It appears that Voyage of the Dawn Treader may have just been pushed a year back. The word comes from Box Office Mojo, and is followed up by ComingSoon.net. We've just received confirmation.

It makes sence though, they are pushing Narnia too fast any ways. And really once 2007 is over and 08 comes on 2010 won't seem that far away. And don't we all still have to wait for Narnia? I will...might have my liences and I can drive my friends and I to see it :p HEY! There is an up side to it hehe. But then I graduate in 2011...so...ya

WOW!!! Man, that's gonna be sad. Are they going to start filming it right away and then hold off on the release or are they going to film much later?

I hope they are going to take their time and come up with a really great script and let the actors have a bit of down time, so the film won't suffering from that hurry-up/push-through thing that PotC At World's End suffered from ...

It still really stinks that we have to wait again.

I hope with this time extension they get rid of Marcus and McFeely. I don't mean to be rude or mean to them and don't dislike them as people because I don't know them, but their script writing skills leave so much to be desired that it's pathetic in my book. So, I hope if they're going to push things back that they will choose to do things right. I'd hate for the films to be made with the wonderful effects, costumes, cast, etc and still have me end up preferring the BBC films because the BBC got the script right. The story is what I care about so we'll have to wait and see.

Interesting! Since you hob-nob with the film-makers, you should mention this to them, Jules. Did you dislike the LWW script?

Very much so inkspot, for many reasons. Look at the character of Peter for instance...Peter is supposed to be a boy/man of honor. It's pretty up front in the books throughout the CoN...I mean look at Emeth's response in LB in Aslan's country when they met. It was set up throughout the Chronicles this was set up. Peter was a leader. When they decided to stay and help Tumnus he decided to do what was right because it was right. Sure in the Walden film they had him as the warrior knight. But throughout the beginning of the film he was this wimpy character who wanted to go home and was whining about everything. I understand what they were trying to get across, but they greatly betrayed the character of Peter and it had nothing to do with William's acting. There were the lines done in a cheezy way like, "We have come to see Aslan" with sword drawn...which couldn't have looked more akward if they tried. Then there were the screaming matches with Peter and Susan...not characteristic of Susan so much, but easily overlooked. I could go on and on but I won't. I thought it was lacking and that the BBC script was better even though the production value of those films were pathetic.

Now with Caspian...he's supposed to be some young guy who has heard about the kings and queens of old and been one who stood in awe of them. Now we hear that he's supposed to be this arrogant, cockey prince who easily fights with Peter. In the books that character looked at Peter like he'd just met his favorite celebrity. Caspian in the books had a great amount of humility which led to wisdom. The one we're hearing about seems to find stupidity and problems with the Pevensie rulers. Also, the Pevensies were supposed to sort of come in and save the day...and now we hear about some raid to save someone that went amiss that the Pevensies were involved in...I think not! Susan's character is betrayed a bit with her fighting with a sword in the battles, not because it's wrong for girls to fight, but it's against who the character was. I can't help but wonder if they fell in love with what Anna could do and how dynamic she is, and she is wonderful, but that they lost the actual character of Susan in it all. We'll have to wait and see, but I'm greatly skeptical about it.

I will always love the BBC because they stuck to the books. They stuck to the dialoge and the chivalry, the life lessons, the goodness...none of that was lost. In the Walden/Disney films I have to seem to work hard to find what bits of it are there. All the great sets, cast, effects, costumes, and the like can't make up for that. Not to me. I grew up on those stories and they hold a lot of lessons and goodness that I fear will be lost. I hope that when doing VDT they will think long and hard. I heard Marcus and McFeely were writing VDT without the help of Andrew...and to me that is a frightening thought. VDT is my favorite.

Don't get me wrong I have the utmost respect and admiration for those doing the films, but this is my one big problem. The characters are being lost in the script. The minor changes are changing who they are and how people will respond to them in future films if they want continuity. It makes me sad. If this problem gets worse as they make future films I'll watch them when they come out, but I'll hold onto my BBC ones as the ones I watch when I want to see Narnia. It's pretty clear in those. Either that or I'll just curl up with the book which is the best.

I don't have that kind of pull, and they don't care about what I think as far as the crew goes. I like to be positive, but this is my main issue. I've read threads on other forums and have seen a concensus on the removal for the script writers. May they be blessed, but preferably replaced with people who love the books more and intend to stay true to the characters and events in the books. I'm sure they love the books, but not enough to stay true to them. Personally I want to see Narnia...not a fanfiction based on it.
