1. Okay, I thought Tumnus was a bit of a joke to begin with, but let's not dwell on that.
2. "And actually, I'm tallest in my class!" Need I say more? Okay, Henley rocked, but puh-leez! What the heck is wrong with the screenwriters? Trying to make it all modern and cool??? It's terrible! If they tried and succeeded, it would be different, but it doesn't work at all, especially with this story in particular.
3. When Tumnus is like, "Hey, kid, come to my house! I have cake... Don't you like cake? C'mon...", Lucy says a LOT of junk about, "But I should go back... My siblings will wonder where I am...". It's too much like he's going to umm... do something not so nice to her, y'know??? And the camera angles make it seem like you're watching "CSI: Narnia".
4. The retarded elctric piano music when she says yes and they walk to his house!!! Ooooh! CSL is writhing in his grave! How awful! At least the BBC version stuck with traditional instruments.
5. The fire things. Okay, uber-cool idea, but why the intense, weird, heart-attack music crescendo and dragon thing??? That went a bit over the top. I liked the lullaby though.
6. Tumnus in the fetal position after the nap Lucy had. He bawls like a kindergartner! How naive! Then he does his "I'm a bad faun thing like it's a joke! Tilda Swinton was sincere, even if it was a kid's movie! James McAvoy, on the other hand....
7. When Lucy gets back, Peter's comment about "Susan's right, Lucy. That's enough." was so mean, to begin with. It was also overdramatic and uncharacteristic of Peter. The line worked fine the first time when Susan used it because that's what she would say, but Peter? IDK... (William Moseley was the weakest of the four.)

I'm assuming your refering to aslan as the dragon.. Or was there a dragon.. But, Aslan's roar thing and the music was away of climaxing the moment as Aslan knew what was going on and stepped in magically and influenced the flames to say. HEY TUMNUS! I'M WATCHING, DON'T HURT HER.. Tumnus got scared and freaked out.

As for the other stuff.. Well..It's your take on the film.. This should serve for anyone else who reads the statements of McMonkey and any other statements like his, that not everyone is going to like what they see on the screen. It's not going to appeal to everyone. Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy some of those parts McMonkey.

But, overall how did you like the movie?

I agree with you on what you said about the screenplay. The writers messed with the time period, and as they cut dialoge and added more, they lost all the sweet phrases that the children say. It made me sad, because all the modern stuff they added ruined the whole story.

I actually think that Susan was the weakest of the childeren...she was too doubtfull, too sensible, and she never really believed. William Mosely almost tied with Anne Popplwell on being the weakest though. They were ok actors, but their characters were shallow.

Yes Tilda was sincere, and put on an outstanding proformance, but James Mcavoy was the one person that made it feel like Narnia! He was even more amzing than Tilda! At the moment where Lucy meets him, I thought for sure that I would actually enter Narnia and see the magic as it is supposed to be! unfortunately it never got that far. I was dissapointed with the story, but impressed with the effects. My disapointment however outwieghs the effects.

I TOTALLY DISAGREE!

I thought the 'I'm the tallest' was a great added line, it didn't detract from the movie... it was almost like Lucy was establishing her independence... very well done...

McAvoy and Swinton both were outstanding... I do admit a little more tears on the part of McAvoy would have been more true to the story, but that whole scene with the fire and the lullaby was well done and exciting, (when viewed as a whole.)

Yes... Popplewell and Moseley weren't the best of the four... but better by far than any other child actor I know of.

I didn't like how the only action role that Susan had AT ALL was when she shot the arrow into the Witches dwarf.

It wasn't timed right, and every time I've gone to see the movie people laugh. I don't know, I didn't think it was supposed to be a funny part, since she is saving her brother, but maybe I was wrong.

Thanks for not flipping out, guys! I saw how critical that sounded after O posted! :o Anyway, I never got the Aslan roar part thing in the fire. Now, I like it.

BTW, I loved the film. Wonderful.

I laughed at that part both times I saw it. I thought it was funny because he's a little annoying and he's making funny noises right before he gets shot. He also has a bit of a weird shriek when the arrow hits him.

It was a funny line, and I don't disagree with that, it was just more modern. I missed the, "by jove," and stuff like that.

I did like the movie, it was just sort of dissapointing for me, I guess.

I have a few other problems too
I totally agree with like all of yours except 7,
I think that they overdramatized when Lucy finds the Wardrobe, I knew what was going to happen but I was like ok I can tell that my friend who hasnt read the book is expectin way to much. do you understand? I THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE MADE IT SLIGHTLY MORE CASUAL! she sees a wardrobe and goes into it, lands in another world. ok in the movie, its like shes gonna end up in a dragons den or something...i hated that part!!!

Ok, a lot of people have been saying that, but it wasn't him!! The man who played the oompa loompa was Deep Roy, and Ginnabrik was played by Kiran Shah. He was never in Charlie and the Chocolate factory! But he was in Lord of the Rings. He was one of the doubles for one of the hobbits. I think he did Sam... I'm not sure. But no, Deep Roy was the Oompa Loompa. Not Kiran Shah.

i think they made mr. tumnus out to be in love with lucy
just look at the way he asked about her and fell on her and flirted with her
lucy was the only one out of four that found love and that is sad considering that she is the youngest
i like mr. tumnus and i support the romantic relationship of lucy and mr. tumnus

Are you KIDDING me? If there was any love at all, it wasn't romantic. It was like a big brother- little sister thing. But you are right, it's really beautiful and I support it.

I disagree, i thought that the scene was very well done and in fact it is one of my favouirte scenes in the movie. Mr Tumnus had never seen a human before which is why he was so interested to know about Lucy, it was the same the other way about as well, i thought that they both interacted really well.

yup! I laughed when Ginnabrik was shot! He was kind of a funny character... laughing was just natural. I don't like it when they add in their own lines instead of keeping original ones but I don't think it ruined the movie. Overall I was very pleased... imagine how terribly this movie could have been butchered! I was so afraid that it would be a dissapointment but I loved it! I've seen it three times (not four or five only because christmas vacation had to end sometime lol and semester exams don't exactely give me a whole lot of free time). I thought the fire stuff during the lullaby was awsome and very creative! It really gave Narnia it's magic early on! I was a bit dissapointed in how short the kidnapping scene was. I would have rather seen Lucy a little scared rather than "I thought you were my friend", but that line works to and hey, it paved the way for Mr. Tumnus to decide to not kidnap her. I would have drawn out the dark scene a bit more.

For a bit I did have the thought of Mr. Tumnus being a child molester with the whole eyebrow movements. But other than that I thought he was outstanding!

i liked the overall movie, i think they stuff they added and removed made the movie fit perfectl.
And a romance between Mr. Tumnus and Lucy is farfetched, their just friends, and care for each other as brother and sister.

In the book they were just good friends....however in the movie there did seem to be a bit of flirting which got on my nerves.

I am not saying he was trying to get into her stockings....gaaaroooossss! but there did seem to me that there was flirting and it kinda bugged me...!

I agree to a certain extent with you McMonkey. I felt the "I'm tallest in the class line" was a little...corny, perhaps to say the least.

I got to say I thought James McAvoy played the part briliantly. I think he really made Mr Tumnus feel like Mr Tumnus.

I think the line "Actually I'm the tallest in my class" didn't sound quite right. I don't know if it was how she said it or the line itself but there was something amiss.

If people continue to disuss Lucy and Tumnus' relationship in negative, I shall close the thread. We've had problems with this before, but may I just remind people it's a film and any issues should be taken up with Douglas Gresham cos the book is where it all stems from.
