Note to the Mods: Before you mods decide that this belongs in the thread "The Lefay Fragment" I want to tell you that I considered putting it there but decided not to, lest it drive that thread off-topic. It is not strictly about the supposed early version of MN, in fact is has little to do with it at all.

What think you guys about Mrs. Lefay? Is she meant to be Morgana Lefay (King Arthur's evil half sister)? Is she some how related to Morgana? Was she meant to be part of the Avalon fairies? Is it just coinsidence that Lewis (an avid fan of the Arthurian tales) used that last name for Uncle Andrew's fairy godmother?

My personal pet theory is that she changed her name in a fit of teenage rebellion, thinking she was being clever. (Well, one of my theories. My other one is that she was actually a Lestrange, but that's only when I'm trying for a crossover with the Potterverse.)

I wonder how long part-fairies live?

I'm sure it's not a coincidence Lewis named her Lefay, but I don't know that that suggests to me some sort of connection there. (Well, other than "Hey! Look! Who does this remind you of? RIGHT. An EVIL WITCHY PERSON.") (Since we've just been arguing canon over in the last thread I definitely don't want to get into that here, as we're just posting opinions and there's no...canon really.)

I think she probably is related to Morgana in some way, but she is not the same person or a close relative. I think she was probably a distant descendant, since she does also have some fairy blood. How many fairies are there, after all? It would just be too much of a coincidence for her to not be descended from that line somewhere along the way.

I think the book says there were two others with fairy blood when she was alive? (One was a duchess and one a charwoman, I think.)

Only two still alive in England during Uncle Andrew's time according to Lewis.

LeFay is french for "The Fairy". No doubt when fairies have extramarital affairs they sign in at the front desk "Mr. and Mrs. LeFay". :D

I think that is a likely theory. There could be a bit of room for fan-fiction here. How did she get the box? How much fairy blood did she have? What did she do wrong?
