils and by the end of his life was rapidly embracing Roman Catholicism. Indeed, he may have been a Catholic for some time before his death.
Horror of horrors!!!he was Roman Catholic!!!oh dear!!!.....My grandmother is Roman Catholic!!! And I am postive she is going to heaven! She is one of the best Chrisatians I know!!! My Grandpa was also Roman Catholic and he wasnt a rash person, I know he is in heaven!!
Williams, a professing Christian, was especially close to him and taught Lewis the "white witchcraft" delusion of being able to take someone's pain for them and suffer it in one's own body
Where did they get this information?? I personally will not believe this unless a very trustworthy person tells me it be so!! Also all the elders in my church like the COFN ok, and of course they arent perfect and dont know everything, but you dont become an elder by smiles!! I mean my dad is firmly based in scripture!! I dont think he would like something that was as 'unchristain' as the chronicles of narnia!

That article is horrible. That was definitely written by some extremely conservative, legalistic christian. There is nothing wrong with being conservative.....I'm probably the most conservative person I know (other than my mom! lol)
But I've been around the legalism and it stinks. We (my family) went to a church when I was younger that taught and lived by legalism. That is why we ended up leaving. Those people have some serious problems! And this sounds like something that would come from someone with the mindset of legalism.
It's sad, just sad. :(

This happens when we put all of ourselves into the bible and not to whom it really counts! If you sit and pick at it long enough you can twist it to your advantage. We have many different sects of christianity and i believe that catholics are included. What does God ask us to do? Know him and be born again. The statement was very maddening mostly because the only way we will ever know if it is even true is when we go to heaven ourselves! CS may have known Him in his heart and that is all that really matters.

I couldn't stomach more than the first paragraph of that ridiculous article. Inkspot put it well, unfortunately some Christians have a hard time looking past the surface and finding the truth within. And as far as divorce goes and Joy Gresham, the Bible actually provides a reason for divorce. Its in Matthew.
