View Full Version : LWW DVD Release?

Anyone have any inside info or heard any rumors on a DVD release?
I know this is way too early, but curious if anyone has any info?
Personally I would liked to see a lot of extras on the DVD sort of like the LOTR Director's editions DVD's
(I know that the theater release has to make money before it goes to DVD)
anyone want to chime in on what they would like to see on the DVDs when they are released. Maybe some of the powers that be will see some of our suggestions and make it into the extras.
I would love to see an indepth behind the scenes making of LWW, as well as a history of the Chronicles from publication till present day............

I donno about about guessing 6 months after the date of release.. I never notice any patterns in DVD releases from their openings to theatres.. I thought they were actually quite random.. Released on dates that would be the most convient for sales to the distributor.. When movies are released to theatres, distributors take causion as to not to release their films on a date that may corrispond to an opening of a film that may be even greater then theirs.. They want to rake in as much profit as possible, as what I think King Kong is doing.. They waited for Narnia to come out before putting Kong in so they can reek the benifits of the box office for the following weekend since the majority of the people have seen Narnia now... I would persume also that the same would be in jest for the release of Narnia to DVD.. They'll want to wait to see what movies will be released during that time and pick the best spot to let it go on sale so that when people walk into the store to go to the new releases section.. They'll choose Narnia over everything else that was released at the same time... It seems common sence to me. I've seen movies released a month after they left theatres, to upwards to a year.. Did anyone else see Polar Express get released during the summer of 2005? No.. They waited til now during this christmas.. A smart move for the distributor to wait til Christmas.. Or was it.. Only sales stats will tell when everything is said and done.
Now this is all persumtion.. Except for the statement about the theatre release.. DVD release I'm just assuming

I'm asking for the deluxe soundtrack for Christmas, I have the movie companion, a poster in my room, and am really looking forward to the DVD. I have a long time to wait, Sigh. :( My family think I'm obsessed with the movie, my brother keeps teasing me about it.

But my little sister and younger brother have been pulled in too and we've started calling each other "Susan", "Lucy" and "Edmund" haha I guess we're pathetic!

From what I've seen, a highly anticipated movie like Narnia will come out later rather than soon on DVD. Even though Charlie and Chocolate Factory may be out on DVD already, it wasn't nearly as popular (I don't think) as Narnia. They will probably take longer releasing it. However, if they do take a long time, hopefully that means they will be putting on a lot of extra features on the DVD, hence the long wait. ;)

WOW! a want a poster in my room. How much did you guys pay for it?
I got mine on ebay, and I think I paid about $20 or so for the poster plus shipping. Ebay would defineately be your best bet for finding a good high-quality 27x40 poster. Make sure that it is 27x40 though, otherwise you are getting a cheap rip-off like they sell at the big-box retailers. Also make sure that it does not have a large red bar at the bottom, since the press kit posters all have that feature. Finally make sure that the seller is actaully selling a lot of posters and has good feedback for doing so, that means they will be smart and use proper packaging when they ship it.

My guess for the release of the dvd would be right around Easter. That way they could once again push it to the Christian market, because after all it is more of an Easter story than a Christmas story. And that's a little later than the average three month period these days.

There's nothing wrong with being obsessed. As it says in National Treasure, it's passionate not obsessed. Besides, how can you not be "passionate" about a movie that rocked as much as Narnia did? :D

I have read somewhere that they were hoping to get it released in time for Easter, i cant remember where i saw it though.
There is no set period after the cinema release that a movie is released on DVD, it varies from movie to movie, but it is usually within 4 - 6 months.

Whats complicated? There's a full screen and widescreen version. How's that complicated, that's standard. And then there's a special edition, which is the only version you should consider buying anyway.

I think we thought the editions would be more different. like one wouldn't have something another does. That was how it came across to me. Your way makes more sense. I would love if the special edition had a good majority of the cast doing commentary just like LOTR did. Of course I wouldn't be surprised if Disney milks those dvd's just as much as New Line did.

I have the movie companion, soundtrack, game, music inspired by, and the soon the special edition soundtrack. Oh yes I also have the calendar, and I've been looking for posters, but right now all I have are tons of pictures in my room of William Moseley ^_^
And on my ipod, the only thing I listen to is the Narnia music. I'm in love with 3 of the soundtrack songs Evacuating London, To Aslans Camp, but my favorite is The Battle, which I've listened to over 30 times since two days ago XD

They said on www.narniafans.com that the dvd would be released in three versions: widescreen, fullscreen, and a collectible deluxe edition. They said it will be released Easter, which Easter is a Sunday, which means it will probably be either the 17th, Monday, or the 18th, Tuesday. I think that it will be on a Tuesday. Hope this helps. :)

I hadn't read that. I hope the deluxe edition is more than dvd's!! I paid more than $100 for each of the extended editions of LotR (those with the dvd's and collectibles). Those worth it. I hope there's something similar for LWW. The price should be lower, I think, because not everyone is willing to spend those amounts of money. I don't know. I hope it comes out soom. Well... If there will be three editions what we will be looking at is:
(this is all speculative by the way)
1) Full Screen Single Disc Edition - MSRP $19.99
2) Widescreen Single Disc Edition - MSRP $19.99
(these two should sell for $14.99 the week they come out)
3) Two Disc Deluxe Edition (Widescreen Only) MSRP $24.99
(This one should sell for $19.99 - $22.99 the week it comes out)
-Disc One will include the movie and limited special features (a couple of deleted scenes and the teaser and theatrical trailers)
-Disc Two should include the Behind the Magic Features, commentary from the director and cast, making of documentaries, and probably a documentary about the book series and C.S. Lewis and how they went about adapting them.
Movies such as War of the Worlds, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Batman Begins have all been released onto DVD in this format so it would be acceptable to assume that LWW will release in this manner.

Yeah I work for an electronics store and know all of the prices of the DVD's by heart! :D
The pricing is reflective of the pricing on the Batman Begins ,Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Constantine, and The Polar Express DVD releases. There is a more 'bare bones' release that sells for $19.99 (regular price) and then there will be the two disc which is loaded with bonus features that will run $22.99 - $24.99 (regularly). There is no reason to think that LWW will not follow the same trend.
Also a word for all those who are planning on buying the two disc edition:
BUY YOUR COPY EARLY! Two - Disc editions can sell out if the movie is popular enough. (This happened with Batman Begins) Retailers may only carry about 20 copies of a two disc edition.

Mike Snider writes in USA Today online that an extended edition of the Narnia film may be released in the future. The article reads:
"You get a little bit of their perspective," Adamson says. "It’s really fun to see the experience through their eyes." A DVD with an extended version of the film is also in the works, he [Adamson] says.

It comes out the same time as the others i believe Arpil 4th.
I wonder, for deleted scene wise ( are they on the special collectors edition? And i have one question, in the movie poster is shows the three kids climbing up like some cliff thing have any one noticed this?
Rhindon

I noticed that they don't actually quote Andrew Adamson concerning the extended edition. And we know the only scenes trimmed from the movie include the dancing scene, and the burning of the witch's troops.
