I always thought she was frightening. She's amazingly deceitful too, feeding on Edmund's temptations and all.
The white witch scared the be-jebus outa me. Her eyes were just so icey and blank. I always remember when she tells her minions to tie up Aslan, i swear that actress pulls it off so well, you can see the malice in her eyes *Shudders*

I don't think that person could have had an ounce of goodness in her, she really did want to kill aslan, fake or not, she wanted death. Shes scary stuff. Thats why i don't want to mess with brits too much anymore.

Not all Brits are evil witches with an obsession for ice and a hatred of christmas :P
BTW, do you pronounce her name "Jay-dis" or "Jar-dis"?
Pretzel Head

No Sp00nie, not ALL are.
She scared the bejezus outa me i can tell you that. Though not as much as the witch in The Silver Chair, now SHE was scary.

The siler chair was such a scary book! giants, people undeergound, the evil witch, serpants... so scary!
Pretzel Head

Yeah! And that bit where Puddleglum found the recipe for human and marsh wiggles in the giant's recipe book, that scared the **** outa me!

Um... I thought we were talking about the movies, not the books
Actually though, I haven't seen all the BBC movies, only LWW and VDT, that I can remember, anyway. But yeah, the white witch was scary. She was the best actress in the movie, anyway  (Sorry, but that's not saying much. But I still love the BBC movies, so don't hurt me :( )

The white witch was really icy, but I really thought the witch in Silver Chair was pretty scary..... I hated how she was so smooth talking "There is no sun, there is no sun...." It's no wonder the prince melted under her influence!

No????
You sure?

Hey I'd want that ability!!!!! :) Not that I'd like a girl with it, but hey! I'd want it myself! I'd want to be a water moccasin cause they can swim man! Pluss they're deadly ...
faeriechylde
03-23-2004, 05:06 PM
Wow, I never knew you would like to have the ability to transform into a water moccasin... I guess I learn something new everyday  Since green is my favorite color, I'd probably stick with being a harmless green garden snake... but I'd probably rather be a dragonfly, come to think of it. I guess you'd be eating me then, though
Gleeleaf
03-24-2004, 01:07 PM
You're so blah, Fae! Water mocasins are cool! They have POWER!!! Why would you rather be a garden snake or DRAGONFLY!!! LOL!
Lunis
04-04-2004, 06:00 PM
I s'pose I'd like to transform into a King Cobra , a 7 footer would be nice. :D
But it'd also be cool to turn into a giant, vivid green snake, like the witch.
Though only if I could do it without witch-craft... eegh that lady gave me the creeps.
Rosie Cotton

i think the white witch was scary, but she was also intriquing at the same time. I always wanted to look at her again and again trying to find something new in her. She wasn't the type of scary like orcs or anything but a beautiful ugly that was weird...anyway...babbles.
Rosie Cotton
ps. Leafy, now i understand why you asked me that question thursday nite. I would like to be a water mocasin too (not a dragonfly) ;)

Sorry, but I don't work with her anymore...she got a better job somewhere else! I saw it one time when our whole city had a massive power outage in January, and my library was one of the few places that had heat, so she brought her poor cold blooded snake to work with her so that it wouldn't freeze! :) It ws a pretty thing tho!

Which Witch did you guys think was scarier, the White Witch or the Lady of the Green Kirtle? I personaly cannot descide. They both freak me out.
faeriechylde
04-21-2004, 06:11 PM
I think the Green Witch was much scarier than the White Witch, because she is more deceitful... I was so afraid when I read TSC that Eustace, Jill, and Puddleglum were going to be taken in by her lies.
Y. Fish
04-21-2004, 08:48 PM
Green. Definitely the scarier color than white.
Gleeleaf
04-21-2004, 10:01 PM
Yeah, maybe. But each whitch has her time to shine, in a manner of speaking. Think about TMN. Jadis is really freaky in that one, espescially while she's in Charn. But you guys do have a point, and though I seem to be arguing for the White Witch, I agree with you. :D The Lady of the Green Kirtle is much freakier. Um, more freaky. However you'd say that.
Lunis
04-22-2004, 11:13 AM
I guess deceitfullness is more scary, but I'd hate to be turned into stone; though I suppose not as much as being in a kind of trance or hypnotized.
Hmm, I guess won't know for sure until I experience both. [shivers slightly] ;)
Y. Fish
04-22-2004, 04:16 PM
Well, I was actually just talking about the color green. I think that the actual witches wearing the two colors are equally dangerous (and I am still plagued by the mystery of whether they are the same woman or not! arrgh!) However, even though Jadis/White Witch is probably more dangerous during her stint as the Witch, I found her more frightening, just coming across in the words, as Jadis in MN.
Gleeleaf
04-24-2004, 09:35 AM
Oh, yes, as Jadis, there could be nothing scarier! (shudders) She creeps me out.
But as Uncle Andrew says, "A dem fine woman."
Lunis
04-24-2004, 06:29 PM

Sorry, Fishy, but i disagree...
White is scary because it is symbolic of frost, snow and ice. These things are beautiful to look at, but they always are, well, cold, and sharp. And they can kill.
Green has always seemed more symbolic of life to me... grass, trees, etc. It's a warm, vibrant color.
But then, I'm very biased. Green has been my favorite color for a long time...
Gleeleaf
04-26-2004, 04:57 PM
I don't agree or dissagree. I think white can be the scarier color, if it's like a ghostly dirty-white with grey or frosty blue kind of mixed in ... you get the picture. Yet, green, when it looks poisonous and sickly or something like that. Anyway, they can both be scary colors. I refused to be biased.

well i didn't think that she was scary(in the movies or the books). but she was definately a good(well played/done?) bad-guy(villan if i must?). in the books i always thought of her as like this 10ft tall lady with a really wierd but cool looking cloak. and then jewels and stuff. in the movies she was pretty much the same, just more evil and cruel. btw i saw the movie before i read the books. but in the movie she was...eh...more convincing as a villan. and a good villan. i always thought of her as just a villan, in the movie. she was never realyl scary. but again a good villan(contradictory to myself, i know. and some ppl would turn this into a great big flame war that i would end in about two sentences. hopfuly no kone on here would do such a thing. and please don't. also, read my sig.).
P.S. "read my sig" is like ""eat my dust" and that doesn't really makes sence here so i'm just talking and making no snce. ok. bye

I first saw LWW when I was very little so I didn't really understand that the witch was bad, so I always thought the witch was very pretty, I loved her hair, how its so long and black. Now I'm older, but I still don't think she's scary, the "Lady of the Green Kirtle" was always much scarier for me. She was played by the same actress, she did the hag in Prince Caspian too.

She terrified me when I was a kid. So much so that she developed a nickname in the house - the "Mona" - and all of us kids would shiver whenever she was mentioned. I'm a girl, so I wouldn't know about "hot", but I think she was a very, very good White Witch.

Well, in the movie, the white witch didnt really evoke much fear in me.
I know some people who think that Jadis and the witch from Silver Chair are one in the same. What do you think? It could be, because in Prince Caspian Nikabrik and his evil friends talk about resurrecting her, and how "She never really died"
