Okay, yesterday I watched the BBC Silver Chair (i have it on tape from 92) and I was like shocked! I haven't seen it in years. The beginning was fine, but when Eustace fell down that cliff, I went, "did they really had such bad effects?", and so it contuined... Aslan looked like a clothes dott or something... :p I'm really really sorry if im offending anyone... :o I just got a little taked aback xP
And why did Jill had to yell al the time? It was a horrible screaming.

Ya, the effects were pretty bad back then. I remember watching LWW and thinking "Can you make the effects any worse?"
BTW, iMove to a place where this will be more appreciated

hey i am new here and i do agree with you about the effects
but i don't think jill screamed that much!
in fact, the only problem i had with the BBC silver chair was puddleglum
he was all wrong, to round, not green enough and too peach  , the actor was fine but the makeup was not quite right, if they had done the make up better the guy would have been great :o

*le sigh* I wonder when the bashing will end. Yes, the series took place 20 years ago...the special effects were not like they are now, but it was extremely faithful to the books, and to me, that outweighs the other stuff.
As for Puddleglum, his make-up didn't bother me at all. I thought they did an excellent job--especially the actor. Jill didn't scream that much IMO.

She yelled when it was "time" to yell, but it was so high-pitched and going through my ear drums really badly, and my ear drums are really bad, they hurt(they've cracked twice..). I might've heard it different xP

hey narnian lady i agree with you
they were faithfull to the books
out of the boxed set the silver chair is my favorite
as for puddleglum's makeup you are right, the quality of the acting job made up for it in the end :) I just like things to look right thats all

They were not made 20 years ago. Closer to 15 years ago.
They are just so corny. Being faithful to a book doesnt make a good movie. I like a movie which is aesthetically pleasing as well as true to the story. The new LWW is very true to the book yet is a lot better in the effects/picture/acting department. The BBC just doesnt have the magic that the new one has because its just like "wow...i could make a movie just as good 10-15 years ago". The new one just seems more magical because it is just like "Wow! I want to be in narnia".
I just think the corniness of the BBC version overpowers every other part of it. Most of the cast wasnt cast very well (I liked Eustace and the older Caspian and I havent seen the silver chair yet)

The Silver chair special effects are pretty bad but I think it's the best of the BBC videos. Jill looks like I think she would and Puddleglum is almost exactlly what I think he would look and act like.

Keep in mind this was produced as people were just starting to dream up CGI, and what was possible with computers didn't look all that realistic and was terribly expensive to produce. In retrospect (and especially in light of the new movie) the whole BBC series does seem a bit low end, but I loved it when it came out and there is still a place in my heart for it now.

hey glad to see that theres another puddleglum fan here
i agree with you that the silver chair was the best out of all three movies
however, i think puddleglum could have been done alittle better, i couldn't tell at first that he had webbed feet and he was more peach then green
by the way, how did you make that banner?

yes, i will agree with you THE LION, THE WHICH AND THE WORDROBE was bad and it, and ONLY it should be banned the others, though they had their quarks of their own, where quite exceptional for the times

*sighs* Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but is there a good reason for this needless bashing of these films? You like the new movie? Fantastic. Please give the BBC bashing a rest and give those who still enjoy watching the BBC version a break.

I actually have to admit I still love the BBC films even though they are pretty basic for the time when they were created. But still, it has character to it. And come on you gotta love Puddleglum in the Silver chair, the actor 'Tom Baker' who plays him I think is fantastic.

you know what, you are my new favorite person on this forum, Backer was AWSOME especially when he acted drunk in the Castle and started messing up his words, i don't know any other actor who could have done that :D
