After Voyage of the Dawn Treader: Silver Chair, then Horse and His Boy

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

Sci-Fi Pulse has finally posted their red carpet interview video for Prince Caspian. In that, Douglas Gresham mentions a bit about what they’re doing with the production order for the Narnia films. From what he says, it looks like the production will continue as the books were published.

This is the smartest way to do it. Narnia purists will tell you that the only way to read the books for the first time is the original publication order. That’s what I tell anyone to do, that has not read them yet to do.

Anyway, on the red carpet in New York, Douglas Gresham says:

We still have five books to do. I’m working right now on pre-production on The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and I’m already starting discussions on The Silver Chair; and we’re just toying with the idea of doing The Horse and His Boy after that. So we are thinking ahead.

This doesn’t confirm it solidly, but it does show a bit more of what they’re planning. That’ll just leave The Magician’s Nephew and The Last Battle to close out the series.

Watch the video on Sci-Fi Pulse. There’s a great part where Georgie Henley meets Liam Neeson. Priceless!

O2 Arena Narnia film premiere offers 10,000 red-carpet treatment

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

Film premieres in London have long been the exclusive preserve of studio executives and their guests, the 1,600 chosen few who could cram into the capital’s largest cinema, the Odeon Leicester Square. Now a Hollywood studio is throwing open its doors to the public, enabling as many as 10,000 fans to walk up the red carpet at the biggest movie premiere in Britain.

Walt Disney Pictures is turning the O2 arena in Greenwich into what it describes as “the largest cinema in history” for its latest blockbuster, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.

Not so long ago the O2 was the much-mocked Millennium Dome, a vast empty shell on a desolate peninsula in East London. Now it has become the nation’s most popular music entertainment venue, attracting artists including the Eagles, Kylie Minogue, Led Zeppelin and Céline Dion.

If Disney’s premiere on June 19 – before the film’s general release on June 26 – is a success, the O2 could become a regular movie venue. The arena has been specially adapted with a delayed surround system to offer an “unparalleled audio-visual experience”, the organisers said.

For £12.50 a ticket, the public will be able to join the film’s cast, including Ben Barnes, the young British actor who plays Prince Caspian, and Liam Neeson, the Oscar-nominated Irish star who voices Aslan the lion, as well as the director Andrew Adamson, who also made the Oscar-winning Shrek.

Proceeds from the ticket sales will go to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, for whose redevelopment appeal Disney is raising millions of pounds.

NYC Prince Caspian Premiere Red Carpet Footage from OneNews NZ

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

OneNews NZ were there at the red carpet, standing next to us as we snagged interviews with the cast and creative team.

You can watch their video from the red carpet here.

Look closely around the 27 second mark. I’m in the video shaking Andrew Adamson’s hand as he comes over to talk. Pretty cool video with some particularly hilarious editing. I still can’t believe they cut it so that Georgie Henley said what she did. Sounds worse than it was, folks!

Narnia Suite Highlights and Pictures

Sunday, May 20th, 2007

Laura Zamzow was able to attend the World Premiere of the Chronicles of Narnia Suite last night. She sent us along some pictures from the event that she took in the lobby (as I’m sure no photography of any kind was allowed in the auditorium). The pictures are primarily props from the film. Very cool stuff. She also tells us about the concert itself. Read on!

As a fan of your site, I thought you might like to at least see some photos from the World Premiere of the Chronicles of Narnia Suite by Harry Gregson-Williams in Denver last night. In the lobby they had some props from the film including Peter’s sword and Father Christmas’s Robe.

The concert was wonderful-the suite was made up of all the main themes from the film and the highlight for everyone seemed to be the fourth movement: The Battle of Beruna. There were 3 screens in Boettcher Hall and they displayed still photos as well as clips from the film while the music was being played. Another highlight was a taped introduction by William Moseley and Anna Popplewell from the set of Prince Caspian.

I hope you enjoy the photos and thank you for creating this fun website!

Royals join stars on blue carpet at Narnia film premiere

Thursday, December 8th, 2005

Reported by John Innes

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall last night entered the wintry world of Narnia at the world premiere of The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe.

Charles and Camilla joined the stars of the new movie version of CS Lewis’s classic tale, including Tilda Swinton, who plays the White Witch.

Swinton looked every inch the ice queen in her white floor-length skirt and fitted jacket decorated with dramatic gold raffled neckline and cusp.

The Prince and the Duchess stepped out onto a frosty blue carpet rather than the usual red one, in keeping with the film’s snowy setting.

The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe is the first of the Chronicles of Narnia series to make it to the big screen.

Fake snow swirled around the Royal Albert Hall in London, and sculptures resembling chunks of blue ice decorated the entrance.

Celebrities

Among the celebrities who attended the special screening of Disney’s long-awaited £62 million movie were Joan Collins, Sadie Frost, Lennie Henry, Kelly Brook, Sir Roger Moore and Coleen McLoughlin.

Camilla wore a long midnight blue silk skirt by Robinson Valentine and a black cashmere jacket decorated with jet beading to the black-tie do.

And the royals chatted to the stars of the adaptation ahead of the screening.

Dawn French, who voices Mrs Beaver, said afterwards: “The Duchess was very funny. She’s got good jokes.

“I play Mrs Beaver, and Ray (Winstone) plays Mr Beaver.

“She told us not to nip each other.”

Winstone said he discussed Mr Beaver’s accent with Charles.

“It’s an East London one, of course,” the actor said.

Swinton revealed after chatting to Camilla: “The Duchess said that her daughter was so frightened of the White Witch that she didn’t want to come tonight.”

The royals also met James McAvoy, who plays the Fawn, Mr Tumnus, and the film’s child stars.

William Moseley plays Peter, Skandar Keynes appears as Edmund, Anna Popplewell is Susan and ten-year-old Georgie Henley plays Lucy.

The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe tells the magical story of the Pevensie children, who discover a wardrobe that is the gateway to the land of Narnia, a frozen winterland of good and evil.

It has been tipped as the Christmas blockbuster to rival Harry Potter.

However, author Philip Pullman has dismissed CS Lewis as “blatantly racist” and “monumentally disparaging of women”.

Lewis was a Christian covert and wrote the Chronicles as a Christian allegory, with Aslan the lion representing Christ.

Disney is promoting the film to the religious by appointing Outreach, an evangelical publisher, to promote the Christian message behind the move in British churches. The premiere was in aid of the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund.
