It was a sad and awful event that, I believe, woke America up to the fact that we are not invincible and have plenty of enemies out there in the world even after the end of the Soviet Union. I'm afraid we grew a little too comfortable in the days of President Clinton, and this became apparent due to the fact that our air defenses were not exactly coordinated when they needed to be.

As a Christian I think that 9/11 showed us Christians that we need to pray for our leaders, and that we can't just sit around expecting everything to stay just fine. It also gave us a renewed sense of patriotism and pride, but we need to remember that if we don't protect ourselves we could very easily fall to an enemy.

I like to go back to a quote made by the Japanese admiral Yamamoto (Hope I spelled that correctly) right after Pearl Harbor had been bombed. He said, "I'm afraid we have wakened a sleeping giant and filled him with a terrible resolve." As Christians AND Americans we need to fulfill what he said to the fullest, yet never go back to sleep. I don't believe we'll catch all of the terrorists in the world, but if we hurt them enough then we MIGHT not have to worry about them again.

To be honest I don't feel that this is a very good thread to have. I think everyone, both Christian and non, will agree that 9/11 was a terrible tragedy. And a discussion on the possibilities of God's judgement or inside politics or simply an act of terrorism is not the best topic to discuss online. Its just such a touchy subject for people that I don't think its a good idea to discuss here. And if someone does have more unpopular views I would imagine they would be cautious of bringing them up in such a public setting.

If you do feel this thread is useful and I'm in error, please pm me and I will consider your argument.
