Alright, I'm curious now. I've been coming here for a little under a month, and have seen some real good discussions about all sorts of things, and I just decided to start participating now. Here goes.

What do you think about guys or girls who, well, like the same sex? I'm not talking about people actually having sex with each other, just people that have tendencies to like others. Is it okay? Can they help it? Should a person who's like that be allowed to date other people? I don't mean marry, just date. Do you think they really do get depressed a lot more often than regular people?

For me anyways, I think that they shouldn't be allowed to marry, or anything like that, but that people who are in that position can't help it, so it's ok. Dating is alright to, as long as nobody does anything sexual, same as with a girl. And one more last thing. Ok, to be honest, I'm bi. And if you aren't completely disgusted by that, let me ask you something. Did you change your reply now that I said that? Do you see me differently than before? Just something to keep in mind.

I'm sorry, but this topic has been deemed inappropriate by moderating staff. There are children on this forum, as young as 8. We had this topic/discussion a while back. Sorry, but this thread will certainly be locked.

Oh... Who's call was that? It's not locked yet though...

Oh... Who's call was that? It's not locked yet though...The last thread I noticed that dealt with this subject matter was locked by EveningStar. It was unclear to me if it was locked because of the subject matter or because the name of the thread used a slang term which many would find offensive. Either way, it is probably not locked yet because it has not come to the attention of a mod with locking capabilities.

Might he only have locked it because it had offensive language? Well, I'll ask him about it I guess.

Till then I don't know, this is like a limbo thread. I'll just assume it's ok until it gets deleted...

The reason ES locked the other thread was for it's language and offensive content since this is a family-friendly forum.

Sorry but he explained it more fully to us. He locked it because, as he explained it, there are two different types of questions being asked here. Life questions and Philosophical questions. The Socratic club deals in philosophical questions, like "Is the glass half empty of half full?" Life questions are more like "Is it better to fill or empty the glass?" This is a life question. This section is for philosophical questions.

ES always has the best explanations. Why aren't any mods (except Elf) looking at the thread?

Can elf not lock these or something?

Can elf not lock these or something?I don't think he can. He's a mini-mod.

Gotcha. Shame though. It's not that offensive to kids is it? Not much more than some of the other topics that have been around...

Unfortunately, it is. It's a subject that a lot of parents don't want their kids see being discussed, much less participating in it. As Elf said, this is a family-friendly forum, and a similiar thread like this was locked by ES. That's one reason I deleted my message.

Well we don't want a little kid asking their mom "Mommy, what's a (_blank_)?" and having the mom totally scandalized. Sorry.

That's right, Elf. Good point. I wouldn't let my kids participate in a topic such as this. (not that I have any; I'm only 14)

Elf is not a "mini mod." He's a squire, a person with some powers of moderation given by the Admin to make the environment on The Dancing Lawn safer and more pleasant.. Squire is a step on the road to moderator, and Elf has taken that step with a grace, character and restraint beyond his years.
