NarniaFans Mailbag #39: Dawn Treader Trailers, Stunts and More

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

Sorry that this week’s mailbag is a day late. I had some business to attend to. Namely, there were ghosts to be busted, and I was the best Ghostbuster for the job.  On Tuesday, a game that I had been waiting for most of my life to play was finally released.  Not only that, but it was released in roughly three variations, two of which I know for sure used the actors from the original movies.  Ghostbusters The Video Game was released for most systems, of which I got it for Xbox 360 and Wii as well as DS.  I have beaten the game on the 360, and just started playing the Wii version, which is a very different experience from the 360 version so far.  And I’ve loved almost every minute of it, save for some small problems, and the difficulty level of the game when sometimes, even on easy.  When I was 8 or 9, I went to the arcade (!) to play the Ghostbusters game, only to be disappointed by it for not having a similar style of play to that of the movie, and it’s about time they’ve made the game that I dreamed up at such a young age.  But this isn’t what you’re here to read about, you want to hear answer to Narnia fan mail, so here we go.

Prince Caspian DVD and Blu-ray Trailer

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

One of the best movies this summer, and most highly underrated, was The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. I suspect, and there is evidence, that it was in fact an over-stuffed summer movie season. The Dark Knight was the last huge movie of the summer that people were looking forward to, and hit after most everything else had either opened big or crashed.

Prince Caspian’s release date of May 16th was enough time after Iron Man to have some pull after Iron Man stormed out of the gate as a new hero in Spider-Man’s old pole position on the start of the season. Speed Racer wouldn’t make a dent, giving Caspian more breathing room. Indiana Jones would have something to say, however, and only give Caspian about six days.

It’s funny when people tell me they haven’t seen Caspian yet, and I can’t believe it, but I can understand how they would have missed it. If I wasn’t as big a fan, with ticket prices as they are, it’s hard to see everything that comes out. In the month of May, it would have been easy for one person to spend $40+ at the theatre.

Now, however, Prince Caspian is being released on DVD and Blu-ray. This is where Caspian will start making it’s big money. Launching December 2nd, one of the best movies of the year* that many people are about to discover, it’s going to be another incredible disc with great features.

The trailer has the melody of Coldplay’s song Clocks running through it, which was oddly fitting for the imagery.

*I’ve seen mostly everything this summer.

New Prince Caspian Theatrical Trailer and Narnia.com Relaunch!

Monday, April 28th, 2008

With the world premiere of THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: PRINCE CASPIAN only weeks away, we now have a new trailer! Also, [Disney] have re-launched the official site at www.Narnia.com.

Narnia.com’s re-emergence presents a totally interactive experience as users re-enter the world that they encountered in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. A great deal has changed in the 1300 years since Pevensie’s were last in Narnia, and similar to the children’s experience in PRINCE CASPIAN, traveling through the site brings revolution to Narnia.

Upon entering the new world of Narnia.com, Prince Caspian gives the user their mission: to seek out the creatures of Narnia, and build their own Narnian army. From here, users travel through four environments, each filled with film content and Narnians in hiding. Users can get visual hints on the creatures’ locations by clicking Susan’s horn. Find all 10 creatures, and the user can become a Narnian by uploading a photo and transforming into a Fawn, Dwarf, Centaur or Giant. After their transformations, users can play a RPG style game to improve their rank within the Narnian army. Additionally, be sure to check out two fast-paced arcade style games inspired by the film.

Stay tuned to Narnia.com for more developments!

Voyage of the Dawn Treader Pre-Vis Trailer at NRB

Friday, March 14th, 2008

A blogger called “Twitchie” went to the National Religious Broadcasters Convention last week, and while there attended a Disney presentation. Here’s a quick look at the Narnia related parts:

I went to NRB last week. (National Religious Broadcasters Convention) It was in Nashville at the Gaylord Opryland, one of the biggest hotels in the world. In fact, UNDER THE ROOF the INTERIOR of the hotel is 56 acres. Yeah. You read that right. 56 acres.

The new head of Disney Studios, [Bob Iger], who has taken over for Michael Eisner has really signaled a change in the direction of Disney. It’s under him that Chronicles has been acquired and he promised a great amount of care and consideration with such a beloved story. He said, multiple times, that he feels that Chronicles is THE most important series in Disney’s history and he will be treating it as such.

Then we got a sneak preview for the new trailer of Prince Caspian. It was awesome. I think it literally released the next morning – he said we were the first to see it. Then he showed us a sneak preview of the new trailer of Wall*E* which was awesome. It finally showed some of the story and answered some questions and I’ve got to say, I’m already a Wall*E* fan! And then…the COOLEST THING EVER….

WE SAW A TRAILER FOR VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER - THE NEXT NARNIA MOVIE!!!!! Yes! It was awesome! Before they begin filming, they put together the entire movie in a CGI format. They call it pre-visualization because they want the director to know what to film and how. So they built that into a trailer partnered with designers and actors and everyone involved in the process and their thoughts. So we saw a special feature/trailer for Voyage of the Dawn Treader – and it’s going to be amazing! It’s going to be Pirates of the Caribbean times a million!

Prince Caspian Trailer during Super Bowl?

Friday, December 21st, 2007

MovieWeb is reporting that Paramount will be showing a new Iron Man preview during the Super Bowl. They are reporting that Disney has not yet decided which films to promote during what is one of the most viewed television events of the year.

Disney is still considering which films it will flaunt during the Super Bowl, but you can most likely count on seeing commercials for both WALL•E and The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Universal, Warner Brothers, and Fox have all bought ad space as well but are choosing to keep their promotional spots a secret at the moment.

You can check out all the excitement when the Super Bowl airs February 3rd of 2008.

Aslan is on the move again! PRINCE CASPIAN Trailer continues to work it’s magic.

Friday, December 7th, 2007

Aslan is clearly on the move on the world wide web as the official trailer for Prince Caspian continues to roar it’s way on-line. From main stream websites, to blogs, the preview for next installment of the series is stirring up a storm after it’s initial release. In the past 24 hours the high resolution official trailer has recived 3,260 views on YouTube alone. One viewer already declared “Take that Golden Compass“.

Hot on the trail of Wednesday’s premier,Yahoo.com featured the trailer for Prince Caspian in their featured videos section of their main page. The article, with the headline “Savage ‘Narnia’ sequel”, heralds that Prince Caspian is much more intense than The Lion,The Witch and The Wardrobe. The invitation that follows allows the viewer to glimpse the action-packed preview. As promised in yesterday’s press release from Disney, it is in High Resolution.

Other mainstream web sites have the trailer as well. AOL’s Moviefone not only has the main trailer, but also features it in several languages such as Spanish, French and Chinese. The resolution quality varies on the foreign versions of the trailers but they are still viewable.

Mainstream movie sites like comingsoon.net, and aintitcool.com also have the trailer on their sites . The release for the trailer was as highly placed as the release of the poster for the new Batman movie. Reader discretion is strongly advised if viewing aintitcool as some viewer comments are strong in profanity and other inappropriate content.

As of now, IMDB does not yet have trailer up for the movie on their page for Prince Caspian. However, they do have links available to view it on several other sites. The lack of a trailer on IMDB is a minute point as it is available on many other fantasy and science fiction related homepages, blogs, and forums. NarniaFans is one of the trailer’s official launch partners.

It has been confirmed that the trailer is attached to the movie The Golden Compass
