Hey everyone!
I looked Skandar (Edmund) up on IMDB (www.imdb.com) and it says that he grew 6 and 1/2 inches during the filming! According to the source they say that they hd to re-fit his armor weekly  I'm wondering if anyone knows of some wierd things that happened during the filiming.

Walden has optioned the entire seven-part "Chronicles of Narnia" fantasy book series for film development.
The movie had two fake working titles: "The Hundred Year Winter" and "Paravel". Signs in Auckland which directed extras and crew to the sets had "Paravel" written on them.
The Director, Andrew Adamson, who himself is from West Auckland, along with some of his production crew, were given a traditional Maori welcome onto a Maori meeting house near the West Auckland studios. This was done as a sign of respect to the local tribe of West Auckland whose lands will be used for filming locations.
When placing ads in "The New Zealand Herald" for extras, the call was put out for people under 5ft and over 6ft. Extras calls were made in the NZ main cities of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch over a period of two weeks.
The makers asked for permission to bring in 12 reindeer to New Zealand to pull the Ice Queen's sled. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry denied, citing the potentially deadly Q fever from which the North American reindeer population suffers as the reason. However, eight wolves were allowed in for filming in Auckland.
Tilda Swinton hadn't read the book prior to filming.
Co-producer Douglas Gresham is the stepson of C.S. Lewis, author of the novel upon which the film is based.
The word "aslan" means "lion" in Turkish.
Brian Cox was originally set to voice Aslan.
There is a further scene featuring Lucy and Professor Kirke after the credits have started to roll.

on the movie companion book it says that the crew decided to play a joke on skandar... since will and anna had a dancing part in the coronation scene, suddenly they told skandar he'd have a dancing part, too... the next day his dance trainer came in and he was ready to dance... but then, skandar said, "it was strange because a lot of her moves were very... adult, if you get what i mean. some gyrating, some pelvic thrusts!" the great thing is skandar actually learned and rehearsed those moves, and he kept saying he wasn't ready for the cameras to roll... he finally figured it out when the trainer asked him to do the chest bumps...
i think it's hilarious but man, i'd love to see that cute boy do some gyrating and pelvic thrusts...

Rumors, probably.
The one 'bout dancing's pretty darn hysterical though. Poor boy.

actually none of those are rumors, they are all from the official movie companion book. here's mine. Apparently Skandar has quite the energy level so he was not allowed to have sugar during the movie filming, no soda, no candy, no cookies. So William decided to play a joke on him and told Skandar that the grass floor they walked on was actually spun sugar and Skandar immediately started grabbing handfuls and eating it while William sat there laughing. Skandar quickly realized of course that it was not sugar. (He must have really been deprived)
Another one was that after eating Turkish delight all day for the scene, Skandar hated the stuff. He said he tried to eat it again the second day of filming that scene and promptly threw up.

hey i heard that too. he doesnt look like he grew at all really. But I know some goofs during the movie that are pretty funny like... when Peter was reading the post from Maugrim the rip on the top of the paper kept appearing and disappearing. and also when Susan and Lucy were riding Aslan they switched places.

the very first scene filmed was the bunker scene and william had been trying really hard to rehearse for the scene. Andrew went and talked to william and he came back, shot the scene and nailed it in the first take. But after they finished he realized he had slammed the door so hard that the handle had broken off in his hand and he had been holding it the whole time.
And as far as Skandar goes, I feel kinda bad for the kid. I might start eating the floor too if I'd had to give up all sugar for six months. yuck!

I saw some interview with Andrew Adamson and tis was part of it:
Adamson also knew the best way to unnerve his young charges, when the drama called for it. "Skandar will bust me for telling you this," he says, laughing, but the first scene where Edmund meets the Witch, I would tease him as he was getting into the sleigh: "Snuggle up to your new girlfriend!" And he would immediately start squirming, which gave us these great uncomfortable moments on camera, because he was at that age where he didn’t like the idea of girlfriends and the thought that I was telling him to treat this intimidating, tall woman as his girlfriend … Ha!" (Skandar is now having to get used to female attention, though not quite how he may have hoped. "The other day we were in Teen Vogue and this girl came running up to me, saying ’Skandar, Skandar, you’re in Teen Vogue!’ And I’m playing it cool, like, ’Yeah, yeah, that’s me’ and she goes, ’So you must know Will!’”) :D

I heard that when Lucy first steps into Narnia, those expressions were real. That the crew had blindfolded Georgie and wouldn't let her see the set until the camera's were rolling. Does anyone know if this is true?

its so funny towards the middle. its about skandars birthday present.
did anybody know he is half middle-eastern?? :D :)

yes it is. Andrew was really set on capturing the true faces of the kids, Skandar didn't see Tilda in her witch's outfit until the day they filmed, Georgie didn't see James in his faun outfit and that is her real expression when she saw Narnia for the first time.
It's also Anna's double in all the scenes with the mice. Anna is deathly afraid of mice.

no, most of this stuff is out of the official movie companion book or from interviews we've seen or read with them. we're just very obsessed with Narnia.

That's fine.
My mom says that she has heard everything I have told her at least twice!!!
I glad I'm not the only person obsessed with Narnia.

actually the principal photography in new zealand took a long time (half a year? a year?) so i wouldn't be surprised if he grew 6 inches (15 cm roughly)... considering he was at that growth spurt age and all...

In the interview with him on The Early Show, the interviewer asks him about this rumor and he says it's true. He grew 6 1/2 inches during the filming of it, and they resized his armor weekly. He said that they shot the movie in chronological order, and I'm guessing that that's probably why. Oh yeah, William said he grew 2 inches during the filming of it also.

I unfortunately do love the stuff. Can't quite explain it. Let me play Edmund anyday!
I've never tried turkish delight before but i migght have to try some.
As for Skandar growing taller, apparently at start of film he was 4ft 9 so he rought be 5ft 5 now or 5ft 7 which is quite interesting, u can grow quite tall in the year.
~Rogue~
12-22-2005, 07:26 AM
Yeah I thought about 5"7 because Tilda is 5"11 and William is just a little bit shorter than her and Skandar is only a bit shorter than him.
