I know many people love this movie, but i was wondering whether anyone would consider this movie to be the greatest movie of all time. I'd be interested to know.

I am still battling this thought out in my head. It really is between LOTR and Narnia for me, and both are so good i can't decide which one is better!

I certainly do, i have always loved fantasy movies as well as books, i loved the Lord of the Rings movies and i am a huge huge Harry Potter fan as well, its very hard to pick a favourite movie because i like so many for different reasons, so its just a sign of how much i like this movie.

The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe was one of the first books i have ever read, its something that i grew up with as a child and i thought they did a fantastic job in turning into a movie and staying true to the books as well, i loved everything about it so yes, i would consider it my favourite movie of all time, its close though.

You just described me. Anyways, we are very alike lol. I agree that my favourite movies are Narnia, LOTR, and Harry Potter. It really is very hard to decide. I'll have to watch Narnia again in the cinemas hehehe, now i have an excuse :p without sounding obsessed to my family.

honestly I told you that narnia wasn't the best movie.
actually MANY OTHERS film were better than narnia LWW.

but I agreed that narnia was one of the best family film in 2005, beside Harry Potter #4. this film was very amused, although it had so many
"magic" beyond our logic.

I hope they will make another narnia film. I'm so willing about that

LWW is my favorite. As others have mentioned already, it's more of a sentimental reason than anything. If you look at just the technical aspects then there are other movies that are more advanced and would be considered better. But LWW was the first book I really read as well. It was the book that catapulted me into the reading and collecting books freak that I am today. It holds a special place in my heart so seeing on the big screen like this now makes this movie my favorite for sure. (wizard of oz is a very close second though.....I'm also an avid collector of WOZ!!)

I Do! 'The Chronicles of Narnia~ The Lion, the Which, and the Wardrobe'
Is THE best movie EVER made. And my personal favorite. :)
The Cast, the crew, everyone did an amazing job! And the score (which I'm listening to right now :D ) was wonderful! It's up for a Golden Globe, and I really hope it wins it!

THANK YOU, ANDREW ADAMSON!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know if this is my favourite movie. I don't think so. It is one of the best movies I've seen in my life, but there are other movies that I love too. My fav is Lord of the Rings. But I love movies like Cinema Paradiso and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (only that of HP, the other 3 have been a mess at least for me)

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was an excellent movie, and deserves to win every award it is nominated for. I think it was one of the greatest adaptations of the last years. The music was awesome, the cinematography just took my breath away. The children did, indeed, look like a true family. The direction was wonderful, the visuals were marvelous, and the rest of the cast was terrific.

As I said, not my favourite movie, but it is close.

Narnia is easily my favorite movie. I ussually don't watch a movie until it's been in the theatures for quite some time. But for this one, I saw it opening day and then 2 additional times. I really loved it.

In cinematography, when you talk about 'the score' it is actually about the music from the movie. Just in case you don't know, Oscar gives an award for the best score, while the soundtrack of a movie is awarded by MTV and that kind of organizations.

The score is the music made FOR the movie and the soundtrack is more like the music inspired IN the movie. I hope I made it clear.

I love LOTR, but this has to be my favorite movie of all. I've already seen it twice, and it still made me cry. This is one movie I won't tire of watching over and over again. Aslan'sFriend410, I love your avatar. and the text at the bottom, do you know where that's from? It's from Rebecca St. James song, "Lion". I love that song. :)

Yeah, this is totally in my top three movies of all time with star wars and LOTR. I'm actually not quite sure yet where it will stack up with respect to these two when it's all said and done. I have seen star wars and LOTR like 20 times each now, and I've only seen LWW 3 times, so the jury's still out...

I didn't think this was necessarily one of the best movies of 2005. Considering it's based on a pretty slim book, they couldn't really get too in depth or complicated. As it was, they had to add dialogue. Of course, what dialogue they did add, I probably wouldn't be able to point it out if I didn't have LWW memorized, and all the scenes were shot so perfectly that I heard the missing dialogue going on in my head...like Edmund's complaints about a lack of proper roads or railways when he's trudging through the snow to the Witch's castle. And of course, I fell in love when Lucy found the wardrobe room and there was a fly buzzing in the window. I mean, who takes those sorts of details from a book! *is in love* All the special effects were pretty seamless (I was a little worried about how the centaurs would come out). I'm totally planning to buy the DVD as soon as it comes out, but because I love the story so much, not because the movie dazzled me beyond compare.

I think this is one of my favourites movies of all <3. I love fantasy movies and I love adventures. Esp. I like it when anything is not real. That's why I like fantasy. I think this is the second best movie, because GoF is my favourite movie off all. I think nothing can go over Harry Potter movies, but this is so close it now :D

I loved this film. I hadn't read the books when I went to see it, and it was pretty exciting! I was sure this movie would be good, because I saw trailer many times and loved it so much. I can't wait to get those books from library :D

I don't know how I can have so many "favorite movies" but this one is definitely up there! I always LOVED Disney movies I mean c'mon, when you're a little kid and you watch the Little Mermaid, Bambi, Pocahontas, Aladdin, and the Fox and the Hound how can you not fall in love with them? But anyway...Gladiator and Narnia are the ones that I find myself watching (or wanting to watch) over and over again. They're excellent, well-made and memorable. I'm also a fan of the Harry Potter books and the movies are great too. :) As for Lord of the Rings...eh...the only movie that I kind of liked was the second one and I can't seem to make it through the first book. It's much too dull for me and the movies are seem to drag on and on and on heheh sorry...

MrsTumnus

Going back to the first post (and many in between), for me, it's definitely a tie between LotR and LWW. They are the only two movies (or four, if you count the entire LotR trilogy ;)) that I've wanted to see several times in theatres. If I'm willing to spend $11.25/ticket more than once..then it's definitely a favourite. :D

Well, I must admit that The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe comes second for me in 2005. The first one (one I really looked forward to for years) is Revenge of the Sith. As a side note, that movie has also the greatest and effective score of 2005 (you just need to listen to tracks such as Anakin's Betrayal to understand how powerful and dramatic that soundtrack is). But most importantly, Narnia beats Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire to me. It's the first time I don't like a Potter movie. When compared to the book, the movie just leaves some points unsolved, while in the books they've been solved at the end of GoF or in PoA. This is why I watch to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe as a complete movie, the story of which is presented in full, and I watch to The Goblet of Fire asking myself: "What happened to Barty Crouch?", "What is Priori Incantatem?", "Why is Pettigrew called Wormtail?" and so on.

P.S.: I know the answers to all those question. I read the book before seeing the film. But it's not fair that one has to read the book to understand such important plot points of the movie.

Aslan's Beloved Daughter

I am split between LOTR and LWW because both have such great scenes, whether it be battles, adventure, and just right down to the characters, both are so awesome! ( I think I say awesome too much, LOL) :p

PeaseantGirl
01-07-2006, 03:11 PM
Barty Crouch senior was killed by Barty Crouch junior. In the book, B.C. junior was aslo killed. Dementors kiss.

Priori Incantatem is a spell that doesn't need an incantation to work. When two wizards/witches with the exact same wand core as the other try to place a harmful spell on the other, and say the incantations at the same time, their wands are connected somehow.

Peter Pettigrew is called Wormtail because he can turn himself into a rat, and they are comparing his rat tail to a worm.

If you read the book, it will all make sense.

on another note, sukapesta, we seem to have alot in common!! TIM BURTON ROCKS!!! I think my favourtie movie by him is The Nightmare Before Christmas. I am in love with Danny Elfman's (Jack Skelleingtion) voice! I could listen to him sing all day....

Thank you for making this clear, but as I wrote in the P.S., when I saw the movie for the first time I already knew those answers, because I had read the book before. You said it yourself, to fully understand this movie, you've got to read the book. If some information needed by the plot isn't made clear by a movie, then the adaptation of the story (the adaptation, not the acting or the directing or the FX or the music or what else) is not good. That's what I'm saying.

Yes. I watched the movie a day ago (late because I was on holiday).
This is one of the best Fantasy (/action) I have watched.
I am a huge fan of Harry Potter too, but I still have to say,
LWW is better than the HP movies.

It is a bit unfair to compare them with LOTR, because that was much more heavier and Narnia is lighter to read. And it is also a complete different story.

LOTR is on top of my list by far. But Narnia is second. Maybe because Tolkien and Lewis were close friends? :D
When it comes to 2005 I think Narnia is the best movie. HP is cool too, but I love Narnia much more.

I guess as far as my favorite movies go:

1) Chronicles of Narnia - It's more than just the simple fact that I remember reading these books when I was younger and have grown up remebering and enjoying the story for many years now, but overall in terms of direction, visual effects, and overall movie quality CoN is my favorite.

2) Star Wars Saga - These are more than just six great movies, the whole Star Wars Universe and its rich history that spans over 4500 years.

3) Lord of the Rings (three way tie for all movies) - There is way to much to say about this Saga! The direction was excellent, the costumes and armor were excellent, and Gollum/Smeagol was awesome to watch.

4) Gladiator - an excellent story combined with some of the best acting, costumes and sets that have ever been filmed.

5) Batman Begins - Superhero movie meets pyschological thriller in a true revivial of what the Batman series is all about.

...anyway that's enough for now.... :-D

Well, I must examine the evidence...

the only movies that I've seen more than once in theatres are "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" "Star Wars Ep. III" "Passion of the Christ" and Narnia....

Of those four....I saw HPATGOF four times, walked out early on the fourth, and am waiting for the DVD.

I saw Star Wars four times, and still haven't felt an urge to get the DVD.

I believe I saw Passion of the Christ five times, and I have the DVD, but srangely I haven't watched it in ages because of the intensity.

I saw Narnia 12 times. I might see it again before it's out of theatres here (where it is still getting around 50 to 100 viewers a day). And I'm going to buy the special edition DVD.

Hehehehe...

So....it's obvious what my favorite movie is....

I honestly, whole-heartedly believe this movie is the most amazing, incredible, thrilling, touching movie. Hands down. I can't even begin to explain why I love it so much.

Narnia is the movie of the century!!!

I like HP to, but i was VERY dissapointed, cuz it lost sooo much of the good stuff. It was crack. But i get it high, cause the graveyard scene was very touching! *cryingcrying*
