Which Edmund was better? Jonathan R. Scott, Skandar Keynes, or the
animated kind. I'm not putting a poll though. I wanna see the reasons why you like whoever better.

Skandar!!! skandar all the way. I think he rocks, because Johnathan R. Scott is hardly in the movie, and I don't like the animated movie.

I think that Skandar Keynes and Jonathan R. Scott are equal in there performances, they are both great actors. Theres no doubt that Skandar is cuter (Jonathan wasnt bad looking then though), but performance wise I like them both equally. (I havent seen the animated one) All in all they both were wise choices for the part of Edmund (in their time)

I have to say that the one from the BBC version looked very weasel like, like one who could be an edmund, but Skandy kinda looks the part to me...

Defently Skandar. He toatly looked the part and was an amazing actor. :)

hmmm..i think they both did an excellent job..and looked the part..Jonathan had a very deceitful attitude/scoffed more at his siblings and stood away more from his siblings whereas Skandar could mesh with his sibs but at the same time maintain that "outsider" quality..i dunno whut i'm even saying any more..its kinda hard to describe...in short both did quality jobs for their particular version :D

Of the 2 actors, I'll rate them this way: Johnathan 55% Edmund, Skander 45% Edmund.

Skandar tended to sulk a lot, but Johnathan really seemed like the traitor type... that's my opinion.

Definetely.....Skandar! Eventhough similar with the book character, I prefer Edmund with the dark hair rather than the blonde one

Definitly Skandar.

Copperfox
09-29-2006, 07:29 PM
...would actually have done a good job of portraying Peter, in my opinion. Thus, when Edmund was rid of evil influences, the BBC actor was great at being noblehearted, as Edmund was from then on. Skandar did better at being weaselly when the story called for it.

I think that it's a close call, considering Jonathon was the only one in the BBC adaptation to get his character right, imo. But Skandar was amazing as Edmund as well.

I think they were both as good as each other.

Honestly..I know that everyone is goign to want to kill me after I say this but...I think that Jonathan R. Scott did just as good a job acting his part with what they gave him as Skandar did and in a lot of ways I liked Jonathan better. I mean sure there was so much that skandar just nailed but there were elements that Jonathan had in his acting that Skandar didn't. I honestly loved both of them as Edmund and I can't wait till the VDT comes out so I can really see who is better.

I think that Skandar Keynes is definitely better than any other representation of Edmund. Jonathan Scott is not what I ever imagined Edmund to look like, while Skandar is pretty close.

I agree with you. My mom saw the BBC version while I saw the newer version. She said that she liked the BBC Edmund than Skandar! I totally disagree.

Skandar all the way!

I agree. They both did a really good job at portraying different elements of Edmund's character. Jonathan did an excellent job of portraying the struggle that went on in Edmund when he was in the process of betraying his siblings. He also had some excellent sneers, and he taunted Lucy excellently.

However, Skandar was very good at just being natural as Edmund - partly because the four of them fit so well together as siblings. The downfall of Jonathan's role is that he didn't have the same connection wtih the others as Skandar did. He also did an excellent job of showing what Edmund was feeling, and the reasons why he was feeling what he did. He brought a depth to Edmund that wasn't here before - but I think that has a lot to do with the directing rather than anything else.

Both of them are very different in appearance, and Skandar looks more the right age than Jonathan did. In fact, in BBC Peter and Ed look like they're the same age. If it wasn't for the authority that Richard put into the role of Peter, you wouldn't have had any tension at all between them.

Anyways...here's a quick compare for those of you who haven't seen BBC Narnia:
The Edmund's:

Jonathan R. Scott:

Hmmm, thats hard. I would definitely say that Skandar looked the part
more than Jonathan. Well at least to me. But then again Jonathan was
funnier. Especially when he said the line, "Find any more bathrooms in the
cupboards lately?" He was such a little worm! I think thats what Peter called him in the BBC version,(along with many other things) I don't know
I have to watch it again. Anyway I think they are both great actors but I
have to admit when I first saw Skandar as Edmund I just thought, PERFECT!
He was really great!:D

I totally agree with you girls. But I think that if Skandar were to be in the BBC version his talent would have been wasted since the acting wasn't as good as the Walden Media. And I definitely think that Jonathon would have done a terrible job if he were in the Walden Media compared to the other actors. So I think that they were good for the versions they were in.

I agree with Lady Em! They were both great for the versions they were in. It's a tough call to compare the two until both Prince Caspian and Voyage of the Dawn Treader are released. Jonathan did an amazing job as Edmund, but he also had a great script to work off of. Jonathan showed Edmund's change of heart well. He was a little beast at the start, but really showed the change on the inside by the end of LWW. In PC and VDT he had a much more kingly manner about him...of course it helped that he'd aged some as well. He also looks closer to what the book describes him as...with the blonde hair (see LB). He did have to struggle with the ages of the other kids vs what they should have been...but under the circumstances he did a wonderful job.

Skandar on the other hand fit in with the other actors playing his siblings in an amazing way. This helped tons. He looked like he could be related to Georgie for sure. He was also great at being impish and mean. We don't get to see as much of the internal struggle Ed has. I agree that until we see Skandar's performances in PC and VDT we can't really compare well. It will be interesting to see how much Skandar has grown up and mellowed out. Doug Gresham made a comment in an interview that he was great at playing Edmund for LWW because he was like Edmund was at the beginning of LWW...but when he had to change that was when the acting would begin for him. I'm betting that the last year or so and the changes in his life have pushed him to grow up some and change a bit...so it will be interesting in seeing how it impacts his performances. Skandar did a good job as well.

They're both good. Both were suited for the version that they were in. I don't think that there is one better than the other...just different.
