How large was the force of Old Narnians and of the Telmarine army? The film gives about 1000\7000 according to wikipedia, but I always imagined there were less Old Narnians.

I have no idea. I thought maybe the Old Narnian army was at most 1000, but I thought maybe the Telmarines were like only 5000 cause in the movie the Telmarine army doesn't seem that big

"in the movie the Telmarine army doesn't seem that big"
Only by modern standards, the size of the forces in Prince Caspian actually looked plausable for a quasi ancient/medieval style battle and was less `CGI horde` than most recent films.
In reality the massive LOTR style armies seen in recent fantasy films would be impossible to control by the `word of mouth` communications they would have had to rely on unless you assume the `Dark Lord` is using some sort of mind control over all his troops.
(If you think of it, thats why the good guys win in LOTR.)

Lewis didnt really give much indercation to the size of ether army in the book, only that the Telmareines had more than the Narnians. I think a 1000 to 7000 ratio sounds ok- altoght it possibly flatens the Talmaries a bit.

As far as communication goes, I don't really think that is much of a factor when determining the size of either force. Military units of that era used flags, horns, and drums to communicate manuevers.
