I still have five books to read. I am such a slow reader :rolleyes: out of The Magicians Nephew and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe i like the latter best. I'll be voting once i read them all.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader... Unforgetable memories... It inspired me so much... I even wrote a poem that makes me feel all those feelings that I felt back then.

Those images... The waterfall... the sea... sweet the water was...

Oh yes, no doubt. Years might have passed, but the Voyage lies in my heart, bitter sweet its taste...

With respect,

Monkeh

I agree. The Voyage is the best book. But they are all still awesome.

I gotta say TLTWTW as my personal favourite. I tend to remember the BBC series more than the books, being so hooked on that show. Close second comes Voyage definitely.

Last Battle for me please. :D

02-07-2004, 02:48 AM
I voted The Horse and His Boy, but I'm not sure why :unsure: ... I guess because it's the only one where the main characters aren't from our world, so that makes it different and more interesting. And it's about horses!!! ;) Dawn Treader used to be my favorite, but only because I had a crush on Caspian :D I would definitely say that Last Battle is the deepest, though. I had to read the ending several times to understand it, but I still don't :huh:

I'll explain the ending to ya after I re-read it. It's been over 10 years since I read it last.

I voted for the Magician's Nephew. First I ever read in the series, and always the favorite-- I even made this really cool shirt to wear to the LOTR movie that said "Sure, you know about the One Ring to rule Middle Earth, but do you know about the two rings that can get you there?" It's also pretty strange that I have a great uncle and a great aunt named Frank and Helen.

I voted silver chair, then changed my mind, sorry.
I'd have to say the Magicians Nephew. I love how it starts off the entire series. I kidna like Uncle Andrew, crazy man that he is. But then again, everyone thought Einstein was crazy too ;) See, Polly and Diggory assumed he was mad, but he did indeed do something wonderful, opened their eyes to Narnia. I just think the books amazing, I love how the witch goes into Polly and Diggoiry's world and takes charge right away. Uncle Andrews like her slave right again, although I'm sure it was because he was terrified. I love it!!

I'd have to say the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe mainly b/c it's what started it all and I always secretly wished that there was a closet in my house that would bring me to a brand new world, trust me it was a sad dissappointment when I realized that I didn't have any cool closets like that.

I love them all but despite reading Lion/Witch/Wardrobe every Christmas, my favourite is The Magician's Nephew. I read it when I was a very young girl and in our house we had an attic that went right round the house. I used to go in and look for a door into other houses, wondering if I would find Uncle Andrew or the two rings. Silly! It was the first one I read which may be why I choose it as my favourite too.
And yes I did walk into wardrobes for many years after reading Lion et al hoping to find the lampost in the snow and Mr Tumnus!

The Last Battle

All the way!!! It is the most profound and the deepest of the whole series. It is also amazingly allegorical, especially towards the end. There is just something about it that makes me feel light and happy (only towards the end though).

Other than TLB, I'd have to pick TMN, TLTWTW, TVOTDT, PC, THAHB, TSC.

Specter

LWW = The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
PC = Prince Caspian
VDT = The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
SC = The Silver Chair
HHB = The Horse and His Boy
MN = The Magician's Nephew
LB = The Last Battle

;)

As for me, I'll be deciding soon. I've read all but the last 50 pages of LB so far.

Well, I know you finished reading them all, now, Paul... so, did you decide?

I love all of them so much that I really cannot descide. For me, all the books are my favorite. Unfortunately, I can't see what other people have voted until I vote myself. I don't know who's brilliant idea that was. <_< Guess I'll never know.

Y. Fish

Actually, you can. Look under the graph at the top of the messages. There should be an option that says "View Poll Results" where you don't have to vote. Or at least, I think there's one there-- I could be wrong. Maybe I'm thinking of some other poll on a different forum... I know UO's polls are that way and they use the same format for their forum as this one.

I'd have to say that my favorite is The Voyage of the Dawn Treader; I read it when I was really young, and I still like it alot!!!! I haven't read the book since when I was 11 or so, and now I'm gonna go read LB cuz I wanna see what the really deep allegories (I got who Aslan was at 7: now I want to see how deep the rabbit-hole goes at 15).

Welcome Aragorn51088! Having just read all 7 books again, I chose The Last Battle. I hope this one makes it to the big screen someday. Could be really well done!

VoDT was my favourite though I did very much enjoy the magicians nephew. I mean to say last battle would be tough coz regardless you all know how much I found the ending confusing. Plus I think Lucy and Edmund then to introduce Eustance as such a dislikable folk it was just great! in the VoDT were just fantastic :D

Specter
04-23-2004, 10:22 PM
Yeah, Eustace goes through quite a change. He becomes a lot more like Edmund, after Edmund changed at the end of LWW.

Gleeleaf
04-24-2004, 09:40 AM
Eustace and Edmund are the best human characters because you can relate to them, being awfull people and then changing. I like them a lot. :)

Oh, and thanks for the info, Y. Fish! I can't believe I didn't notice that button before! :rolleyes:

Lunis
04-24-2004, 06:48 PM
I guess if I had to choose one it'd be either SC or VDT, mostly because of Puddleglum and Reepicheep, and the way both books contain a lot of traveling. :D

Gleeleaf
04-25-2004, 03:25 PM
I think if I had to choose between the two you just mentioned, I'd choose SC. Maybe. I really like both of them. It's just that VDT has a sad ending - a good ending - but I thought it was really sad. I miss reepicheep. :( :D

Yeah... and Lucy and Edmund couldn't come back to Narnia anymore! :(

Warrior-Poet51088
04-27-2004, 10:25 AM
Yea, I remember crying when I first read the books and found out that once you got to a certain age, you couldn't go back. I also cried when Reepicheep left. Oh well. In the words of Forrest Gump, "That's all I have to say about that."

Lunis
04-27-2004, 02:46 PM
Hmm, yeah. :mellow: Hey :o ....I like your sig Aragorn (Sam's speech from the book, right?). ;)

Warrior-Poet51088
04-27-2004, 06:48 PM
Yep. I was having a hard time in school last semester, and I remembered that he said something like that in the movies, so I found it in the book. It was really encouraging, so now it's my on my AIM buddy info...I am such a geek! :D

Wow, Fishy, I'm impressed that any nonLOTR-fan would recognize the Lay of Luthien. Even those who claim to be fans <_< just because they've watched the movies a gajillion times probably wouldn't know it. Have you read the books, or did someone else tell you about it? :huh:
That's one of my favorite poems in FOTR... but that's a different subject entirely. Sorry :D

Y. Fish
05-01-2004, 01:17 PM
Well, I didn't remember it was called the Lay of Luthien. But I did remember it was from that poem about the ancient elvin queen who gave up immortality for her love that I came across that time I tried to read FOTR. (Got halfway through, too! :) ) I promise, I'll read at least the rest of FOTR over the summer. Or may my grandmother be fed to the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Trall. ;)

I liked "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe," because it seems very important in all the series of the stories on how the children go inside a wardrobe that takes them to another land called Narnia and meet Aslan for the first time. :rolleyes:

It's a tie between two books so far though I have not read the Last Battle and only started the Silver Chair.

I really liked LWW, of course, but I also greatly enjoyed VOTDT.

It's difficult to say because each book introduces new characters and plot, but there's also a continuing plot and Aslan, which seems to unify all the books in one way or another.

I really love VDT, but for my fave it is a tie between HHB (I like how it gives you more info on Archenland and Calormen) and PC (I like battle scenes, and Lucy has an awesome comeback to Edmund. It's on my signature:) )
