View Full Version : the injustice!
The threads in this section (specially the did C.S.Lewis get bored! :p ) are so negative about this book, adn it is one of my favourites. I loved the Pevensies so much, and their being in Narnia so much, that seeing them while they are there (narnia's Golden Age!) was wonderful.
plus, when I was little, they used to play a tape of the book read by Michael Hordern, in my dorm at school, it was so exciting I could barely contain myself between nighttimes.
Anyway, I just had to get that out because I felt the horse and his boy was being hard done by. :D

I love HHB, too, now more than when I was a kid. It's a great adventure and gives you a wonderful glimpse of the grown-up kings and queens. It's aces. And I certainly hope it will be made into a movie, too.

HHB is one of my faves too, and is becoming more so the older and grumpier I get.
It's a shame but people do tend to forget about it, the same with MN i find, (and I love that one too), just because they don't feature the main '4' doesn't mean they have any less value!

yes. HHB is an amazing book, but it doesn't add much to the series I guess. I really like it because you see who the children grow up to be. It's one of my favorites

Well my teo fave books are MN and HHB. The two 'forgotten' books as Rosy calls them. I find there's something special about them which draws me to them.

MN isn't my favourite, but that's not saying much since I absolutely love ALL of them... But I really love HHB. It just gives such an insight into all these neglected bits of Narnia, the Calormenes, the adult life of the Pevensies, Archenland - plus which it has more about Aslan, who, not surprisingly, is one of my favourite characters... Just how I imagine God to be (minus the whole being a lion thing though!) It's also got a really exciting storyline, mysteries and revelations galore... Overall, a rocking book :D
I'm so glad! My fears were clearly groundless, but I'm glad I got to hear your guys thoughts. I was just thinking about the book, and how much I love the scene with Aslan, when Shasta is walking through the mists- and when Aslan won't tell him about anyone else, because 'that is their story' (or something). I love that- the reminder that we should not constantly be judging how other people are doing, and that such a judgement would never be a well-informed one. Aslan has a wonderful way of bringing me up short with a few home truths. :)

The reason I love MN, is the insight into the world of Charn. I love Charn so much because Lewis tells us almost nothing about it and we can sit and imagine loads of crazy things about it. It really mystical and alien and weird - and i like that!

I like HHB the best also. I have a Harper audio version read by English actors like Micheal York and Patrick Steward.

I think it would be an interesting movie to make. I mean, I wonder what Tashbaan would look like? And the tombs and everything? It would be brilliant if they made a film. Are they planning to? (it might be a bit far ahead)

HHB is actually my second favorite, great book!
I think Lewis did a great job in introducing new characters while still esploring Narnia and surrounding areas.

i am about half way through this book and i must say, it is pretty cool. i love the fact that in every story new characters are introduced but yet there is always a tie back to another character or event that you have read about in a previous book.

The Horse and His Boy really puts the geography of that whole world together for us. Picturing Archenland and Tashbaan makes the other books all the more enjoyable to me. The Last Battle wouldn't make as much sense to me w/o HHB. The Focus on Family Radio Theatre version is fabulous. The horses voices are just how I imagined them!

alright well i just finished reading HHB and i have to say... it was awesome! i love the characters and how the geography is laid out. it helps to link narnia with its surrounding areas and what those areas are like. i think that this book would make an excellent movie! think about it... the characters stay on the move the entire story which would make it very entertaining!
