Wednesday, January 28th, 2009Is Disney back on Voyage of the Dawn Treader?

Someone has posted on Wikipedia about a potential deal between Walden Media and Walt Disney Pictures. It’s an uncited addition to the page, and my research into whomever it is that posted the data has turned up with nothing to verify the source.
On January 14, Disney renegotiated with Walden Media to produce the movie after coming to an agreement on the budget of the film.
I haven’t read that anywhere else, and when there’s no citation of the source, that’s where wikipedia falls short.
Take this news with a grain of salt until it is verified by a Press Release from either Disney or Walden Media. We’ll try to do some investigations of our own to see what we can dig up, in the meantime. It could be that this is a hoax.
UPDATE: A registered editor of Wikipedia has removed the statement. No citation came about, and the person that posted it was probably confusing this with Watchmen, where 20th Century Fox and Warner Brothers came to terms regarding the release of Watchmen.
Mother of Three Calls Disney “crazy”
Tuesday, January 6th, 2009Why Fox Should Pick Up Narnia 3
Thursday, January 1st, 2009Walden Media is one of the few film companies out there today which consistently puts out quality family films (”Narnia,” City of Ember, Bridge to Terabithia, Charlotte’s Web), but unfortunately, few of their films have made enough money to warrant being called true successes. The first (and perhaps second) “Narnia” movie was box office gold, but Terabithia, Charlotte’s Web, and a few others make only moderate amounts of money and some Walden films are downright flops (City of Ember, The Seeker). Now, Disney in effect wants to cancel “The Chronicles of Narnia.”
Is Voyage of the Dawn Treader dead? FALSE!
Wednesday, December 24th, 2008Voyage of the Dawn Treader No Longer Shooting in Mexico
Wednesday, December 17th, 2008There has been more trouble getting The Voyage of the Dawn Treader going into production with rising violence in Mexico as of late. Scheduled to begin filming production at Baja Studios next month, presumably set building and pre-production, the drug war violence may have led Disney and Walden Media to begin a search for another location. Baja Studio is the home of the water tank that was used for Titanic and Master And Commander.
Word has it that the production may move down under, as film industry officials in NSW and Queensland are chasing the movie. The Sunshine State is favoured to win because of the water tank at Warner Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast. The Dawn Treader needs studios, beaches, jungles and other locations for a five-month shoot.
In the C.S. Lewis fantasy novel, Edmund, Lucy and their cousin Eustace return to the magical land of Narnia through a painting then set sail with King Caspian to find seven lost lords.
Briton Michael Apted, who made Amazing Grace, The World Is Not Enough and the Seven Up documentary series, is directing with returning roles for young Skandar Keynes and Georgie Henley. Also back will be Ben Barnes, who was Prince Caspian in the last instalment.
The producers are known to have investigated Australia as a location before they settled on Mexico.
More Creatures In Dawn Treader
Thursday, December 4th, 2008Howard Berger, who has handled special effects and makeup for the Chronicle of Narnia movies, said that actors will have a chance to interact with more fantasy creatures in the expected second sequel, Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
And that will mean more models and animatronic characters on set to stand in for complicated computer-generated visual effects that will be added in post-production, he said while giving reporters a tour of his shop this week. That will include a mix of animatronic animals and realistic costumes.
The interaction between the actors and the fantasy characters is a lot more involved than in the previous two movies, Berger said.
“In Dawn Treader there will be a lot of dialogue, and you can’t have the actors act against nothing,” Berger said.
