Oh, I was so scared on how they would make him look. He's just perfect, though.

I don't know..... he looks like.... a not Eustace, if that makes any sense. :p I'm sure he'll do fine, he looks annoying enough, but theres just something about him that doesn't seem Eustacy...
But then again, Eustace isn't one of my favorite characters, so it doesn't make THAT much difference to me... :p

aw man! i'm bummed out! I was hoping that Scrubb would be this other kid, Josh Williams, i read that he was in the top ten for the part...

http://www.narniaweb.com/news.asp?id=1354&dl=14467490

no offense, but this new kid looks a bit much like the BBC kid...and he looks annoying, which is good, because thats the character... :( but i just don't think that he looks like an Eustace...and put him next to Caspian, there's gonna be a major clash. Ben Barnes is so much older, and this kid looks so young! but hey, maybe i'll be eating my own words when the movie comes out, becasue he will be perfect! who knows? :)

He looks like he could loose in a fight with Skander and Georgie ( if Georgie were to fight him. She seems to sweet to do that.)

I think he's perfect!! I want to see "Son of Rambow" soooo bad, but it's not playing in theaters near me. If I do catch it, I'll definatly be watching Will and how he acts.

I think he looks like he would be good, but I always imagine him looking a little more like Edmund (i.e. darker hair). But that's one more point for Michael Apted! :D

personally I really liked BBC Eustace. I think he was the best cast out of everyone. The books also say that Eustace is supposed to be Lucy's age so naturally he would be much younger than Caspian. I think this kid really looks the part I just hope he can be the part. Eustace (other than Edmund) is my fave character and I really hope they don't botch him

yea he does look a lot like Eustace!!!! Finally they have someone my age. Everyone's always been older or younger, but it's cool to have someone in the castwho's exactly my age.

He looks like a complete creep, which in this case is a good thing. :) I just imagined Eustace with black hair...

QueenSusanofNarnia

Haha. :) I did imagine him with darker hair, but you never know! I think he'll work out fine. :)
By the way, DaughterofRamandu, where did you get the middle picture of Skandar?

Wow! He looks so Eustace-y! I love it :D I think they could grow his hair and dye it darker, but he'll be fine. I just hope he's a good actor.

EDIT: But Andrew Adamson isn't directing??

He looks like how I picture mean Eustace but not how I pictured nicer Eustace. If that makes any sense at all...

still, there are plenty worse people they could've had play him.

Let's remember Eutace does reform less than half way threw The VDT, and is a good guy in both SC and LB. I always liked Eutase because he reforms and becomes a better person. Eustace was a snob not evil. We were all snobs before we came to Christ. I still fight my snob traits. So now that we have an actor I hope they don't make him into the evil boy. As Edmund said, "You were only an ass, I was a traitor".

Sorry about the language, it is a quote from the book. Boys that age talk that way.:p

The more important thing is that he looks like he could be related to Georgie (the Hair), Skander (the freckles), and Anna (just look at Anna's brother he is in the new Peter Pan). He is awesome for the part in terms of the look. By the way, I think that Lewis says something about fair hair for Eustace I am not sure though.

He does have a resemblance to Georgie.

In the VODT illustrations, Eustace has black hair. Why must they always do the opposite?

In all the excitement over Will and how much he looks the part, nobody has mentioned the line in the article that makes me sort of cringe:

"Peter and Susan don't feature in this story - at least not in the one C.S Lewis wrote."

This seems an ominous hint that they are going to figure out a way to shove Moseley and Popplewell into VDT to milk their fan appeal for all it is worth. Why can't they leave the material alone and just make the movie the way Lewis wrote it?

I just hope the films aren't changed in any way because there's going to be a different director. I mean, look at the Harry Potter films. The first two were great because they were directed by Chris Columbus, but they started going downhill once they started changing the directors. I really hope that doesn't happen to Narnia

I've heard nothing but good things about Michael Apted, so I feel he's a very competent director and should be able to do a great job with the film.

The kid really does look like a Eustace (or Useless as Trumpkin said in SC :P), but I also have always imagined him with darker hair. I hope that Son of Rambow comes out soon to DVD so I can see how well the kid can act.

You've got to be kidding me. The first two were scene for scene the book I will give you that, but that next 3 have been so much better. Prisoner of Azakban is probably one of the best movies of 2004, and its darker. Chris Columbus is a good director but he doesn't know how to make a movie dark. Goblet of Fire was ok, never really cared for the book to begin with. In my opinion the ending is the only thing that matters which is perfect. And then you have Order of the Phoenix which IS better than the book. They cut out all the fluff with Harry complaining and stuff and made it a better movie. Though there was one scene or two I would have liked to see in the movie it was still great. So I honestly believe that next direction can only make Voyage of the Dawn Treader better.

He definitely has the right face, whatever they do with his hair--which should be a bit longer for the movie. He looks like he can play a convincing complainer, but also--like Edmund--play the "good guy" just as well. I just love when the cast begins to be announced! :)

Michael Apted did really great in Amazing Grace. I think I may even like him better than Andrew. He is not going to inject as much of the modern humor that Andrew did into his work.

ACK ACK ACK. Of all the times to be busy and gone!!!! :p Today the internet was being fussy, so I just decided to test it by going to narniafans.com and I couldn't believe what was on the front page! (My brother was a little alarmed when I screamed, LOL.) The weirdest thing was that last night I dreamed about them casting Eustace. And I haven't really been thinking much about Narnia lately. I'm really super excited now!!! I think Will (uh-oh, now there are two Wills) looks great for Eustace. Not, perhaps, exactly as I imagined Eustace, but that doesn't matter. I also couldn't believe how much he looks like Georgie! And at least he's 14, not 17, though I would have preferred 12-13.

Overall, I'm happy!!! *dances* :D

I've been watching the comments about him at several websites. With few exceptions, everyone likes how Will Poulter looks for the role of Eustace. I am totally stoked that he got role.

Can't wait to see you on the big screen, Will Poulter. *nods decisively*

Off topic as it is, I think Michael Apted was a good choice to direct VotDT.

just saw the new announcement and figured I'd add my two narnian cents in...

and all I can say is wow.... he does look... sorta kinda... mean and rat-ish.... I hope he plays the part well :D

Congrats Will, see you in Dawn Treader!

Anyone for Jill or Trinian yet?

i imagined eustace to be a bit older and plumper, but he really has a resemblance to georgie, and he has this "eustacy" look about him so i think he's a perfect fit. can't wait for VDT to come out!

He was always my favorite character, so i thought I could go crazy over the actor who portrayed him. Well, not for looks. i'm not being mean, he's just...not tiny and...not brunnette enough :o but I'd like to see WHAt he's like as a person, that changes everything.

Elentari
06-26-2008, 08:44 PM
He may not even look like that in the movie. :) They may "do things" like change his hair...Didn't they have Georgie cut her hair for LWW?

Plus when he's in his "Eustace" clothes he'll look different too...Does alyone else picture him in sweaters like the book illustrations (dark shorts, white collared shirts, with a sweater over top)? He could probably even do a pull over sweater vest or something... ;)

~Lava~
06-27-2008, 10:53 AM
With that short cut in the picture, it is really hard to tell the real color of his hair anyways, with more hair, it may look darker. At any rate, people are going to look at him and not have a problem believing that he is Ed and Lu's (especially Lucy's) cousin. He also looks similar to Freddie Popplewellhttp://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://gfx.casperworld.com/stars/fpo.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.casperworld.com/gallery-99-726.html&h=90&w=86&sz=6&hl=en&start=12&um=1&tbnid=wjyb-7CJdHGcPM:&tbnh=78&tbnw=75&prev=/images%3Fq%3DFreddie%2BPopplewell%26um%3D1%26hl%3D en%26rls%3DHPIA,HPIA:2006-02,HPIA:en%26sa%3DX

Welcome, Terbidoodles. I did not see you post before. I never thought of Eustace as plump but I agree with you that Will (Poulter) looks like an excellent choice for Eustace!

Hopefully with no King Peter in VDT, we will not be too confused by there being two Wills!

I just saw some of his comedy skits on youtube (mainly the School fo Comedy), a clip of the Son of Ranbow movie, and seen an interview of his. I must say that I'm looking forward to this even more now that I've seen him act some. He's good! I think he'll be great. He seems like a sweet kid too, so I think he'll be able to pull off the "non-bratty" Eustace rather well, so I'm not too worried about that anymore.

I really don't think that he should be playing Eustace because he doesn't look like the changed Eustace after his encounter with Aslan. He looks the part as the selfish, arrogant Eustace before being changed into a dragon but it just seems to me that he would still look selfish, arrogant even after his experience with Aslan.
