More Pictures of The Spit, The Dawn Treader and the Actors

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

We’ve found still more pictures from the set of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.  These include the Spit, which is the location they are shooting the Narrowhaven scenes from the movie, as well as some new pictures of the Dawn Treader, as it quickly comes together.  There are also some very clear shots of Will Poulter as Eustace, and Georgie Henley as Lucy.  We’ve not yet seen Skandar Keynes as Edmund in this film, nor Ben Barnes as Caspian.  I wonder if they’re being shielded from the public eye for good reason.  Perhaps there are physical changes that the production is keeping secret for as long as possible.  Or perhaps it’s just that they haven’t been needed on the sets we’ve seen.

More Pictures from Narrowhaven and the Dawn Treader

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

With filming happening on location at The Spit, we are able to bring you more pictures from the set of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.  These feature Will Poulter as Eustace Clarence Scrubb, David Vallon as Gumpas and there’s even a glimpse of Ben Barnes in the role of Caspian.  We haven’t yet gotten a clear picture of him in costume, but it appears his hair is much much longer than in the first film, and he may have retained the facial hair that he was growing out during the the early months of the year.  I can’t wait to see more for myself!  This is getting very exciting.  It does look, however, like they’ve ramped up some of the Narrowhaven portion to make it into more of a struggle.  However, it may only be Eustace that acts up, with really fits into his character pretty well.  Especially if he is the only one that reacts with a struggle and the rest don’t.  Only time, and the motion picture, will tell! Dawn Treader Filming at The Spit (Video)

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader has started filming at the Spit today, on Australia’s Gold Coast.  Based on the footage in the video, it appears to be the sight of the slave trade that was going on in the story.  The website Goldcoast.com.au writes about it, and we have a video from a news report as well, for you!

Dawn Treader Wharf (Castle) Set at The Spit

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

We’ve finally got a picture of the castle set from the other side of the it.  Turns out the castle is actually a wharf, and a mighty wharf indeed.  I’m impressed.  It’s a very well designed wharf, though it has a lot of work left to go, and for only a few days of filming, as the article says – only three days.  This is typical of filming, however, as that four weeks of work will also amount to only mere moments on screen.

Dawn Treader Castle Set Pictures?

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

There seems to be a lot of pictures coming from the set this time around.  This round of pictures features a castle set on the shoreline, as well as some pieces of what might be part of the castle still in construction.  I have other thoughts though, as all of these sets cannot be for the beginning of the film alone.  Perhaps some of the set pieces are from other locations in the story.  The Voyage of the Dawn Treader takes place over many islands and there are other buildings that they come into contact with along the way.  Perhaps it’s the magician’s house?  We’ll have to wait and see!

More ‘Dawn Treader’ Set Photos

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

We received word from MundoNarnia about some new photos that have surfaced from the set of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader at The Spit.  It seems that a lot of progress has been made in the last few days.  If they’re shooting the film right now, though, the set doesn’t appear to be ready.  It’s close, though.  There is still no word as to who has arrived in Australia for the film shoot, aside from Skandar Keynes.  All that I know is that it’s on schedule to make it’s release on December 10, 2010, as scheduled by Fox and Walden Media.  It’s sure to be a good way to spend the holiday season, and to bide our time for The Hobbit a year later.

The Dawn Treader being built at ‘The Spit’?

Monday, July 6th, 2009

It has been but a few hours since I speculated on the name of the production company that they were using for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader when this story comes in, from the Gold Coast:  They are building a set for the movie at ‘The Spit.’  It’s a huge set that is believed to be a fake ship.  The set gave away the ’secret location’ that the Narnia movie executives have been tight-lipped about. Updated with a sign posted there.
