I'm very dissapointed to hear from many sources that a PG rating has been confirmed. That REALLY bums me! PG-13 would be best because many people want to see realism like the LOTR, not a kiddie movie. OH well, I'll still see the movie....

Actually having it be a PG rating is good. Means more kids are able to watch it.
Look at Star wars Episode III. It has a pg-13 rating because of a couple of scenes and some parents refused to take their kids to see it. Lord of the Ring shows goblins and orcs and what else getting their arm's chopped off, Heads falling off etc.

I think you have to remember that the target audience for the CoN books were smaller children. You can see that in the evidence of the battle scene (or lack of) in LWW. Instead of a big fight, we saw how Aslan got reinforcements for the battle.
It is good to have the rating at PG. That way, the target audience is reached in the movie.

Yeah, and in the book the battle wasn't graphic, but there probably will be parts in the movie that aren't appropriate for children because of violence. PG is a good rating I think.

Well, this isn't LOTR. LOTR demanded absolute realism. Narnia is much more fantasy then LOTR. Also, there are far more young Narnia fans then LOTR.
Lewis wrote this story for children and I think he would have wanted a PG rating. And, I can't bear the thought of my little sister and brother not being able to see this. They all love Narnia and it would break their heart.
But keep this in mind........All of the Star Wars films (except for Episode 3) had a PG rating.

Thats the thing why its not being made so it would get the pg13 rating So children will beable to see it.

All the old ones had a PG rating becasue PG-13 hadn't been created yet.

I think PG is good, the way my little brothers will be able to see it, they would be very upset if they couldn't.

I agree with the PG rating, for the reasons already presented. These are kids' books after all.
Although I'm hoping it's more towards the "upper end" of PG ... don't want it too cutesy and sanitized do we? The Stone Table sequences will and should freak some people out, and I hope the filmmakers don't shy too far away from that or the whole thing loses part of its significance.

mmmmmm, i must admit i would have loved to see M rating which i think is ur pg 13 pretty much. but it being a kids book and all i kinda expected PG. im happy kids will be able to see it just so long as they dont laugh at really inaproriate bits or walk infront of me every 5 minutes to goto the toilet
and i swear to god if i hear one kid say that shark boy and lava girl was better there will be no possible way to control my anger lol. if u havent noticed im very intolerant.
so i would have liked to have seen it with a M rating but i wasnt really thinking it would get anymore than PG. i just really hope they dont tone down like the witches castle and battle scene so kids dont get frightened

oh my shark boy and lava girl, dont even go there lol, i hope that when me and my sister go and see it the first night, that it will be a quiet theatre, with NO loud annoying little kids, i want to enjoy it and not get annoyed by ther people in the audiencs. :D

I do not think a PG rating is a good one IF this movie is too frightening for four and five year olds.

I am actually glad it was rated PG, for the same reasons the rest of you have stated. I will go to PG 13 movies like LOTR but for the life of me I could not see a Narnia Movie rated above a PG.

I would not have minded personally if the movie were rated PG-13, but I am very glad for the sakes of many children out there who are dying to see this film that it is going to be rated PG. Regardless of why it's rated the way it is, a lot of parents simply feel safer taking their children to a PG rated film. And guys, we're dealing with top-notch movie makers here. I'm sure they can think of ways to make the movie high-quality AND PG. No worries here.

the rating hasnt been confirmed yet, i just dont like it when they change the film just so kids can see it. i mean sure some will have to miss out, others will just go see it anyway but i dont think its worth changing or toning down the film just so kids can see it.

Sorry, Pendelton, but I disagree with the sentiment you expressed for at least 2 reasons:
1. Who says they're "toning down" the movie to make it OK for kids? If this movie is actually based accurately on the book, it will not have more than a PG rating, because the book was written for children and Lewis was careful about the images he portrayed and the tone he kept in writing the book. Neither the Battle of Beruna nor the sacrifice of Aslan is described in a way that would be rated higher than PG. If the movie-makers bumped those scenes up to PG-13 content just to please older movie-goers, they would actually be veering away from the book's narrative, which I would prefer them to follow as closely as possible.
2. The idea that making a movie purposely appropriate for children is wrong is very selfish, especially when it is a story written for children in the first place (see reason 1). We as teenagers or adults may appreciate the story more with a bit more "realism," but it would be utterly wrong to deny children what is rightfully theirs just so we can be entertained! We were kids once, too, and I think we need to think of how our opinions might have been different in this issue if this movie had come out ten years ago. Kids are people too! Very important people, for that matter.
Just some things to think about...

faeriechylde, your 2 reasons for the rating is very well thought out in my opinion and articulated well. My thought exactly. I was introduced to Narnia by the old BBC Movies they showed on PBS when I was 10 years old, and I can't imagine a child not getting to see this movie just because of the rating. This movie may introduce many people to the world of Narnia that have never heard of or seen the books before, many of them children.

As for CoN being more fantasy, I disagree. But the Lord of the Rings takes itself much more seriously. The Lord of the Rings is written as a history, and the films treat it as such. But Narnia has a description Lewis himself ascribed that would never suit Middle earth: Fairy tales.

Do you know that on NarniaWeb they just reported that it is officially PG? I say that all in all it's a good thing.

it is for battle sequences and frightening moments, though, so it is violent. lots of pg movies are violent and cool. that's my opinion.

PG is the best rating for this movie and no1 should think otherwise
it is not suited to some younger children but yet its not that bad to be M15
so yea :p

to be honest, i would have liked more from the battle scene, it was just abit to tame and yeah it is a kids movie but its also and adults movie. plus im a teenager and whats better than seeing mega win fight scenes in movies, for example lord of the rings was so easy to watch as half of it was fighting :) lol

I could care less if it were PG or R. As long as it's a well told story.

Surreptitiously, I really wanted a PG-13 battle scene.
It would have killed a target audience (little kids) but it would have been awesome.
